Vodafone and Tenishia team up Article By: di-ve.com news
Vodafone is offering singers to team up with world renowned duo Tenishia in a bid to attract
the best talent around and search for a local voice to join them in their continued success.
TheTenishiaduo Cyprian Cassar and Joven Grech are not just interested in trance but in
various voices from different genres of music. Tenishia have once more made it to DJ MAG
top 100 DJs and this year their placing has improved by over 40 positions placing them 50th.
Vodafone Malta Brand Manager Maria Vella Galea, said that this initiative offers a great
opportunity to talented singers who really have something to offer. She explained the Raise
your Game concept stating that, “Raise your Game is all about offering the Maltese people a
once in a life time opportunity. Our commitment is to continue offering opportunities to all to
raise their game by building on the RaiseYour Game activities that Vodafone ran last year.”
Vodafone is promoting a positive attitude which encourages all to do better in everything they
do, even in small and insignificant actions that are performed throughout the day, which will
ultimately help make a big difference.
“Raise your power, raise your game, determination and will are the road to your fame. It
happened to us and it can happen to anyone else,” concluded duo Cyprian Cassar and Joven
Grech.
Those interested to raise their game are requested to send their voice demo on CD along with
an application form that can be downloaded from vodafone.com.mt/raiseyourgame

Vodafone moves to SkyParks Business
Centre
Vodafone has started the New Year with a new way of work life. Vodafone’s employees have
moved to their new fun and environmental friendly head office at the SkyParks Business
Centre just in time to start the year afresh. The transition has been completed in three different
phases, with the first one starting back in December. The group of Vodafone employees who
were the first to move included Vodafone’s CEO Balesh Sharma.
Over the last couple of years, Vodafone has invested a lot in instiling a culture of change so
that their employees would be able to leave their previous offices in Birkirkara one day and
work as usual from SkyParks Business Centre the next day, particularly due to the fact that
Vodafone’s new Head Offices introduced a number of innovative concepts including a
paperless office philosophy and a hot-desking policy.
“Over the last couple of years multiple projects and processes were undertaken to make the
move a smooth one,” said Antoinette Camilleri, Property Manger at Vodafone Malta. “We
have been gearing up for the move for the past two years, scanning, recycling paper in
different departments and archiving important legal documents that have to be retained. We
have constantly promoted a culture of change which has produced positive results. Team
members are embracing this change and it’s really great to see that our people are happy with
the smooth transition to the new offices and with their new working environment.”

The SkyParks Business Centre offers Vodafone employees an open plan environment where
they are working in a brand new corporate setting that enhances productivity, teamwork and
improves organisational communication. The furniture was selected with great care and
custom-made furniture was specifically designed for some areas, keeping in mind factors such
as space, comfort, durability, maintenance required and if it is easy to clean or not. Customers
were also kept in mind with different meeting room designs including areas for lounge and
business meetings and for casual meetings, state of the art multimedia facilities and handset
displays. The A+ equipment, with the choice of lighting and light sensors incorporated to
reduce utilities usage also played an important role in ensuring efficiency and sustainability.
Technology was also a big issue in the design and Vodafone made sure that they have a
wireless environment with no desk phones and wifi services available in the whole office
including the terrace.

GO employee sponsorship scheme Article By: di-ve.com news
GO’s Employee Sponsorship Scheme which support employees with a passion that goes
beyond their work will this month be celebrating its first anniversary.
The scheme highlights initiatives concentrating on charity, arts, sports and the environment
and was particularly effective in the area where employees requested sponsorships towards
participating in a humanitarian-focussed initiative that without support from GO would have
been difficult for them to pursue.
Chief Human Resources Officer Michelle Bonnici, said “at GO we are acutely aware that
creating a culture of change and responsibility starts with our people. Getting our employees
motivated and excited about being involved in leading-edge CSR initiatives – that are
effective from a humanitarian point of view – is a great way to begin and hence the onset of
our Emplyee sponsorship scheme.”
Paula Azzopardi from GO’s Quality Audit Department was sponsored for missionary work in
Mozambique. The trip took over two years of careful planning that included organising fund-
raising activities and even learning Portuguese to communicate with the local community of
Mapinhane, Imhambanee where the team of volunteers would be based. The nuns in
Mapinhane run a secondary school and during their time there, the team’s main focus was
carrying out maintenance in the school and building ‘Palhotas’ – the make-shift huts used by
the locals as houses. “Life is very simple out there, water is collected from boreholes, flint has
to be collected for cooking… food is limited and hot shower water is practically
inexistent,” said Paula on her return to Malta who admitted to being a changed person with a
more mature outlook to life after her gruelling Mozambique experience.
Jacqueline Cassar, an HR Specialist from GO’s HR Department, joined a group of 13 FACES
volunteers to work on a humanitarian project in Kenya. FACES is a voluntary organisation set
up with the mission of improving the quality of life for underprivileged people in developing
countries. The team’s work in Kenya involved carrying out embellishment works at the
orphanage, delivering an in-depth computer course and provide many other educational and

recreational activities to the orphanage residents. Prior to the trip, the team met up on a
regular basis and dedicated much of their time and energy in the run-up to the trip. Jacqueline
commented: “This was no mean feat; ensuring that once we arrived, everything was well
planned and all the required material for all that we planned was in hand.”
Bjorn Vassallo, Team Leader from GO’s IT Helpdesk headed a team on the famous 800-
kilometre trek of El Camino de Santiago in Spain to raise funds for the Inspire Foundation for
Inclusion. Bjorn walked 110km of the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage starting from Sarria in
Spain. “Walking the Camino for Inspire has proven to be an outstanding experience for me,”
said Bjorn Vassallo, “All the available places were taken up by a number of people with
mixed abilities. Their enthusiasm was encouraging and efforts at fund-raising amazing.
Thanks to their efforts and the generosity of sponsors, Inspire can continue to offer its
services to persons with disabilities – for which I am grateful and proud to have had a leading
role in the initiative.”

GO’s employee sponsorship scheme celebrates anniversary

In line with GO’s ongoing drive to support its employees in various ways, the scheme was launched to support employees with a passion that goes beyond their work focussing on a range of experiences that highlight initiatives concentrating on charity, arts, sports and the environment.
Almost 12 months down the line, there is no doubt that the scheme has proved to be one massive success and has achieved better-than-expected results in all the various spheres. The scheme was particularly effective in the area where employees requested sponsorships towards participating in a humanitarian-focussed initiative – that without support from GO would have been difficult for them to pursue.
Speaking about the GO Employee Sponsorship Scheme, Michelle Bonnici, Chief Human Resources Officer at GO said, “At GO we are acutely aware that creating a culture of change and responsibility

starts with our people. Getting our employees motivated and excited about being involved in

“We are extremely proud of the results achieved by employees who benefitted from the scheme last year, particularly Paula Azzopardi, Jacqueline Cassar and Bjorn Vassallo who utilised sponsorship funds to participate in humanitarian initiatives and who made a difference!”

“Apart from all the time and effort put in by the FACES team nothing would be possible without the
help of FACES’ sponsors and benefactors including GO. Besides contributing towards FACES projects, GO provided us with an incredible 8 laptops, without which, the computer course we provided for the children, would not have been possible,” she said.

Applications will soon open for employees interested in attaining support under GO’s Employee Sponsorship Scheme for the 2013 calendar year.
