Leipzig/Halle Airport is one of Europe’s most modern airports. It has ahigh-capacity infrastructure at its disposal and is ideally connected to the rail and road network. Qualified staff ensure fast and safe loading ofair cargo of all kinds.

Leipzig/Halle Airport: Traffic junction and cargo hub in the middle of Europe

Leipzig/HalleLeipzig/Halle Airport has a parallel runway system allowing independent operation of the two 3,600-metre runways. Locational advantages such as the 24-hour operating licence for cargo aircraft and the central geographic location within the trans-European motorway network offer the perfect setting for companies in the aviation and logistics industry.

The airport has an Animal Export Center, veterinary and plant border inspection facilities and a hush house. The train cargo station provides ideal conditions for future-oriented, intermodal shipping of goods.

AtAt present, more than 300 weekly flights depart to approximately 50 destinations in 30 countries. By handling more than 880,000 tons of cargo in the year 2013, Leipzig/Halle Airport is the number 2 in the ranking of all German cargo airports and among European’s top 10 cargo airports.

DHL’s European hub and home base for AeroLogic

DeutscheDeutsche Post DHL operates the European DHL hub at Leipzig/Halle Airport. Since 2008, more than 50 DHL cargo aircraft have been using the airport to tranship up to 2,000 tons of cargo per night. Furthermore, Leipzig/Halle Airport is the home base for the new globally operating cargo carrier AeroLogic. State-of-the-art Boeing 777-freighters fly to destinations in the Middle East, in Asia and North America.

Base and maintenance area for Antonov AN-124 cargo aircraft

TTwo Antonov AN-124-100s have been permanently based at Leipzig/Halle Airport since March 2006 as part of the SALIS Project (Strategic Airlift Interim Solution). Ruslan Salis GmbH, a co- operation between the Volga-Dnepr Group and the Antonov Design Bureau, opened the only maintenance base for Antonov 124-100 aircraft in Europe at Leipzig/Halle in 2007.

A newly constructed hangar for Volga-Dnepr Technics GmbH has served as a maintenance base for Russian and Western aircraft since January 2013. The hangar can accommodate aircraft such as Antonov 124 or Airbus A 380.

PortGPortGround – Handling expertise at Leipzig/Halle Airport

PortGround GmbH, a sister company of Leipzig/Halle Airport, offers a wide range of ground and cargo handling services. The company employs IATA certified staff for handling aircraft of all types and cargo of all kinds. As a regulated agent, PortGround is able to guarantee the necessary security measures for freight shipments so that they comply with the current European and US regulations.

Cargo ACargo Area South meets investors' requirements

Leipzig/Halle Airport has commercial real estate areas available in flexible shapes and sizes. These offer diverse investment possibilities in the logistics or aviation-related industry. The 12-hectare apron directly connected to the Cargo Area South is linked to the runway system via separate taxiways. Further developed and greenfield areas with direct traffic infrastructure are available in the immediate surroundings of the airport.

TheThe ultra-modern World Cargo Center with approximately 20,000 square metres of handling space is located in the Cargo Area South. Furthermore, a new Air Cargo Center with direct access to the cargo apron is planned to be built by ACC AirCargo Center Leipzig GmbH, a subsidiary of Dietz AG.
