Diary Dates:
We are just over half way through the first
semester. We now have student representa-
tives that sit on various committees within the
School (refer to the list in this newsletter). This
important role involves attending monthly
meetings and providing that valuable link
between the programs and students. It is an
opportunity for the representatives to provide
feedback and information from a student
perspective and can help shape the future of
the programs.
We held the annual Recognition Evening on
Monday 15th April. The event was held in the
new Veterinary Building with 60 people at-
tending consisting of staff, students, parents
and the many donors that have donated
prizes to the School. 13 students from all three
programs and honours were awarded various
prizes based on their academic achieve-
ments. Congratulations to all winners, photos
can be found in this newsletter.
Exams will soon be upon us and for first year
students remember everyone learns differ-
ently so find a way that suits you and make a
plan. Plan a study schedule and ensure you
give yourself enough time in the weeks lead-
ing up to the exam. While some students may
find it beneficial to study in groups others
prefer to study alone. Whichever method you
use consider reviewing old exams, reviewing
lecture and tutorial material, get support if
you need it and ask the lecturers questions
they are here to help you and want you to
succeed.
All the best for the rest of Semester 1.

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) Adelaide University Equine Special Interest Group
On Saturday 6th April, 13 Equine Special Interest Group students participated in a Castration Clinic at Adelaide Plains Equine Clinic. The day went well with all students participating. We found out certain stu-dents are right handed strippers and that a good cas-tration is harder, faster, stronger. Many thanks to Elizabeth Woolsey-Herbert and the staff at Adelaide Plains for making this day possible. Thanks also to the ambulatory clinic for the donation of surgical gloves.

IS THIS YOU?
If the answer is YES then

STOP PROCRASTINATING & try these 8 simple tips
Procrastination = needless
stress for you. By procrastinating,
you put yourself under an energy-
draining emotional strain. Procrasti-
nation is the opposite of success.
Breakdown overwhelming tasks
into small ones.
Do a start-up task to break the
stalemate. If your goal is to get an
assignment completed, go to the
library and check out some inter-
esting books and periodicals on the
subject or do some research on the
internet.
Work on your goal for a set pe-
riod of time. Set a timer for 30 –
50mins and ensure you‟re in an
environment conducive to achiev-
ing your goal.
Use your moods to your advan-
tage.
Procrastination can also mask
ambivalence. If you‟re still doubtful
about your goal, list out the pros
and cons of accomplishing it. If the
advantages don‟t outweigh the dis-
advantages, then ask yourself why
you‟re trying to achieve this goal.
Make a contract with a friend or a
colleague that you’ll meet your
goal by a specific date. If nothing
else, fear of embarrassment will
motivate you.
Lastly, reward yourself for meet-
ing your goals beginning with
your first steps. Treat yourself for
achieving your goal!

nation contact Sally Polkinghorne
