Process

The process VMI-Processing with EDI Integration enables an automatic processingof the VMI Information via EDI.

The following processes can be mapped with this solution

1. Storage location fill-up of a customer consignment storage location (ESA)

2. Direct shipment without customer consignment

Process description:Forecast delivery schedules (optional) received from the OEM are included in thesales scheduling agreement of the component supplier. VMI-Information (IDocPROACT) received from the OEM can automatically update the masterdata table.

Due to the stock situation at the component supplier or the customer/ESA andconsidering adjusted parameters (minimum stock level, maximum stock level), astorage location fill-up occurs by the component supplier.

Concept

VMI parameter (e.g. minimum stock level, reorder stock level, maximum stocklevel) can be defined in the masterdata table per sold-to party, ship-to party andmaterial. Some fields can also be updated automatically via the VMI messagefrom the customer

A program selects all VMI-relevant scheduling agreements (restriction, for

example, via scheduling agreement type, planning delivery schedule instruction)and a planning delivery schedule from the forecast delivery schedule isgenerated. Here, the data is copied from the forecast delivery schedule andenriched with a 'VMI schedule line'. The quantity for this 'VMI schedule line' iscalculated from the provided current customer stock or the own stock at the ESAand the VMI parameters

Due to the relevance for MRP and delivery of the 'VMI schedule line', the MRPcan be enriched with requirements and an storage location fill-up (deliverycreation) is made possible

Extract of functions

Flexible control of the process (sold-to party, material, plan DS instruction)

Consider/control backlog or immediate requirement from the forecast delivery schedulewhen generating the planning delivery schedule

Two calculation logics (Fixed quantities or reach of coverage)

Dynamic calculation of the consumption for the dynamic calculation logic

Use of reorder stock level and target stock level parameters for optimized shipment.

Add fix quantity logic or rounding logics due to lot sizes or Handling-Units

Different stock levels can be considered to define the total stock level according to thecustomer logic (customer stock free / in quality /locked; consignment stock free / in quality /

locked)

At the customer consignment process (ESA) the own customer consignment stock can beoptional considered

Stop functions at the inbound processing if the VMI message, e.g at changing Min/Maxparameters from the customer
