Turn Two for Youth, a non-profit, charitable

organization created by two baseball families on a mission to facilitate the enjoyment and expansion globally of youth baseball and softball, partnered with the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau and collected over 1,700 pieces of baseball and softball equipment for impoverished youth.

What started as a grass roots effort in North Carolina is quickly spreading to communities throughout the United States and the Chicago Southland. Donated items were collected through June and July and were picked up from the Oaks Recreation and Fitness Center in Mokena on August 3rd. “It’s a great feeling to be involved in such a wonderful charitable drive,” said Jim Garrett, President / CEO for the Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau.

“The Chicago Southland banded together to bring children from all over the world the gift of baseball and we are lucky to have had great partners like the Mokena Park District and Turn Two for Youth.” “We’re very excited that Turn Two for Youth was a part of Game Day USA’s events in Mokena, said Duane Smith, Recreation Supervisor for the Mokena Community Park District. “It’s nice to have an opportunity to give back to the community and provide equipment to impoverished children.”
