A special thanks to our dance hosts at
the Sweetheart Dance for putting your
best foot forward!
As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point in the wrong direction. -Irish Blessing
On the Saturday following Valentine’s Day, NHABDA
hosted its Sweetheart Dance.
There was a large energetic crowd dancing to music
provided by Skot Pare “DJ with a Difference”. Skot, who
was making his debut with NHABDA, was well received. He
has a great selection of dance music and takes requests.
After a lot of positive feedback from dance attendees, we
booked him for future events.
Between the 50/50 raffle and the dance proceeds for the
evening, we raised over $1200 to help support Laura
Mailander’s fight against cancer. Thanks to all for helping
make this donation possible. We hope and pray that
her treatment is successful.
Many thanks to Ray & Maria Huard from Paper Moon
Dance in Merrimack for teaching a lovely Rumba pattern for
the pre dance lesson. After their performances at the
Eastern Dance Sport competition in Boston earlier in the
day, Paper Moon entertained us with some great dancing
for the showcase.
First up, Sarah & Ray took the floor for a dramatic
Viennese Waltz complete with numerous lifts. Then Maria
called upon her jungle creatures in the Youth (and young at
heart) Samba Formation where they worked and partied till
they dropped. Soon after, Mike & Eileen Morin, Quick-
stepped their way around the room with lots of kicks, hops
and jumps. For their last number, the Waltz team
performed an elegant formation, floating around the floor
in beautiful black & white ballroom attire.
Special thanks to Cheryl Hannaford (past NHABDA
President) for stepping in last minute to help with the
announcements while our president was preparing for the
showcase. Thanks to Paper Moon for pitching in with table
setups and to everyone who brought food to share. Thanks
also to our dance hosts for the evening: Bob Collins, Bob
Gadza and Larry Rumbaugh, to the Hannaford’s, Morin’s
and Carbonello’s for donating door prizes and to everyone
else who contributed to the evening’s success.
Like the warmth of the sun and the light of the day,
may the luck of the Irish shine bright on your way. - Irish Blessing
Hope you’ll all be wearing your green to our next dance.
We’ll be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday March
16th at Pinkerton Academy. The Ulbrich’s will be providing
the music and Theo Martinez will teaching a Hustle lesson
and also providing the showcase.
NHABDA welcomes everyone to our regular monthly
dances: From beginner to professional, singles and couples,
youth and young at heart, members and non-members,
part of a group or not and with or without a reservation.
Our members get discounted dance admission. We are also
pleased to offer a discounts to high school / college
students (with student ID) and to members of MASSABDA
and USA Dance.
In order to ensure that we have a seat for you and to help
expedite the check in process we ask that you please call,
text or email your reservation ahead of time, even if you
decide to come at the last minute. We want to make sure
we have a place for everyone and it really helps to know
how many tables to set up.

From The Outreach Group - Hillsborough County in Bedford, February 10th 2019
On Sunday, February 10th, five couples danced to about 45 residents, staff and visitors at Hillsborough County Nursing Home
in Bedford. Several couples danced with our dancers at the end of the event. One resident used to dance Country Routines
with us several years ago but had a stroke and has been in the nursing home since. I introduced him and his partner who
knew we were going to be there. Two of our dancers danced with each of them. He is in a wheelchair, and he enjoyed just
being wheeled around to the music. Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance and asked when we will be back. Our next
Outreach event is on Sunday, March 10th at Bedford Hills in Bedford.
If you know someone in a nursing home or health care facility, let me (Joyce Wilson) know and we can arrange to go there.
We are booked for the entire 2019 season and already have one booked for 2020.
