The production department of Veekesy Rubber Industries has a crucial and significant role in the entire transformation process of materials to finished goods. It takes input such as raw materials, labour, machines and building etc. the material handling involves a proper transfer of materials from one section to another for the purpose of processing. There are various material handling machines used in the Veekesy Rubber Industries.

PRODUCTION PLANNING

Planning is the function of looking ahead, anticipating difficulties and taking steps to remove the courses before they materialize. Production planning, in particular would therefore consist mainly of the evaluation and determination of production inputs such as labour, machinery and equipment, materials and utilities to achieve the desired goals.

PLANT LAYOUT

The company is established as a multi storeyed building. Production process done in the ground floor so that it will be convenient to transfer raw materials and finished goods. The administrative works are conducted from the first and second floor.

THE PRODUCTION PROCESS

The production process of Hawai Chappal is done with the help of well equipped automatic machines .The entire process of manufacturing begins with proper and systematic transfer of raw materials through proper channels of production. The major raw materials used for chappal manufacturing are: rubber ,china clay chemicals like crumb, zinc, filler, sulphur , blowing and lubricants like DEG oil ,SP oil silicon etc .and added colours.

The process of manufacturing of Hawai chappals is given bellow:

.Preparation of Hawai sheet

The process of manufacturing of microcellular sheets is well known one .Different manufactures using different formula . The beginning raw materials are weighted according to the combinations ,these may be varied depending upon the required quality of hawai sheets.

The main process carried out in first step is mixing the ingredients and assembling into rubber sheets. The machine used for this process is a called Roll mixing mill or heat mixer. Based on the product requirements the quantity of ingredients varies.

In the second mixing mill, final mixing mill is done, and it is used for warming process too. The blowing and vulcanizing agent are added in the similar proportion in to the compounded mixture. The blowing agent in the sheet creates air pockets in the Hawai sheets giving a cushion effect to the sheets. It takes fifteen minutes to warm. Both machines contains


cooler inside to control the heat. The compound is then sheeted and cooled. It will hardly take six to eight minutes vulcanization. Then rubber will be cut in to correct size of the mould and transferred to hydraulic press.

Hydraulic press, this is third machine using for production of hawai sheets. The activity undergone here is moulding. In this moulding process, the rubber sheets are pressed for nearly six minutes at three thousand pressure. Thermic fluid heater is used to generate heat. After six minutes it automatically comes out when it reaches its full state. This process produces sheets with design sole and insole molded on it.

If the ingredients are not properly mixed or due to the lack of the time keeping, it may cause damage to the chappal, affects the flexibility softness etc.

. preparation of strap:

The strap is made of natural rubber for getting more flexibility. All ingredients apart from crump, which are used hawai rubber sole, are also used to make the rubber straps. rest all the process is similar to the making of hawai chappals. When it comes to hydraulic strap press machine, the sheets are pressed three thousand pressure with the temperature of 155 to 160 degree Celsius to form a strap. Hydraulic strap press machine is used for this process. Silicon is sprayed on the mould and sheets are loaded up to three and half minutes. The cure time of moulding is five minutes and it is automatically opened.

The moulded sheets are trimmed to form the finish straps. They are cutted it in to required sizes. This straps are then sent to strap fitting for assembling. Then holes are drilled using drilling machine on the chappal for fitting straps. After drilling the holes, the straps will be fitted to sole. Then the products are packed in to plastic covers for selling.

. Inspection:


The chappals are inspected and rectified. the damaged chappals are removed .it is made by comparing the actual quality of the product with the standard.

.Sticker application:

Sticker application comes after the inspection .sticker includes details about its size ,name ,model ,and price etc.

.packing:

Here each pair of chappals are first packed in a polythene bag and then into a hard board boxes and sent to stores.

Kneader- It is used for the expansion of rubber sheets. Hydraulic press- It is used for vulcanization Power cutting press-It is used to cut the sheets into required size. Drilling machine- It is used for making holes and assembled to make

hawai chappals. Strap press- It is used to produce strap for hawai chappals.

2) Price mixIt is a risky task. Having made decision about product, the marketer needs to decide how to price them. Price is the amount of money asked in exchange for product. It must be reasonable so as to enable the consumer to pay for the product. If it is higher, most of the consumer rejects it. While fixing the price of a product the management considers certain factor such as cost, ability of the consumers competition, discount, allowances, margin of profit etc.

3) Place mixIt is the delivery of products at the right time at the right place. It is the combination of decision regarding channels of distribution, transportation, warehousing and inventory control.

4) Promotion mixPromotion consist of all activities aimed at inducing and motivating customers to buy the product. There are many alternatives for promoting the products. The selection of alternatives determines the success of marketing efforts. Some firm use advertising; some other personal selling or sales promotion. Thus promotion includes


advertising, public relations, personal selling and sales promotion. Simply promotion is the communication between seller and buyer. MARKET RESEARCH Marketing research helps in analyzing the buyers habits, popularity of a product, and effectiveness of advertising media. Profit earning is the main of every activity. No business can survive without any profit and it measures the efficiency utilization. PURCHASE PROCEDURE

The details of purchase procedure may differ from firm to firm. However , the basic steps in purchasing materials are common . These are as follows;a)Receiving purchase requisition The purchase department will initiate to purchase materials only after a purchase requisition . it is a formal request to the purchase department to purchase materials specified in it. Thus it authorizes the purchase department to purchase materials . The purchase requisition contains particulars like materials require , date by which materials are


required and name of requisition department etc. It is prepared by the store keeper.b)Inviting quotations and tendersOn receipt of the purchase requisition the next step is to select the suppliers from whom materials are to be purchased .Generally the purchase department maintains a list of suppliers in terms of price , quality etc .the suppliers are selected by issuing tenders by inviting price quotations from the suppliers.c)Selecting the suppliersOn receipt of quotations a comparative statement of all quotations received is prepared to know the lowest price quotations and best terms and conditions offered .In this way the supplier whose quotation price is lowest , favourable in terms of conditions and quality is selected with whom purchase order is to be placed.d)Placing purchase orderPurchase order is an order placed with the supplier asking him to deliver materials and goods stated there in .purchase order contains information regarding name and address of the purchaser , name address of the supplier ,quantity required ,date of delivery , terms of payment etc.e)Receiving of materials In small concern the responsibility of receiving and inspection of materials is entrusted to the store keeper . but in large concerns there will be a separate receiving department to receive materials .After taking delivery of goods ,the receiving clerk verifies the contents the packages . If there is any damage it will be noted in the consignment note.
