Introduction | Courses

First Aid Courses oFFered

4 day First Aid at Work – A full Health and Safety Executive (HSE) approved First Aid at Work course, in accordance with the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations. Once qualified, holders of this First Aid at Work certificate can be used as First Aiders in the workplace in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act. This course can be adapted to suit a particular audience, for example, clerical or engineering staff. The First Aid at Work course is run over four days and includes both theory and practical sessions. By arrangement the course can be run on non-consecutive days, for example - one day a week over four weeks or two days on two different weeks.

2 day FAW refresher Course - this course is run over two-days and allows for re-certification of First Aid at Work qualified staff as long as it is started prior to the previous certificate has expired. The course can be run on non-consecutive days, for example - one day a week over two weeks.

1 day emergency Aid - the suggested minimum requirement for any workplace first aider Basic Life Support – an introduction to basic life support to maintain a casualty’s condition until the emergency services arrive.

4 hour defibrillator course (Aed) – an introduction and qualification for people who have availability to and/or responsibility for a defibrillator.

First Aid for Babies and Children – a course aimed at those working with young children or for parents who want to learn the basics of paediatric first aid to ensure they are prepared in case the worse should happen. Sports First Aid – courses specifically designed for those taking part in or coaching sport.SIA accredited first aid course - When applying for your licence you will be required to produce evidence that you have attained a recognised first aid award. You should present your valid first aid certificate to your training provider before you start your training. If you do not have a recognised first aid award you will need to get one in order to get your licence. This is in addition to the minimum 150 hours knowledge and practical skills training. First aid awards recognised by the SIA are: First Aid at Work - 4 day course (HSE approved) First Person on Scene (FPOS) Intermediate Award - 30 hours (Edexcel / IHCD)
