USIT VOLUNTEERING WITH...
We have carefully selected projects from around the globe that we believe are not only making a huge difference to people’s lives, communities and the environment but are ones where you will truly be immersed in real life experiences and culture.
All volunteers must adhere to the following:
This is often asked about Volunteering. We pride ourselves on being able to offer genuine Volunteer opportunities on projects that are responsible and more importantly SUSTAINABLE. By funding your own Volunteer experience, YOU are ensuring that the projects are sustainable as it means they are not relying on charitable donations or government overseas aid to provide assistance. You are taking responsibility for your part in the project from start to finish and are covering all your own costs ensuring there is no additional financial strain placed on the projects you are visiting.
Why USIT?
Code of Conduct:
Why Pay to Volunteer?
Whilst our projects are serious in nature, we also ensure you receive maximum support:
Volunteering allows you to make a genuine and significant contribution to those less fortunate but it is
you who will emerge enriched. This is no holiday. This is real
life and this is not for everyone.
From pick up at the airport, right through to settling into your new home and orientation.
We respect that you are sacrificing your time, energy and money to help others and we take every measure necessary to ensure you are well looked after during your trip.

Containing nine of the world’s fourteen highest mountain peaks
including Mount Everest, Nepal is a true Himalayan kingdom. It is
also one of the world’s poorest countries.
USIT work with various projects including teaching English to the
village children and adults, assisting in orphanages and working on
community development projects.
Typically Ghana is one of our most challenging volunteer spots but
the flip side is that it’s one of the most rewarding countries to work
in. The best advice to take before heading to Ghana is to keep an
open mind and have a lot of patience. Keeping this in mind will help
you excel in your placement no matter if you are in a small village
or big city.

GHANABE THE DIFFERENCE
SPOTLIGHT ON...
Today, South Africa is made up of decades of social disruption, lost
education, high unemployment and the aids epidemic all of which
threaten economic progress. USIT volunteers work on projects in
South Africa that aim to tackle some of the issues affecting this
beautiful country. Also home to our most popular Wildlife projects,
our volunteers really get a chance to share experiences with some
of the world’s largest animals.
India is estimated to be home to a third of the world’s poor. Since the
1950’s the Indian government and non-governmental organisations
have implemented several programmes to alleviate poverty. These
measures have helped eliminate famines, cut absolute poverty levels
by more than half and reduced illiteracy and malnutrition. USIT work
with projects that aim to tackle a range of issues affecting India today.

Terms and conditions apply. All prices are correct at time of print but may be subject to change.
The project fee doesn’t just pay for your project placement, it also provides you with support and services throughout your trip, accommodation and most meals (in some cases), airport transfers and transport to your project and sightseeing tours on your orientation.
In some cases, a part of your fee will go to the project you join as well, allowing staff to purchase materials or pay salaries to local, full-time workers.
For most homestay projects, your fee also pays for your room and board, allowing your host family to meet your needs without straining their own budget. We also use part of your fee to maintain the service we provide to you pre-departure and it allows us to continue sourcing meaningful placements and developing vibrant relationships with our partner organisations in developing countries.

BE THEDIFFERENCE
It is important to recognise that volunteering overseas is not the same experience as a beach holiday. It is hopefully a full and rich experience but it also demands a lot from those who choose to volunteer. There is usually an adjustment period during which you may feel a bit overwhelmed and even uncomfortable. That’s okay! At USIT, we ask you to think carefully about why you want to volunteer and respect that volunteering will not find you in a 5* resort. But that is part of the adventure! Volunteering is not a static itinerary and plans can change so we ask that you are flexible. If you allow it, the global village promises to be a more engaging experience than you can imagine.
