STAFF PARISH REPORT

It is the time of year when the Bishop and the Cabinet make decisions on appointments for the next yearbeginning the end of June. Your Staff Parish Relations Committee requested the return of Bob and SusieRambo to lead our church. Bob and Susie Rambo also filled out the paperwork asking the Bishop and theCabinet to return the Rambo’s to us for another year. Sometimes those decisions don’t work out like we wantthem to work.

Last Tuesday night, the Staff Parish Committee met with District Superintendent Billy Owen, and wereinformed by the District Superintendent that the Bishop and Cabinet need Bob and Susie at another church.About 4 or 5 weeks ago, the minister of Christ Church in Jackson announced his plans to retire. The decision to ask the Rambos to move to Christ Church in Jackson took place late last week, so they willbe moving to Christ Church in June of this year. They will be here at Central until then. The Cabinet and Bishop will meet March 19 to continue the appointment process. At this time, we have noth

idea who will be appointed to Central as our next lead pastor. We have been promised that the very best personthat can be found will be assigned to Central. As part of the Staff Parish’s meeting last Tuesday night, we began that discussion and we will meet thiscoming Tuesday night to continue to discuss with the DS the type of leader that we need and want. My first knowledge of this possible change was a telephone call from the DS last Sunday afternoon telling methat he wanted our Staff Parish Committee to meet last Tuesday and he indicated in that call that Bob Rambomay be moved to another church. The DS stated that he wanted to hear from us the quality and characteristics of the person that we want tobe appointed to Central. I have told him that we have that person now and that we wanted Bob Rambo to stay.I respectfully asked him to communicate to the Bishop and Cabinet that we would prefer that they not “messwith us.” This change was announced last Sunday morning at both Central and Christ Church in Jackson. As you know, Bob and Susie and a number of others left for a long planned trip to Israel on Wednesday afterthe Staff Parish Committee got this news on Tuesday night. Their trip had been planned for several months andcould not be changed. I had a telephone conversation with our new Bishop last Thursday afternoon to expressthe feelings of disappointment and concern of your Staff Parish Committee.

Be in prayer for the Bishop and the Cabinet as they continue the appointment process and please be in prayerfor Bob and Susie in their new appointment. Also, pray for each other and Central as we move forward.

This change is a huge disappointment for me personally because I value the leadership that Bob and Susiehave given to us, but I am sure the Lord’s hand will be in this and that the Bishop and the Cabinet will make anassignment to us that will be good in the long run.

Remember, we are on this earth and in this place only to serve a risen Lord.

Thank you, Wink Glover Chairperson
