Camp Rock the Musical! By Haley Dion 8H  This year’s musical is “Camp Rock!” Camp Rock, the Musical is a combination of the music and scenes                                 from the Disney movies “Camp Rock” and “Camp Rock the Final Jam”. The musical is going to be                                 performed on February 6th and 7th, 2015. Soon, there are going to be auditions for the roles in “Camp Rock”,                                     which will occur on November 10th and 12th from 3:205:30 PM in the school auditorium. The first practice for                                   the musical is going to be held November 13th from 3:205:30 PM. There will be roughly 30 students involved                                   in the cast this year, including about 15 leads and supporting leads. The show is going to have tons of exciting                                       dance numbers, and cool, unique scenes. The Fine and Performing Arts Staff is producing the show and they                                 have great plans for the upcoming performances.  The Flash sat down and asked Mr. Benjamin, the director, some questions:  Q  “How did you chose the musical Camp Rock?” A “My grandson and I were watching Camp Rock 1 and 2 and really enjoyed them and he said to me "Can                                         you do that as your musical?" I researched it and found it was available to perform. The fine arts staff then                                       voted to do it!”  Q “What are the songs you are most excited to see performed on stage?” A "Camp Rock", "Last Summer", and “Fire”.   Q “How big are you expecting the cast size to be this year?” A “Thirty to thirty five members.”  Q “What is your biggest fear going into the musical?” A “My biggest fear is getting the whole show ready in just nine weeks!”  Q “Who are the other staff members helping you with the musical this                         year?” A “The entire Fine and Performing Arts Staff is going to be involved.”  The musical is going to be very exciting and fun for the  6th through 8th graders to take part in, and for the  BFCCPS families to watch! Stay tuned!

The PCO Update By Haley Dion 8H  Did you know that BFCCPS is not just made up of the Head of School, staff, and teachers? It is also                                       supported by a group of parents called the PCO. Now, you may be reading this and wondering, what is the                                     PCO? PCO stands for Parent Community Organization. The PCO is a nonprofit organization formed by                           parent volunteers who want to enrich BFCCPS students’ educational experiences. For instance, did you know                           that all the arts enrichment assemblies are organized and funded by the PCO?: The PCO does amazing                               things, yet not every student at BFCCPS knows about it or what the organization does. Banking, book fairs,                                 teacher appreciation week, box tops, and the Family Social, are just a few programs that run smoothly due to                                   the PCO’s dedication and hard work.   Within the PCO, there are many different leadership roles, including the President, VP, and Member at Large.                               The current Executive Board consists of Christine Santos as President, Joanne Fu as Vice president, Deb                             Leonard as Treasurer, Joanne Basile as Secretary, and Laura Markarian, Stephanie McGovern, and Leah                         Mercurio as the Members at Large.   So far, this year the PCO has organized three great activities, the Back to School Picnic, the Family Ice                                   Cream Social, and the Fall Fundraiser. The Back to School Picnic was a great way for new students and                                   returning students to get together, meet teachers, and pick up the annual yearbook. The Family Ice Cream                               Social was just as exciting! On September 19th, many students and parents attended the social and enjoyed                               a delicious ice cream treat, donated by TC Scoops. Along with the awesome family gatherings, the PCO was                                 also behind the fantastic Fall Fundraiser. All the proceeds from the fundraiser will go to all the upcoming arts                                   enrichment assemblies, planned for 2014 and 2015. The PCO does an excellent job fostering a sense of                               community among all the families and staff at BFCCPS!  Thank you PCO! Halloween Quiz! By Haley Dion 8H
