Happy new year to all the readers.

2018 has ushered new thoughts, new

concepts in various areas. Last trimester

saw variety of activities including annual

Convocation with Dr C.N. Manjunath

gracing the occasion. This annual event

not only signifies validation of degrees

but is also a platform for recognizing the

achievements and rededication to the noble

profession. We had annual peer review of

our performance by eminent academicians

though Academic and Administrative Audit

in addition to variety of activities. Hope

this bulletin forms an interesting read .We

welcome suggestions and critiques.

5th Convocation

The 5th Convocation of BLDE (Deemed to be

University) was held on Sunday, November

26th 2017. Padmashri Dr. C. N. Manjunath,

Director & Chief of Cardiology, Sri Jayadeva

Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences & Research

Centre, Bengaluru, India was the Chief Guest

and delivered the Convocation Address.

Dr. M. B. Patil, Hon’ble Chancellor of the BLDE

(Deemed to be University) & Association and

Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, Govt. of

Karnataka presided over the Convocation. Prof.

M. S. Biradar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in his

welcome address, appraised the achievements

and progress made by the Institution Deemed

to be University.

Degrees were awarded to 117 MBBS

Graduates, 51 Post Graduate Degrees, 11

Post Graduate Diplomas, 01 Fellowship in

Pediatric Dermatology, 01 M.Ch. Urology, 02

Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).

In various categories, 19 Gold Medals were

awarded, Dr. Parmita Choudhury, MBBS,

bagged five Gold Medals and Cash Prize of

10,000=00, Dr. Uddiptya Goswami, MBBS,

Bagged two Gold Medals.

The ‘Young Scientist Award’ was awrded to Dr.

Ishwar B. Bagoji, Lecturer Dept. of Anatomy.

Convocation Address By The Chief Guest

Padmashri Dr. C. N. Manjunath, Director &

Chief of Cardiology, Sri Jayadeva Institute of

Cardiovascular Sciences & Research Centre,

Bengaluru, India, was the chief guest for 5th

Convocation of BLDE (Deemed to be University).

In his Convocation address, opined that, a

good doctor should adopt ethical practice of

‘Treatment first, Payment last’. He stressed the

need of continuous learning and updating of

knowledge in the medical profession He made

the students aware that patients are real text

books and patient provides more knowledge

on the disease. He also suggested the need for

sensitization and awareness regarding Organ

Donation.

Programme (RNTCP)

‘Active Case Finding for Tuberculosis’ was conducted

on 4th December 2017 to 18th December 2017 as

a part of Revised National Tuberculosis Control

Programme (RNTCP) by Govt. of India, in the field

practice area of Urban Health Training Centre,

Chandabowdi, in collaboration with UHC,

Darga. Suspected cases’ sputum was collected &

sent to District Tuberculosis Centre for evaluation

of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis. Health Education

was provided to all the residents present there with

the help of pamphlets & posters by the Interns and

postgraduate students.

NSS ActivitiesWorld AIDS Day: 1st December 1, 2017

On the occasion of World AIDS Day NSS Unit of our Institution organized a Rally from Our Institution to Shri Siddarameshwar Temple, this rally inaugurated by Dr. M. S. Biradar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor. This rally was organized to give awareness regarding AIDS and its prevention and social aspects to the public.

Dr. J. G. Ambekar, Registrar, Dr. Vijayakumar Kalyanappagol, Medical Superintendent, Dr. R. S. Bulagouda, NSS Coordinator, Staff and Student representatives were participated.

The rally was concluded by giving a talk on AIDS and Its prevention by the NSS Volunteers and Programme Officer.

The Institutional Annual Cultural fest Manthana-2k17 was celebrated from 28th to 31st October, 2017

28th October Diya Decoration competition was conducted in the library auditorium. There are 28 teams participated. The Fest was inaugurated by S. P. Guggarigoudar, Dean, Faculty of Medicine & Principal. All the cultural committee members, students participated in the inauguration and proceeded to the play ground with the musical band.

The other event, street play competition (Nukkad) conducted. Students from all the batches have participated in this competition.

On 29th October the other competitions– treasure hunt in the campus, singing was conducted. The majority of the students participated.

The movie - Nirantara directed by the students Prashant and Ankitreddy won the first prize.

Annual Cultural Day-Manthana -2K17 was celebrated on 31st October. The event was graced by Dr.Krishna Kulkarni, Research Historian, Adil Shahi literature Translation Project, Vijayapura as a Chief guest. The Guest of honour Dr. M. S. Biradar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Dr. J. G. Ambekar, Registrar, Dr. Vijayakumar Kalyanappagol, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Tejaswini Vallabha, Vice Principal and Dr. S. P. Guggarigoudar, Dean, Faculty of Medicine & Principal presided over the function.

Title - Breaking the orthodox and spreading as

a rainbow??

Sun rises in the east, the smallest and earliest ray

of light on the horizon sparking with the lowest

luminosity, met with a translucent, freezing

drop of dew in the atmosphere, at the smallest

hour of the day it pierced the drop, occupied

the lumen, melted the drop and melted it from

inside to outside... And then refracting and

spreading as a rainbow.

So it’s the dawn time, the rays have left the

ultimate source of energy, i.e. sun, and entered

in the atmosphere.

It’s not like that, the ray doesn’t have to

struggle, but it’s the journey of rays from a

general luminous white light to, amazing and

beautiful rainbow.. The rainbow that we are

expected to form is the one of peace and love

and at the same time showing the colors of art

and aggression..

Many rays from different and diverse sources

came and meet the drop named BLDE and

now undergoing transformation to be a unified

rainbow.

Where there are visible vapors in ignited

carbonaceous materials, there is conflagration.

Yes where there’s smoke, there is fire, while

we were carrying the fire in our hearts, BLDE

provided the well needed ignition fuel that

may lead that fire to come out and warm this

world, because winter is coming...

Exclusive dedication to necessitous chores

without interludes of hedonistic diversion

renders John a hebetudinous fellow.

Therefore, there in BLDE we are not only

studying but CCA activities are also welcomed.

So in the beginning, we had nothing, but

now we have most of it.As time doesn’t exist,

but the clock exists.What we were never

matters anymore. But now we are going to be

something, Yeah we are going to be Doctors.

Not just doctors, but 5 star doctors.
