Classroom Requirements

Part 1 - Minimum Hardware Requirements

● 800Mhz Pentium

● 768 MB Memory (1 GB recommended)

● 8 GB disk space

● Network connectivity to the internet

● Must have LAN connectivity.

● Each machine must have a unique host name.



Part 2 - Minimum Software Requirements

● Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4 or Windows XP Professional SP2

● Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 (or higher)

● Netscape 7 (or higher) / Internet Explorer 6.0 (or higher)

● WinZip 8.0 (or higher)

● IBM DB2 V8.2 Express Edition *

● Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool *

● IBM WebSphere Application Server Network Deployment v6.0 #

● IBM WebSphere Application Server v6.0 *

● IBM WebSphere MQ V6.0 trial*

● IBM WebSphere Application Server Toolkit (AST) v6.0 *

* - indicates software provided as part of the courseware.

# - indicates software that the client should have licences to use in this course.



Part 3 - Software Provided

You will receive a USB memory stick containing the following file:

● WA1327.ZIP

All other software listed under Minimum Software Requirements is either commercially licensed software that you must provide or software that is freely available off the Internet.



Part 4 - Important Ghosting or Imaging Information

Some of the software installed for this course will not function after changing the computer hostname. As such, cloning or imaging should not be used on a fully installed system.

You can save time by extracting the contents of the USB memory stick to C:\ on a clean OS install (no other software installed) and then imaging that hard drive. After restoring the image to the other computers and changing the hostnames, you can then install the software on each computer individually by following the instructions that are detailed later in this document.



Software Installation

Part 1 - Preparation

__1. Create a user called wasadmin with password wasadmin and grant this user administrative access.

__2. Restart the computer and log in as wasadmin.

__3. From the USB memory stick, extract the WA1327.ZIP file to C:\

__4. Review that the following folders were created:

■ C:\LabFiles

■ C:\Software\DB2 v8.2 Express Edition

■ C:\Software\Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool

■ C:\WAS ND V6

■ C:\WAS V6

■ C:\Software\WebSphere AST v6.0

■ C:\Software\WebSphere MQ v6.0 Trial



Part 2 - Installing DB2 v8.2 Express Edition

Note: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.

__1. Run setup.exe from C:\Software\DB2 v8.2 Express Edition

__2. Click on the Install Product link at the first screen.



__3. Click Next to select DB2 UDB Express.



__4. Wait while DB2 prepares the setup. At the Welcome to the DB2 Setup Wizard page just click Next.



__5. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next.



__6. Leave Typical selected and click Next.



__7. Leave the default installation directory and click Next.



__8. Enter wasadmin for the User name and password.

__9. Be sure to leave empty the domain.

__10. Click the Next button.

__11. Click Yes if asked to create the user.



__12. Click Next to accept the defaults under the Configure DB2 instances page.



__13. Click Install at the Start copying files page.

__14. Wait a bit while the software installs.



__15. The Setup is complete message will appear. Click Finish.

__16. Wait until the DB2 Product Updates dialog open, then click No.

__17. Close the First Steps page.



__18. Restart the computer and log in as the user 'wasadmin' with password 'wasadmin'.

__19. Start the DB2 First Steps program by selecting Start -> Programs -> IBM DB2 -> Set-up tools -> First Steps.

__20. Click on the Create Sample Database link.



__21. Check the DB2 UDB Sample and click OK.

__22. Wait a bit while it creates the database.

__23. Click OK when the Creating Selected Sample Database dialog open.

__24. Close the IBM DB2 First Steps Launchpad window.



__25. Open a command line processor by selecting Start -> Programs -> IBM DB2 -> Command Line Tools -> Command Line Processor.

__26. Enter the following code to connect to the database:

connect to sample user wasadmin using wasadmin

__27. You should see the Database Connection Information.

__28. Enter the following code to connect to the database:

select * from employee

__29. Make sure you see the screen below displaying all the information in the employee table.

__30. Type quit and hit Enter.

__31. Type exit and hit Enter to close the Command Line Processor.

DB2 v8.2 Express Edition has been installed.



Part 3 - Installing Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool

__1. Execute MSWebStressTool.exe from C:\Software\Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool folder.

__2. In the Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool License Agreement page click Yes.



__3. Leave the default destination directory and click Next.



__4. Click OK at the Read me window.



__5. Click Finish when the message Installation Complete appears.

Microsoft Web Application Stress Tool has been installed.



Part 4 - Installing WebSphere MQ v6.0 Trial

__1. Run Setup.exe from the C:\Software\WebSphere MQ v6.0 Trial folder. The WebSphere MQ Launchpad should open up.

__2. Click on Software Requirements in the navigation bar.

__3. You should see a red X and the Not Installed message next to WebSphere Eclipse Platform Version 3.0.1.

__4. To install WebSphere Eclipse Platform Version 3.0.1, expand it by clicking on the + sign next to it.



__5. Click on the Network button.

__6. A dialog will open looking for the IES folder which should be selected as shown below. Verify that the folder selected is under C:\Software\WebSphere MQ v6.0 Trial\Prereqs\IES.

__7. Click Open.



__8. Leave English selected in the Select Setup Language pop-up window and click OK.

__9. Click Next in the Welcome window.



__10. Select I accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.



__11. Leave the default destination folder and click Next.



__12. In the Ready to Install WebSphere Eclipse Platform window just click Install.



__13. The installation will take a few minutes after which you will see the following screen. Click Finish.



__14. Now that you've installed the pre-requisite software for installing WebSphere MQ, the WebSphere MQ Launchpad should still be open, then click the Refresh button.

__15. Now you should see a green check mark and the OK message next to WebSphere Eclipse Platform Version 3.0.1 indicating that Eclipse has been successfully installed.



__16. Now proceed to installing WebSphere MQ by clicking on WebSphere MQ Installation on the left menu.



__17. Click on the Launch IBM WebSphere MQ Installer button.



__18. Select I accept the terms in the the license agreement and click Next.

__19. Leave Typical selected and click Next.



__20. Click Install.



__21. The installation will take several minutes to complete after which you will see the following screen. Click Finish.



__22. The installation program will open up the Welcome to the Prepare WebSphere MQ Wizard window. Click Next.



__23. Answer No to the question Are any of the domain controllers in your network running Windows 2000 or later?. Click Next.



__24. Click Next again in this window.



__25. Uncheck all the options and click Finish.

__26. You should see an icon in your system tray with a green icon which indicates that WebSphere MQ is running.



__27. To verify the installation was successful, open a command prompt by clicking on Start -> Run, enter cmd and click OK.

__28. Enter the following command to change to the WebSphere MQ directory:

cd C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere MQ\bin

__29. Enter The following command:

crtmqm TESTQM

__30. You should see the following message.

__31. Close the command prompt window.

You have successfully installed WebSphere MQ v6.0 Trial.



Part 5 - Installing WebSphere Application Server Toolkit v6.0 (AST 6)

Note: You cannot use ghosting or disk imaging to install this software. You must install the software on each machine separately.

__1. Run the setup.exe file from the C:\Software\WebSphere ASTK v6.0 folder.

__2. Click the Next button in the Welcome screen.

__3. Accept the license agreement and click the Next button.



__4. Leave the default installation directory and click the Next button.



__5. Click the Next button on the Summary screen to begin installing the software.



__6. When installation is finished click the Finish button to close the setup wizard.

__7. Now to verify the installation select Start -> Programs -> IBM WebSphere -> IBM WebSphere Application Server Toolkit, V6.0 -> Application Server Toolkit.

__8. Leave the default Workspace folder and do not check the Use this as the default and do not ask again checkbox and then click the OK button.



__9. You will see the Welcome page of WebSphere AST v6.0.

__10. From the menu select File -> Exit.

WebSphere AST v6.0 has been installed.



Congratulations. The installation of WA1327 WebSphere Application Server v6Administration has been completed.
