Volunteers wanted to Mentor Looked After Children in Sefton

1
Give someone an extra foothold. Sefton Council are currently recruiting for Independent Visitors and Advocates to work with Looked After Children. An Independent Visitor is an adult who would like to befriend a young person and be there for them on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis. Advocates are specially trained volunteers who help young people speak up for themselves and get their views and feelings heard. Looked After Children sometimes need this sort of support when decisions are being made about their lives by other professionals. If you are good at listening, negotiating and communicating we would love to hear from you. All volunteers are given initial training and then receive ongoing support and guidance from us. This can open up new opportunities for employment, to meet other volunteers, have new experiences and gain new skills. A CRB check is required for this role and will be carried out at no cost to the volunteer.
