10 Barrel Brewing Company is a premier Boise social hub. This renovated building originally housed an auto repair shop back in 1915, but has now been transformed into an urban style pub and eatery. Located in downtown Boise, Oregon-founded 10 Barrel provides a fresh, contemporary environment for friends and family to enjoy quality food and award-winning beverages.

In 2013, the design of 10 Barrel won the Idaho Smart Growth Award, which recognizes exemplary efforts in community planning and development in Idaho. It also won Engineering News Record’s Best Small Projects under $10 million Award (Mountain States Region) in 2013.

Tamarack Brewing CompanyLakeside, MT

The goal of this building design was to compliment the process that happens within – beer making. The integrated design here exposes the structural, architectural and engineering systems that are working together to create an enjoyable environment.

The grain storage and mill were placed near the entry so as patrons approach the entry, they will see the sacks of malt and grains. As they proceed into the building, they actually walk under the auger that delivers the grains to the hopper above the mash kettle. The brew house and fermentation room are both open to the view of customers from both inside and outside. A loft area hovers above the bar, allowing people seated above to look down into the fermentation room, and also across the road to the spectacular views of Flathead Lake and the Swan Mountain Range.

– Specials–Whole Foods Market - DomainAustin, TX

This is the second flagship store for Whole Foods Market’s home base of Austin, TX. Beyond capturing a “rustic steampunk” theme, a goal for the store was to provide a shopping environment that would enrich the community and exceed customer expectations, all while staying true to the brand’s core values of environmentalism and supporting the local community.

“The Draft Shack,” a bar inside a rustic porch house in the heart of the store, offers oysters and 45 beers on tap. Customers can even order a beer and take it with them while shopping. The plaza, dubbed “Public Domain,” provides seating underneath an overhead structure of tensile cables and colorful metal slats. Additional amenities include child and adult play areas, board-formed concrete planters with built-in benches, gas-powered fire pits, and a repurposed shipping container surrounded by a raised wooden deck and music stage. The store achieved an Austin Energy Green Building four-star rating.
