What Writer’s Block Actually IsBy Katie Predella

What is writer’s block? I’m here to tell you. Writer’s block is when you can’t think of anything to write about (this happens quite a lot, especially to the authors of the Daily Double). What happens inside your brain, is your idea chamber closing up, and locking itself. Your idea chamber is where all your brilliant ideas live. Every idea you’ve ever had, and will have, come from this idea chamber. The brain decides to release these ideas slowly, as releasing them all at once would cause a massive headache, and writer’s block forever more. Sometimes, the idea chamber doesn’t function quite right. You will later have an idea that is so brilliant and mind blowing that your brain isn’t quite ready to handle it yet. It locks your idea chamber so that no ideas come out for a little while. Thankfully, ideas are constantly floating around in the air, and you can be inspired by anything. If you happen to be inspired by something, your brain unlocks your idea chamber, and lets your ideas flow again. In some time, you’ll have more ideas. Writer’s block is the reason I’m writing this article. Thanks to writer’s block, you now know why writer’s block happens.

SKYVUE in Las Vegas: Stalled ProjectBy Lleyton W.

Hi again everyone! Today’s issue will be about the stalled project in Las Vegas. Although Las Vegas already has the world’s tallest observation wheel, the High-Roller, this one looks like it has a lighted screen on the front. The supports for the wheel, not the building that surrounds it, has been built. It was started in 2012, and has been stalled ever since. The scaffolding was removed in 2014, and hasn’t been built on since.

I Am A Dalek!By Rachel Alpert-Wisnia

Help! The Daleks made me! I am a human dalek. I don’t want to hurt anyone or anything, but I don’t wanna die! HEEELLPPPPP MEEEEEEEEEE!*

*These were the exact thoughts of Oswin Oswald in Asylum of the Daleks, Season 7, Episode 1.

Author’s Note: As most of you know Oswin/Clara as a tough, independent, brave woman, she’s actually scared of some things. Mostly daleks. And belly buttons. But the belly buttons don’t matter.

Anyways, back to the point. Oswin’s biggest fear is the Daleks. Yet she is one. Maybe she’s scared of the daleks not because they are killing machines, because they are the same as her. And she’s scared of herself.

*MIND BLOWN*

The Great Snape DebateBy Nina Kahn, Eleanor Dunne, and Christine Foster

N: Hello, all, and welcome to the Great Snape Debate (or DeSnape, if you will). Any Potterhead knows that there’s a massive controversial issue that splits the fandom in two: Was Snape a good guy? With me, I have Eleanor (Snape-Positive) and Christine (Snape-Negative). I myself think that, if you look at his whole timeline, he proves to be a clingy jerk (however, I’m kinda Snape-Neutral, if that’s a thing). Let’s get this party started! Eleanor, introduce yourself!E: Hello, I am Eleanor! I like Snape. That’s about it, I’m just really awkward…N: How about you, Christine?C: Hi, I’m Christine. I love long walks on the beach and I hate Severus Snape.N: Oh yeah, I should probably introduce myself. Hey, I’m Nina, and I am violently indifferent on the matter, but maybe more negative. I like cats and looking at ludicrously expensive art supplies that I can never buy.

Subject 1: Was Snape’s infatuation with Lily justified?C: NO. He was her friend for a while, but then he decided to join a group that would want her...not to exist, and then when she died he just held her corpse and he cried and he didn’t even bother to check on her possibly dead infant son!E: *shrugs* idk. I’m sorta with Christine on this, but him calling her a Mudblood...that was just WRONG. Except, he never stopped caring about her! The reason he hated Harry was because he hated his dad. James was a bully, no doubt about that. He refuses to see the good in Harry, because that would be too painfulN: You both have a point! Yes, James was a [redacted] from what we saw, and even though Snape loved Lily too, he probably shouldn’t have STEPPED OVER HER HUSBAND’S LIFELESS BODY AND CRADLED HER CORPSE. E: Wait, I don’t think that part is said in the book. I think it’s just for emphasis in the movie.N: Meh. Still. Also, The only reason Snape pretty much abused Harry was because his crush turned him down. Not cool, Sev.

Subject 2: RIP DumbledoreC: *growls angrily*E: For me, this is really straightforward. He killed Dumbledore because he was told to. He was loyal til the end.C: I don’t like Dumbledore, so I’m gonna skip it.N: I agree, Dumbledore is problematic. However, it’s still sad that he died. He was Harry’s last mentor/father figure! And yes, Snape was loyal, but that doesn’t quite excuse his actions. C: Well, Dumbledore DID tell him that he had to kill him, but that’s not exactly the best way to get on the ‘good list’. Dumbledore is ~eugh~ HE LEFT HARRY WITH THE DURSLEYS. N: Yeah, that was a terrible move on his part. It was a plot device, and shaped Harry’s character, but logically, maybe they weren’t the best choice for Harry’s new fam. Okay, back to Snape…Final thoughts?E: Snape was mean to Harry, but if you look at the big picture, his ultimate goal, he wasn’t all that bad. Sure, he was mean to Harry, but he was mean to basically all of the houses. The only reason Snape hated Harry most out of everybody was because James was a jerk. Maybe if James wasn’t such a jerk to Snape when they were in school, Snape would’ve been nicer to Harry.C: *makes disgusted face* He’s the ultimate dudebro with a sob story that doesn’t excuse his terrible actions because terrible things happening to you is an explanation, not an excuse.N: I’m kind of Snape-Neutral, leaning towards the negative side, but nothing can minimize his actions, even though he had ~somewhat~ good intentions. Yes, James was a jerk, and it must suck being turned town by a crush, but still, Snape, chill.

iPhone 6S leaked informationBy Ryan Kane

So today I’m going to talk to you about the new iPhone 6S that hasn’t even been released or announced yet. So let’s get to it!

● The new phone might possibly have three different models, for instance a 6S, 6S Plus, and 6C.

● The launch date is predicted to be Friday, September 18.

● They will probably be 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch phones, the same sizes as the 6 and 6 plus. There also might be a 6S mini, which would be pretty cool.

● It might be a tiny amount thinner than the previous one, but probably not a noticeable amount.

● The battery life will be a little better, but don’t feel bad because the new iOS 9 will improve battery life on all devices.

● It might have a higher screen resolution, as well as a harder screen.

● There might be dual-lenses in the camera, allowing you to take 3d pictures.

● The front facing camera might go up to 1080p.● It might have a new type of charger, but this is unlikely.● There is a small chance it might have an edge-to-edge

screen.● Probably the biggest feature on this whole list: it

will have something called force touch, meaning it recognizes how hard you press down on the screen.

● This isn’t really a feature, but now Apple might be releasing 2 new phones a year to keep up with it’s competitors.

● It will have an A9 processor, which will make the new phone go about 57% faster than the 6 plus.

● The place where you plug in the phone might be located on the side.

● It may not have a SIM card.● You might be able to tilt your thumb in one direction on

the home button to control the phone.● It’s a rumor that in future designs, it may have wireless

charging. That’s right, no cords.● IT MIGHT COME IN PINK!!!!!!!!● Back to the camera, it might be located in the upper

middle on the back!● Definitely not in this generation, but possibly in future

ones there may be a flexible phone.● The fingerprint scanner may be built into the screen.

Keep in mind that these are rumors and there is no official proof that any of these are true. Other than that, I think that’s it so bye.

Things that are radioactive but you probably did not know they wereBy Lani.winfo from listverse .com

10. Brazil Nuts: Okay, strange but true, brazil nuts are actually radioactive. The cause for this is that the roots of the tree making the nuts go into to the ground so deep, the tree sucks up huge amounts of radium. Also, if you eat them, your waste becomes super radio active and unfortunate to others. 9. Grand Central Station in New York: One of the largest stations in the world, this station is super radioactive since it was built with granite, ( granite, another holder of radium is known to hold the radium for a very long time. )The radium levels are so high, it is even MORE than what nuclear power plants are allowed to produce.

8. Living in Denver, Colorado: Too bad I was born around here… but, living here has high radiation. Living at a higher level of altitude can give cosmic radiation to the thriving around this level. and that a problem for those who live at such areas such as Denver, though, because of this, people in theses areas get super healing powers instead of superpowers. Fair enough.

7. Exit signs: When the power goes out of a building, how come the exit signs are still on? The answer revealed: tritium in the signs, the worst part is that if the sign were to smash, the radium in the sign would escape and the radium would contaminate everyone in it and the building.

6. Kitty Litter: Re-think if you’re thinking of getting a cat, kitty litter is one of the main causes of radium in your house. The type of clay put in kitty litter to use to soak up kitty waste has traces of radium in it too. Yikes.

5. Bananas: WHAT? Yes, I know what all you banana lovers think. Too bad, the stuff is in their genetic code ( DNA ) so you can’t get it out, but at least you have to eat at least 5,000,000 of this stuff to get anywhere near the horrible radiation poisoning. Though as much as little bananas hold for radiation, radiation sensors still can sense this stuff.

4. Granite worktops on ANYTHING.: Nooooooooooooo! After knowing I have a granite bathroom sink countertop, I’m doomed to this stuff. There’s even a GOOD chance that whatever you have on that top has radioactivity.

3. Cigarettes: Cigarettes are bad for you.You know already, so why do I have to tell you again?

2. Old pottery and glassware: Get rid of whatever glassware and pottery stuff you have from the 1960’s and before that. Mostly pieces that have shades of red, orange and green are the worst. Sometimes, that stuff leaks lead. Hey, that means any old museum that has old pottery is radioactive.

1. Glossy paper magazines: The shininess in this paper comes from the same clay found in kitty litter, or at least similar. It can also be found in food additives and drugs. Hey, not only parrots chew up clay.

Chautauqua’s BracesBy Katherine Lambert

This story is about how Chautauqua got pink braces. ALL OF IT IS TRUE!

So Chautauqua was at the orthodontist to get his braces checked. Before it was his turn, there was a girl who was getting a retainer case. The orthodontist asked her what color she wanted. The girl said blue. “No,” her father said. “Blue is a boy’s color. You can get pink, or red, or fuchsia. But not blue.” The girl insisted, but her dad kept ignoring the fact that GIRLS CAN LIKE BLUE!!!!!! And saying it was a boy’s color. Eventually, her dad won, as they always do :(, and the girl got pink.

Meanwhile, Chautauqua was, as he said, FREAKING OUT!!! So, when the orthodontist asked him what color braces he wanted, he said pink. Just to prove that blue is not a boy’s color, and pink is not a girl’s color. Go, Chautauqua! YAAAAAAY!

Animation (3rd period)By Vivian Li

Yesterday, half of the photojournalism class went to Animation, and we learned how the Animation videos we see during the Noontime Shows are made. An object is made out of clay, and it’s placed under some lights and a camera(which takes the photo of the object). A computer is right next to the lights and camera, and the Animation class use an app called Dragonframe to create Animations. I would definitely take Animation!
