Vol. XV Issue III Dec. 2014 St. Joseph School PreK-6 Middle School Musical Performed Kindergarten Tradition Continues
By Mollie Angel
Home, Sweet Home by Will Zinno
First grade teacher Courtney Pope and Jenna Hofherr are
proud of the gingerbread house Jenna made on December 4th.
Parents, grandparents, and friends helped 1st graders make
the houses. The school provided the plates, graham crackers,
and icing. The candied decorations were supplied by the
children.
Lars Westmoreland, Gage Kordsmeier, and Jacob Bailey
portray the Three Wise Men during the Middle School
Christmas Musical on December 11th. Entitled “In A
Galilee Far, Far Away: A Christmas Musical of Galactic
Proportions,” the evening also included a Christmas
Concert performed by our Bulldog Bands.

the Conway Christmas Parade held December 13. Seen
here are Abby Brewer, Anabelle Trusty, Richard Rappold,
Daniel Trusty, and Catie Brewer. Kendall Fillippino is
Behind Anabelle. The float was assembled by our school
PTO and Development Director Nicole Rappold.

Kindergartner Keaton Perry,
seen at left, holds the card that
starts the ABCs of Christmas
during the All-School Mass on
December 3rd.
The children in Charlotte
Moix’s and Lois Coney’s clas-
ses each raised cards above
their heads which represented
all the letters of the alphabet.
The letters symbolized people,
places, and things that reflect
the story of the birth of Jesus
Christ.
Ms. Moix says the ABCs of
Christmas began a year or two
before she started teaching here
30 years ago. (more on page 3)

Food Items
Collected For Needy
Sixth graders Dane Schrekenhofer and
Gabriel Stobaugh show what their fellow
students recently donated to the Community
Action Program for Central Arkansas
(CAPCA) Christmas Food Drive. CAPCA
runs a food pantry for needy families in
Faulkner and Cleburne Counties.
Each student was asked to give one item.
Children in grades K-6 brought boxes of
brownie mix. Boxes of stuffing mix were
provided by students in the 7th-12th grades.
Representatives from CAPCA collected the
food items on December 12th.

Fifth grader Diego Navarro is seen above leading a procession that
includes Father Robert Cigainero. They’re walking from downtown
Conway to St. Joseph Church on December 14 in honor of the feast
day of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This marks a time when Hispanic people recall an apparition of the
Virgin Mary who appeared to a Mexican peasant named Juan Diego
in 1531. His vision led to the conversion of millions of people to
Catholicism.
Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patron Saint of Mexico, and she is
deeply woven into the lives of Hispanic people. They turn to her
often for help and guidance. A shrine to Our Lady is seen at right
being carried behind the procession, along with colorful dancers and
musicians. After Mass, a celebration followed in the Parish Hall.
