Stewardship’s Corner...The American Taxpayer Relief Act of 2012 has brought back the ability to withdraw from your

IRA tax-free and give it to charity for tax years 2012 and 2013. The IRA Qualified Charitable Distribution allows IRA owners

who are age 70 1/2 or older to take from traditional or Roth IRA and transfer the funds directly to a qualified charity. The

amount withdrawn counts towards satisfying the IRS Required Minimum Distribution and is not taxable income. The tax-free

charitable IRA distribution provision is temporary and will expire December, 2013.

2013 Vacation Bible School “God’s Backyard Bible Camp” We are very excited to announce our 2013 VBS God’s Backyard Bible Camp where kids have a blast serving Jesus! On

behalf of First Baptist Church, I am grateful for your service in this very important

mission in the life of our congregation. I hope you will take the opportunity to serve

in this year’s program that will be at the downtown campus from 9:00 AM to noon

the week of June 10-14, 2013.

Each day at God’s Backyard Bible Camp, children will participate in the large-

group excitement of a Backyard Bash opening celebration, small group discussion

in the Backyard Bible Club, and will spend time at Community Corner doing mean-

ingful hands-on service projects and crafts. Throughout the week, the children will

learn that faith means more than just showing up for church on Sunday morning,

and that they too can serve Jesus even as a young person!

As we begin to put together our 2013 VBS Staff Roster, could you confirm that you

will be helping this year? Call the church office TODAY and confirm with Caroline

Turnblad. Or you can email [email protected]. Also, save the date for a

VBS Volunteer Orientation Meeting on Wednesday May 1, 2013 immediately fol-

lowing prayer meeting in Davis Hall. We appreciate your willingness to be a bless-

ing in the lives of the children in our community here in Orangeburg.

In His Service,

Rev. W. Joel Campbell
