My VA New Jersey Veteran and Community Collaborative NetworkJanuary 28, 2017AUSA Board Members and Vietnam veterans Charles Seal and Paul Stevens attended the MyVA New Jersey Veteran and Community Collaborative Network public forum held at the George P. Vanderveer American Legion Post 129, Toms River, NJ. Representatives from both the VA Health Care System and the VA Regional Office were available alongside community partners to address concerns and collaborate to serve veterans in New Jersey.

Association of Old CrowsFebruary 2, 2017 AUSA Board Member, Jan Moren attended the AUSA Monmouth Chapter Corporate Member Association of Old Crows, Garden State Chapter Presents a lunch and learn function at Harris Corporation in Clifton, New Jersey. Dr. Yu-Dong Yao, Department Director of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Stevens Institute of Technology, and one of his Freshman Stevens Scholars presented a description of how AI has advanced in gaming technologies and gave an overview of technology advancement in AI, machine learning and deep learning m. Finally, Dr. Yao discussed intelligent learning systems, advanced research topics and potential electronic warfare applications.

Monmouth Park Charity Fund Kentucky Derby Executive Committee MeetingFebruary 8, 2017Monmouth Park Charity Fund Kentucky Derby Executive Committee Meeting Kit Roache, VP Programs, AUSA and Ellie Smith, Secretary, AUSA (Decoration Co-Chairs) for the Monmouth Park Charity Fund (Corporate Member) met with the committee at the new venue for the annual Kentucky Derby party which raised over $250,000 last year for local Monmouth County 501(c)3’s. Ellie and Kit have requested the charity form for AUSA to be considered as a recipient of 2017 donated funds. All recipient organizations are to be located in Monmouth County and provide services for healthcare, those at risk in the community and those in need of special services. We believe AUSA Monmouth Chapter’s work in our Service Dog Initiative, Veteran’s Health Fair and Veteran’s Stand Down fall into this category.

Ameripack MeetingFebruary 8, 2017Meeting at Ameripack Kit Roache, VP Programs and Ellie Smith, Secretary AUSA Monmouth Chapter met with Peter Martin, President/CEO and Bob LeGrand, Director of Business Development for Ameripack and reviewed AUSA Monmouth Chapter’s 2017 Program. Ellie and Kit presented on behalf of AUSA, presented Peter Martin with a framed, signed and numbered picture of the Fort Monmouth Gate by Anna Sang Justice. See attachment. Peter generously donated a Marine Corps footlocker for James Morrison (Service Dog Vietnam Veteran) and $500 to our Service Dog Initiative Golf Tournament. Peter also signed up as a new corporate member for three years.

CERDEC Flight Activity Ribbon Cutting CeremonyFebruary 10, 2017CERDEC Flight Activity Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, Joint Base McGuire – Dix - Lakehurst, NJ Ms. Kit Roache, Charlie Seal and Jan Moren, AUSA Monmouth Chapter Board members attended the U.S. Army CERDEC Flight Activity Hangar 10 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Friday, February 10th at 10:00AM. Guest Speakers included: -Mr. Gary W. Blohm, Director, Intelligence, & Information Warfare Directorate, U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center. -The Honorable Chris Smith, U.S. Representative for the 4th Congressional District of New Jersey -The Honorable Tom MacArthur, U.S. Representative for the 3rd Congressional District of New Jersey -Colonel David Caldwell, Commander, New York District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers -Mr. Henry J. This Field Trip was moderated by Colonel Samuel Fuoco, USA, Retired and SJVHS Assistant Athletic Director Pat Smith.

Eatontown Industrial Park Association General MeetingFebruary 14, 2017Eatontown Industrial Park Association General Meeting February 14, 2017 LTC (R) Rich Gaudio, AUSA Monmouth Chapter Treasurer represented our chapter at the first EIPA meeting of 2017. The event was chaired by Monmouth Chapter member Anna Mayer, EIPA Director. The guest speaker was Dr. James Prodian DC, CCSP, CSCS of Prodian Healthcare, Natural Healthcare Centers. The meeting was held at AUSA Monmouth Chapter Corporate Member Sheraton Eatontown Hotel in Eatontown, NJ. Attendees included over 50 owners and representatives of local business.

Rotary Club Meeting/LuncheonFebruary 16, 2017Colonel (R) Samuel Fuoco, USA and AUSA Monmouth Chapter Board Members LTC(R) Richard Gaudio, Ms. Kit Roache and Brian Dragotto attended the Red Bank, NJ Rotary Club Meeting/Luncheon at Navesink Country Club, Middletown, NJ. Colonel (R) Fuoco and Ms. Kit Roache presented the AUSA Monmouth Chapter Mission Voice for the Army-Support for the Soldier Brief and discussed mutual opportunities of support to 35 Rotary Club members.

AUSA Dix Chapter Meet and GreetFebruary 16, 2017Charles Seal, AUSA Monmouth Chapter, Board Member attended the AUSA Dix Chapter Meet and Greet at American Legion Post 294, 39 Fort Dix Road, Pemberton, NJ 08060. This was the first of 4 events that the AUSA Dix Chapter has scheduled to celebrate the 100-year history of Fort Dix. There were approximately 15 attendees. Guest speakers from the Fort Dix historical committee presented a very interesting slide show showing the development of Fort Dix that started on June 1, 1917 when 19 soldiers from Company C of the Twenty Sixth New Jersey Engineers arrived in the village of Wrightstown, NJ armed with the mission to establish a camp dedicated to training Army soldiers for World War I. The historical committee is searching for additional historical data in a continuous effort to refine the slide show.

AUSA Member Volunteers: Brian Dragotto, Terry Madden, Dennis Zilinski, Steve Marchi, Karen Conti, Marianne Moran, Laurel Gaudio, Jeff Cantor “Recruited Volunteers – nonmembers” : Aimee Gaudio, Terry Kurz, Meghan Barry Our fundraiser Breakfast hosted 135 attendees, enabling AUSA to host their best ever fundraising breakfast and the kick-off for our Service Dog Initiative 2017 Goals with a whopping $3,000+!! Corporate Member Ameripack made a generous $500.00 financial donation for the service dog initiative and a special Marine Corps Footlocker for Veteran Joseph Morrison. Commander Frank Brogna, VFW Post Harold Daley Post 1333, Asbury Park, made a heartfelt $500.00 donation and contribution to the effort! American Legion Post 129 from Tom River, Commander Mike Shaffer and crew arrived for breakfast and made a $500.00 donation to our effort! Donated items for the baskets and readymade baskets for our Tricky Tray: Karen Conti, Ellie Smith, Kit Roache, Michelle and Sean Goodheart, Cheryl and Michael Lane, Carol Shapiro, Tupperware, and Steve and Marianne Marchi, All Occasion Limousine. Special thanks to our elected officials! We were privileged to include Freeholder John Curley for a Honorary Membership Presentation to him reflecting his support for the AUSA Monmouth Chapter. Assemblyman Eric Houghtaling, a strong supporter of our chapter attended as well.

Kentucky Derby MeetingFebruary 21, 2017Corporate Member: Monmouth Park Charity Fund, Kentucky Derby Meeting, Blue Grotto, Oceanport, NJ AUSA Monmouth Chapter Board Members Kit Roache and Ellie Smith as Decorations Co-Chairs for the Kentucky Derby event on May 6, 2017 attended a committee meeting at the Blue Grotto. Petrera, AUSA Lifetime Member Seventeenth Annual "Hail and Farewell" at the Spring Lake Manor, Spring Lake Heights, NJ for Cocktail Hour, Dinner and Presentations. Attendees included BG (R) Ken Wondrack and Colonel (P) Edward Chrystal, DMAVA.

Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce Lunch and LearnFebruary 28, 2017Brian Dragotto, AUSA Member and future Social Media Marketing Board Member attended the Monmouth Regional Chamber of Commerce Lunch and Learn: BANKCODE Increase Sales, Communication & Navigation Skills at Federici's Restaurant, Freehold, NJ. Gloria Cirulli spoke to approximately 25 people at the lunch and learn event. She discussed her company’s proprietary system of sales, understanding that people fall into four categories; B.A.N.K. This stands for ‘blueprint’ ‘action ‘nurturing’ and ‘knowledge.’ Everyone has a four-letter code, and understanding each person is the key toward networking success. Crack the code, and appeal to their default system of thinking.

Women in Business LuncheonMarch 2, 2017Jenn Ryba, AUSA Monmouth Chapter, Board Member attended Women in Business Luncheon at The Wine Loft, Atlantic Highlands NJ. Monmouth County Chamber of Commerce presented Women in Business luncheon focusing on strategies to overcome fear. Casey Destefano, multimedia Marketer, was the guest speaker and related her experiences in production and directing to how to face fear head on. Her three key points were to know when you are in the comfort zone, know your passion and build the weapon against fear. The networking event hosted about 60 women and men in local businesses, primarily the banking industry. Two people were interested in our chapter and requested additional information on how they may be able to participate in fundraisers etc. Will send them info on the chapter and how they may be able to participate in fund raisers etc.
