A suggestion has COiie to us fro1 the owner of a Hamilton radio station regarding a good Canada Day promotion. We feel

this suggestion has great merit and pass it on. It is surprising how few people in Canada are aware of the Canadian Bi'll

of Rights. Canada Day would be a good ti11e to produce a series of promos informing the public of the great significance

of this Bill and what it •eans to each of us, perhaps 1 even quoting parts of the Bill

and expounding on their meaning. SQunds like a good "Public Service Promotion" even

after July lst. lihile on the "be a good Canadian" kick we might mention a recent

incident in a •ajor Oshawa hotel involving a US visitor and a cashier. The exchange

rate offered on US funds was 5% which would discourage any tourist. We learned

radio stations coul d produce promos to encourage store owners and service station employees to pay a fair share of ex-

change on US funds.

CANADA DAY 1964 will be a t ruly Canadian day at many stations across t he BIGL.ANO. The response to our suggestion to program 100% Canadian content for July lst. was very encouraging. Granted, it would be a little difficult for the top rorty stations to make a full day of it but we understand a number of these stations will atteqit to program more of_ the domestic product fo r t his day. CHRIS LAWRENCE, CHrI Toronto, one of Can ada 's best known !JolP DJ's has co~iled a list of what he considers the most request ed of Canadian LP's. Chri s is a great booster of Canadian talent. In addition to playing t hese records f requently throughout the week he ·sets aside an hour every Thursday to interview and play only Canadian recording artists. ing because of our small market. Remember, we sell

as many records in Canada as they do i n the city of Philadelphia. That's what they say. Rita Pavone
