It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce the new Dias & Port Festival 2018!

This year the Mossel Bay Municipality has joined forces with its partner Transnet

National Ports Authority to bring to you a much bigger and better festival for all to enjoy.

The main aim of the festival is to celebrate diversity and culture, and this is the reason why

entry to the festival is free for all to attend and enjoy the festivities.

Met die samesmelting van die Diasfees en Hawefees, nou die Dias & Hawefees, gaan daar dubbel die pret en vermaak wees, met onder meer twee verhoë waar top Suid-Afrikaanse sangers en kunstenaars gaan optree en waar plaaslike talent ook wêreldwye blootstelling gaan geniet waar hulle optree met groepe van die verskillende nasionaliteite wat ook gaan deelhê in die fees.

Ons verwelkom al die internasionale talent.

Die talle nuwighede wat by die feesprogram ingesluit word, maak hierdie fees uniek.

To accommodate all the activities on offer, the festival arena will be extended from the De Bakke Santos Resort along the coast to the Mossel Bay Port area and surrounds. There will be much more to see, do and experience.

Behalwe vir die blootstelling vir plaaslike en ander entrepreneurs om hul produkte ten toon te stel, is die fees ook ‘n groot fi nansiële inspuiting vir die dorp.

We all know, it is nearly impossible to present a festival of such magnitude without generous sponsors. I would like to thank all the sponsors for their support, and especially our partner, Transnet, for the great joint effort to help make this festival even greater.

Transnet National Ports Authority (TNPA) is delighted to be co-hosting the Mossel Bay Dias & Port Festival from 1-4 February 2018, in partnership with the Mossel Bay Municipality.

This four-day festival, which puts the spotlight on the country’s oldest Port, builds on the

impressive successes of the Dias Festival / Diasfees over the past 30 years. This collaborative

effort with the Mossel Bay Municipality is crucial and will help us develop a closer relationship with surrounding

communities by enhancing their access to the Port.

The Mossel Bay Dias & Port Festival is an important event in TNPA’s drive to create Smart People’s Ports that best serve our communities. TNPA uses this platform to educate the public on what happens in our ports through a range of activities and demonstrations, with a view to attracting bright young minds to explore careers and opportunities in the maritime sector. Visitors can enjoy a tugboat ride, watch a sea rescue demonstration, as well as learn about the maritime industry at our careers exhibition on site.

The festival also includes an exciting line-up of live entertainment designed to promote local talent, an arts and crafts market for local crafters and entrepreneurs, as well as a Smart Youth market where learners compete against each other as they put their entrepreneurial and creative skills to the test. For your little ones, there is also a variety of children’s entertainment and other family-friendly activities on offer.

We hope your visit will be a fun-fi lled and inspiring one and that you will return year after year as we take the festival to new heights.
