More than 2 million New Jer-sey residents were without poweras of Thursday, Nov. 1, and eightcounties were included in the di-rect federal assistance declara-tion announced by the FederalEmergency Management Agency(FEMA) on Oct. 30.

Mayor Michael Mignogna saidVoorhees was fortunate.

According to PSE&Gs outagemaps, as of Thursday, Nov. 1,Voorhees experienced betweenone to 500 power outages.

Other than power outages, thetownship only experienced fallentrees causing damage to a few ve-hicles and two homes, PoliceChief Lou Bordi said.

The residents of the damagedhomes managed to relocate, andno injuries were reported, he

said.We are in a recovery phase,

and we are not back to normalyet, but we are getting there, hesaid last week.

Localized flooding was also re-ported throughout Camden Coun-ty.

Seussical, the fantastical,magical musical extravaganza,leaps from the pages of Dr. Seusschildrens books onto the DennisFlyer Theatres stage in Main-stage Center for the Arts upcom-ing production. Written by TonyAward winners Lynn Ahrens andStephen Flaherty, Seussicalruns from Nov. 16 to 18, at Cam-den County College. This produc-tion features Ryan Connelly, ofVoorhees, as the Mayor ofWhoville.

One of the most-performedshows in America, Seussicaldelights audiences of all ageswith its colorful cast of charac-

ters including Horton the Ele-phant, Cat in the Hat, Jojo,Gertrude McFuzz and LazyMayzie. The mischievous Cat inthe Hat (Shaun Levey of Berlin),narrates, leading the audience ona roller-coaster ride of adventure,weaving story lines and charac-ters together in exciting and un-expected ways. This madcap char-acter disappears and reappears atvarious parts in the production.

Thrown into the Cats adven-tures is Jojo (Darby Pumphrey ofMullica Hill), a young girl whomthe Cat convinces to imagine,with him, the Jungle of Nool,where the story begins with thetale of Horton Hears a Who.The lovable Horton the Elephant(Joe Penn of Sicklerville) trieshis best to save Whoville and thesmall Whos including Jojo andher parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mayor(Ryan Connelly of Voorhees andBrook Shellock of Blackwood).The Sour Kangaroo (ChelseaFields of Sicklerville), the evilWickershams, and others gang upagainst Horton.

When I found out that I wasgoing to be playing the mayor, Iwas ecstatic! It's been awesomeworking with the cast. Everyoneis so professional about every-thing. It's also been an honor get-ting to work with Brooke Shel-lock, who plays my wife, becauseI've known her for so long and fi-nally being able to work so closelyon roles together is perfection,Connelly said.

Shellock is an assistant direc-tor for Summer Stage. In this pro-duction, younger performers arehaving the opportunity to workside-by-side with those who nor-mally direct or choreograph forthem in summer stage.

Many of us grew up at Main-stage and went on to become partof directing teams here, so theyounger members of the castdon't really know the acting sidesof us. It has been most interestingto work on developing characterconnections with the kids in rela-tion to my own character insteadof understanding their charactersfrom the big picture view.

Ticket prices are $12 for seniorcitizens/children 12 and under,and $15 for adults.
