Apparo – Who We Are

•Helps nonprofit agencies embrace the power of technology to transform how they operate and deliver their missions

• Serves as the CIO resource behind more than 180 local nonprofits

• Creates a bridge between the nonprofit and corporate technology sectors

•Delivers solutions that multiply nonprofit effectiveness throughout the region

Program Design

Format:

One-on-one - On-site coaching AT the agency

Volunteers schedule coaching session(s) each month at mutually convenient times during the work day.

Time commitment:

4 month Semesters – Fall & Spring

Partnership for 1 to 4 months; 1 hour minimum each month

Can adjust partnership monthly

Process:

Agency staff enter their coaching needs at start of the semester via Volunteer Link

Volunteer coaches select partner from list of opportunities on Volunteer Link

Primary coaching focus is business tools that corporations use in day-to-day operations:

• Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Windows navigation

• SharePoint: calendar sharing, document sharing

Process elements to Highlight

Semester will last for 4 months

Make your one hour per month a priority –not an “if I can fit it in”

Start right away -Contact your partner and respond to him/her/ them!

One-on-one and in person.

(No phone call sessions)

You are not the “go-to-IT-guy”; NPO Agencies have Managed Services contracts

Coordinate coaching time with your NPO partner over the semester

Few people in many different roles

•Have they just migrated to new Windows/Office/Office365 platforms

•How do they use SharePointo Across the whole agencyo Individually

•How do they use their Email/Outlook

•Use and share helpful resource material on the Volunteer Link site

•Ask for a brief tour, learn about their mission
