Transcript of Volunteer Survey Results (Repaired)
Volunteer Survey Results Information Outreach 10/19/2009 Manatee County Government
Executive Summary
After conducting the survey, it has been determined that an overwhelming majority of the volunteers feel that it is indeed important to recognize volunteers for their contributions. Many of the volunteers like the idea of receiving a lapel pin and a certificate. Regarding the Pirates Spring Training Game that was held in March 2009, more than one-fifth of the volunteers polled attended. Of those who attended the game, 81% enjoyed the experience, highlighting the game, bus ride and socializing with volunteers as the main reasons why it was such an enjoyable event. Of those who attended the only things they did not like was the seating and game match up. Of those who didn’t attend the event almost half cited a scheduling conflict or said they didn’t express an interest in the event. Out of the two events the luncheon was the most desirable volunteer appreciation event.
Recommendation From the survey results, I would recommend having an awards luncheon at the Civic Center
with elected officials present. However, many of the volunteers expressed an interest in having
a picnic at a preserve, park or even the Crosley.
In recognizing the volunteers for their service, certificates and lapel pins can be given out at the
awards luncheon but many of them expressed that there should be “levels” or “tiers” when
recognizing volunteers in five year increments, for example.
On a separate note, due to the volume of “bounced” e-mails and returned mail, a more
effective and efficient method of retrieving contact information for volunteers should be
established before March 31, 2010, in time for the next volunteer appreciation event.
Quick Facts There were two ways of distribution: email and regular mail. Email distribution breakdown Total Emails Sent 380 (Bounced) 47 No Response 278 (Opted Out) 1 Responses 102 Regular mail distribution breakdown Total Letters Sent 902 (Returned) 47 No Responses 778 Mail Response 71 Web Response 53 Reports The attached documents gives a summary report of all the volunteers that responded to the survey. The more detailed reports are after the Summary Report in the following order:
1. Email distribution responses with comments and charts 2. Regular mail responses (mail) with comments and charts 3. Regular mail responses (web) with comments and charts
The goal of the volunteer survey was to obtain information on volunteer recognition from the people who have contributed time and expertise to
programs and services offered to residents by Manatee County Government.
