November is Parent Engagement Month and November 19th is National
Parental Involvement Day. This day is set aside to encourage all parents/
guardians to commit to being an active part of their child’s education.
WCHS encourages you to get involved. Call Sharon McDonald, Parent
Coordinator, at 229-463-3074 for more information and to become an ac-
tive volunteer.
“At the end of the day, the most overwhelming key
to a child’s success is the positive
involvement of parents.”
Jane D. Hull
Thanksgiving Holidays
School will be out November 23rd—27th for Thanksgiving.
Classes will resume on Monday, November 30th.
Worth County High School is seeking input in the revision of
the School Compact and the Parent Involvement Policy. The School
Compact is an agreement created jointly by the school, parents, and
students and is designed to help all students successfully meet school
goals. The Parent Involvement Policy describes how the school will
implement required schoolwide parental involvement components.
We would like to hear from parents of WCHS students on
what strategies they will use at home to support their child in meeting
school goals.
Please take a few minutes of your time to share what you as
a parent will do to help your child be successful during the 2015-2016
school term. Your input will be combined with other responses in
order for WCHS to jointly create the School Compact and Parental
Involvement Policy.
Please contact WCHS Parent Coordinator, Sharon McDonald
at 229-776-8625 or email [email protected] with any
comments or input. I will be more than happy to set up an appoint-
ment at your convenience for you to come in and meet regarding the
school compact and parent involvement policy. You may also mail
responses to Worth County High School. The mailing address is 406
West King St., Sylvester, GA 31791. Please make all responses to the
attention of Sharon McDonald.

Safety tips from
Officer Duncan,
School Resource Officer
We all want students to keep
safety in mind. Students should
obey all Georgia traffic laws, keep
speed down to 10 mph in parking
lots, wear their seatbelts at all
times, and all vehicles should be
registered with valid insurance
before entering school property.
The Georgia Department of Education and Stanford University have teamed
up to provide a wonderful free service to our parents and guardians of 4 & 5
year olds. Free tips and resources—via three simple texts per week– to help
get your little one ready for kindergarten. Simply text GAREADY4K to
313131 to receive tips, facts & resources for pre-k & kindergarten.

Attention WCHS Parents:
The Georgia Department of Education and
WCHS need your help! Our faculty and
staff, in connection with the Georgia DOE,
work diligently to provide your child with
a quality education in a safe and suppor-
tive environment. Please take a few min-
utes to complete an online survey to let us
know how we are doing. The Georgia
DOE uses the survey results to gauge the
overall climate at WCHS. Thank you for
taking the time to complete this survey!

Go to www.diabetes.org for the American Diabetes Association website with infor-mation or call 1-800-Diabetes (1-800-342-2383). This is a great resource! It goes into details about all aspects of Diabetes and has links that explain every symptom or medical word relating to Diabetes.

The Elementary and Secondary Education Assistance Act of 1965 (ESEA)[Section 1111 (6)(A)] These regulations allow you to learn more about your child’s teachers’ training and credentials. We are happy to provide this
information to you. At any time, you may ask:
Whether the teacher met state qualifications and certification requirements for the grade level and subject he/she is teach-ing,
Whether the teacher received an emergency or conditional certificate through which state qualifications were waived, and
What undergraduate or graduate degrees the teacher holds, including graduate certificates and additional degrees, and
major(s) or area(s) of concentration. You may also ask whether your child receives help from a paraprofessional. If your
child receives this assistance, we can provide you with information about the paraprofessional’s qualifications.
Our staff is committed to helping your child develop the academic knowledge and critical thinking he/she needs to succeed
in school and beyond. That commitment includes making sure that all of our teachers and paraprofessionals are highly skilled.
