The “Friends Club” is composed of energetic HRS participants who have great ideas and lots of energy!
The name “Friends Club” was unanimously voted on
by the group. The club meets in the HRS Computer
Room where they work on projects and other things
like completing their individual goals, planning and
participating in group activities, and coordinating
projects and special events.
One very popular activity every Friday is cooking.
The club plans the menu, buys the ingredients and
cooks the meal. It’s a great way to learn to cook as
well as incorporating menu choices, budgeting and
grocery shopping. Learning to identify different
aromas and tastes as well as the importance of healthy
food choices has really been an inspiration to club
members.
The Friends Club members are very proud of their
contribution to several HRS projects; the outdoor
Garden project and the Mural project in the HRS
Nursing Room have been very rewarding. Club
members personally went to different Home Depot
locations in Mission Viejo, Laguna Niguel, and Lake
Forest soliciting donations for gardening and paint
supplies. The City of Lake Forest Parks and
Recreation was also very generous in the donation of
supplies for the garden project. Club members visited
Vista Paint of Mission Viejo where they were given 18
gallons of paint for free! With the help of HRS staff
and participants the garden is thriving and the under
the sea murals look fantastic!
The club enjoys creating arts and crafts. WalMart in
Laguna Niguel gave the members of the Friends Club
a donation of schools supplies worth $100.00 for their
projects.
Club members Patsy Bunch, Michael Bracey,
Jennifer Burch, John Cameron, Craig Casper, Marion
Chapirson, Abel De Pierre, Nenita Esquera, Stephanie
Frisone, Alan Foster, Lou Ann Hillard, Christopher
Peckham, Mary Vournazos, Genene Wallace and
Cesar Zayas are looking forward to more activities
that will challenge and develop their skills.

Eat & Greet, Support Our Fleet
P a g e 3
Vocational Visions’ second annual “Eat & Greet, Support Our Fleet” fundraiser was held on October 13, 2012. It was a fantastic day with over 100 guests enjoying an impressive on-site BBQ including chicken skewers, sliders and home made
guacamole hosted by West Coast Prime Meats and Nickco Hospitality Group, which includes Nick’s Restaurants in Laguna
Beach, San Clemente and Long Beach. The food was fantastic and we truly appreciate Nick and his crew for making it a
memorable BBQ!
The Chance Auction and Bake Sale items were a big hit again this year. The Bake Sale included a Vocational Visions’ Dessert
Recipe book for purchase. Activities included participant arts and crafts as well as a Vocational Visions’ information booth.
One of the highlights of the day was the crowd enjoying karaoke performers in the clubhouse area.
The event netted over $12,000 to help upgrade, purchase and maintain our fleet of vehicles. Vocational Visions’ vehicles
transport participants to their job sites as well as daily community activities. With the help of last year’s “Eat & Greet,
Support Our Fleet” fundraiser and this years success, Vocation Visions purchased three new vans for our programs! See
photos of our new vans on page five of this newsletter.
We truly appreciate the continued support from our donors, guests, sponsors, volunteers and staff. You have all created
possibilities for people with disabilities! See you all next year!

Garage Sale 2012
Vocational Visions’ Safety Committee
Vocational Visions’ 5th Annual Garage Sale Fundraiser
was held on Saturday, September 15, 2012.
This huge success came on one of the warmest
summer days of the year, raising $11,111.57 to support
Vocational Visions.
We thank everyone for
their support and a big
hurrah to our dedicated
volunteers!
Vocational Visions’ Safety Committee has a
very important role at Vocational Visions.
The committee meets monthly to discuss
safety issues - issues that concern all of
Vocational Visions’ participants and staff.
The committee evaluates earthquake drills,
fire drills, work place safety and building
maintenance. They have been instrumental
in maintaining up to date safety regulations
for natural disaster preparedness and
updating the organizations’ safety manual.
Great job Safety Committee;
keep up the good work!
With the success of the
additional funds raised at
the Eat & Greet fundraisers
in both 2011 and 2012,
Vocational Visions has been
able to purchase three new
Dodge vans.
These vehicles will help Vocational Visions continue
transporting participants to job sites as well as
community outings.
We are grateful for the continued support we have
received to help us make the purchase of these vehicles a
reality. We hear each day from our participants how
much they love to ride in the new Dodge vans!
Thank you donors and sponsors for
your continued support!
