Chapter 1 Preface

1.1 EquipmentDescription

The VISTA series Large Format Digital Inkjet Printer is produced by the Beijing JinHengFeng Digital

Science & Technology Development Co., Ltd. It is digital equipment, which is controlled by the computer,

can output colorful images automatically.

1.1.1 The Expected Aim of the Equipment

It can be used for outdoors printing such as large format advertisements, bus ads, light box, poster, display,

stage backgrounds, signboards, and etc, which needs durability and high speed.

1.1.2 Media for the Equipment

Solvent based flex, paper, banner, mesh, vinyl and so on. Any media manufacturer is ok, but good quality

media is strongly suggested to get great printing impact and longer outdoors life.

1.1.3 Ink for the Equipment

Solvent based inkoil based ink, UV inkthis is up to the print head model and ink supply system and

resolution.. Any ink manufacturer is ok, but good quality ink is strongly suggested to extend the print

heads life, get great printing impact, and longer outdoors life.

Grounding: The printer must be grounded; the earth-plate must be firm and effective, so that the printer can

prevent itself from static and leakage. If you dont have the standard grounding device in the workshop,

you must do as the following:Dig a hole of 1 meter-length,1 meter-width and 1.5 Meter-depth, put one piece of metal plate, especially

copperplate, of 10mm-thickness and connect a lead wire to the ground as the grounding end. You should

not use the pipe or the conductor you think of. The static of the printer can not be higher than 5V!

1.2 Safety Precautions! Warning!

Vista printers are designed accord with all the safety requirements of printing equipments. But to

ensure 100% safety, the operator should follow the safety precaution and operation instruction of this

manual and the improved version in future seriously.

Only the operator who is correctly trained, and qualified to operation can be allowed to do installation

& maintenance.

Without JHFs written permission, any modification, deletion, or replacement of is prohibited; if did

the machine warranty will be invalid immediately.

The operator should learn this manual seriously and keep the manual somewhere which is easy to get.

Since the equipment is a separate system, please do not use same power supply with other

power-eating equipments or electric interferential equipments to prevent the machine from electric

harm.

During the process of equipment works, the abruptly power off or Over-strong voltage(current) willbring to un-forecast damages.

Neither let the equipment works near flammable liquid or gas, nor under the environment of excessive

dry and wet place.

To prevent the electronic parts from hot, please do not block the intake.

The computer is only used for controlling the printer. You are recommended that you wont install any

other software except the printing software lest occur the software interference caused by virus or

different RIP software, and decrease the working speed and even the computer freezes suddenly. You

are also recommended that you have another computer for designing the RIP file purpose. When the

RIP file is ready, you save it in the printers computer. You are recommended to delete the file or save

the file in disc, floppy disc or other computer after the file has been printed instead of saving the file in

the printers computer.

The ink and solution are harmful for peoples eyes and skin; you should clean it as soon as it splashes

into the eyes.

The ink and solution have the property of volatilization, so you should cover it when it isnt used

against the volatilization of the efficient components, which may cause the ink and solution

invalidation. The invalid ink will damage the print head. The ink should be shook before it will be

used.

Please make sure there is no ink on the electric circuit board and cables lest circuit short or turn-off.

It is strongly suggested that you turn off the general power before you disconnect or connect any parts

of the printer.

Some cables in chain along the print-head carriage move frequently, so the connection on both ends

should be fixed tightly in case the strong movement causes the phenomenon of incomplete sending

-signal.

It the equipment can not work normally, please check the troubleshooting and make some

maintenance and repair, and also you should contact with service department of JHF company to get

some help.

JHF Company can not promise that once a person read this manual then he/she can be eligible to

operate, test and calibrate this printer.

JHF Company has right to explain this manual, and can not ensure this manual is totally accord with

2.2 System Performance

2.2.1 Mechanism System:

The structure map of the mechanism system is as follows

VISTA-UM/C/M model, mechanism system as picture description.

2.2.1.1. Media Movement

It includes media movement system and printhead carriage movement system.

Media movement system includes initiative movement system and driven movement system.

Initiative movement system:

It includes stepping- motor driver, stepping motor, reducer and initiative roller.

The initiative movement system can move or stop after receiving the order of printing software from the

computer. The moving orientation and distance of the media can be changed by the way of changing the

relevant parameters in the software. For more details of the parameters adjustment in the software, please

refer to software explaining chapter.

Driven movement system:

It includes Reducer, Magnetic-flour clutch and media feeding and winding roller. The media roller switch

on the panel of the printer controls the movement of the driven movement system.

2.2.1.2..Carriage Movement

The Movement System of the Print head carriage is also named as Servo Control System. It includesServo Motor, Reducer of Servo Motor, Driver of Servo Motor and Feeding Belt.

The print head carriage receives the order from the printing control software in the computer, and it will

move or stop through the feeding belt. The movement of the Servo Motor is controlled by the Driver of the

2.2.3. Ink supplying system

2.2.3.1. 4 color/8 print head ink supplying system diagram

Explaination:

supply the ink, the senser of the ink position is under the ink box, the signal show the path. now the ink supply board link the

24V and the ink pump is working, input the ink into the ink box; when the senser go to the up point, the the signal come out

the short circuit and stopping the ink supply. when in the working , the position of the ink box will downing, and the ink

position will uping after supplying the ink., and then keep to a suit range ,so getting the stable working the alarm is up when

short of ink,and the operater replace the ink according to the alarm sound.

Note:

1. Ink supply, supply the ink, the senser of the ink position is under the ink box, the signal show the path. now the ink supply

board link the 24V and the ink pump is working, input the ink into the ink box; when the senser go to the up point, the the

signal come out the short circuit and stopping the ink supply.

2. When in the working , the position of the ink box will downing, and the ink position will uping after supplying the ink.,

and then keep to a suit range ,so getting the stable working

The electronic circuit diagram

The electronic circuit of electromagnetism valve and air pump is link parallely, and they will work together

and press the ink automatically to meet the aim of balancing the air pressure.

Instuctions

1Printing: only A and C is thorough when normally working to keep the air pressure banlanced.

2Press the ink: press the button, the air pump press the air to electromagnetism valve and it will work ,

this time B and A is thorough to keep the effect of press ink.

3Printing: loose the button, the air pump and electromagnetism valve all stop working, now the A and C is

thorough to keep the balance of ink box pressure.

4Cleaning the ink from the surface of printhead and beginning working.

2.2.4. The controlling system

The controlling system of VISTA printer consist of computer, relavant electronic circuit board ,the

controlling switch, electronic cable etc.

This equipment mainly use 10 operating switch.and the emergency switch is press button, the others is

toucher button.

The software is controlled by the computer, all the other equipment is controlled by electronic controlling

board, you can get the expectation effect through pressing the on/off button on the handle board. And the

Define of equipment on/off:

Emergency Switch: press, it is turned off, it will cut the power of servo motor driver, and the carriage will

stop moving. This operation will prevent the print heads and other parts from exceptional damage, but it

will also break the normal printing. So this operation must be used carefully.

General Power: press, it is turned on, the light will be on, the printer will get power. The 5V/24V, 48V

switch power supply and servo motor driver are turned on.

Fan: press, the fan power is on, the light will be on, and the fan will work.

Print Heads: press, the light will be on, the print heads will get power. The 35V switch power supply is on.

Button 1,2,3,5,6,7: the light will be on, and they controls the feeding and collecting separately, and connect

the related single phase motor.

Observe and make sure the off status of the machinePressing the general power button, the signal light will be on,the full machine will receive the light.

Setting up the computer and set up the printing controlling system.

Pressing the printhead button, the signal light will be on,the printhead will receive the light.

If you want to make the picture dryer, you can press the fan button.

You can press the button automatic collecting positive rotate, handle feeding positive rotate handle

feeding reversed rotateautomatic collecting reversed rotate

Attention: press two button or more in the same time is prohibited .that means only one signal light is on,

otherwise the single phase motor will not run

Firstly pressing the button in working, make the signal light off. and then press the button named general

power to make the signal light off.from then on the electronic circuit between the machine and the outside

will be cutted off.

The sequence of the turnoff is 4-3-2-1

As for the operation of the software controlling system ,please see the software demonstrateion.

2.2.5. The maintenance system (equipped according to the user)

The maintenance system consist of : one set of vacuum dust collector

the professional tool for cleaning the print head: glass needle tube, test paper, resolution

Chapter 3 Operation

3.1 Operation Order

When you are using the printer the first time, please follow the below procedures.

3.1.1. Power Operation

Make is sure all the buttons and switches are turned off, check if the mechanism parts was blocked or

not.

On the UM model, turned on the printer general power brake, (AC, 220V, 50HZ, make it sure the

power supply is connected to ground.). On the C model and M model, just turn on the general power.

Turn on the computer with Windows XP, install the PCI card and driver, software. (Please refer to the

software installation manual)

Before printing, please make it sure that the distance switches work well. Please refer Chapter 6,

section 2.

3.1.2. Install Media

For C/M model, please feed media as the above picture.

For UM model please, feed media as the above picture.

Please put the media between the two feed rollers, thread through the feeding wheels and press wheels,

align the media edge, press the media handle, move the media and see if it is flat or not. If not, please do it

again.

3.1.3. Install Print Heads

Clean print heads (refer to print heads maintenance)

Afix the print heads by M2*10 bolts on the print heads plate,

Bfix the print heads plate on the carriage by M3*5 bolts.

When you install the print heads or uninstall them, please do not turn on the printer power. Please

ware special gloves to keep from static. The static will damage the small print heads boards.

3.1.4. Check the Electric Circuit Board

1-Turn on the general power to check the color-distributive board to make sure the light of 5v-power on the

power supply board is shining.2-Turn on print head power and check if the indicator lights of 35 V on power-supply board and color

distributive board are shining.

The electric circuit board will normal work if the step of 1 and 2 are all right.

3.1.5. Ink-supply

Supply the ink to the secondary ink tank:

A) Make sure all levels ink tube connect right , firm.

B) Turn-on the power switch of the printer.

C)

D) Make sure the four switches on the ink-supply circuit board are ON. E) When you turn on theink-supply power, the indicator light which is on the ink-supply board will be shining, and the four

ink-pumps will be turning. Then the secondary ink tank will reserve ink and the pump will stop working. It

is caused when the ink rises to a certain level and the ink-level sensor inside the secondary ink tank sends

signal to the pump.

Supply ink to the print head

Method A:Push one piece of injector to the secondary ink tank until the ink dripping from the nozzles of

the print head, and then take away the injector gently and slowly. Check if the ink flowing from the print

head is normal by the test paper.

Method B: Use the vacuum cleaner to suck ink from the surface of the print head until the print head are

filled with inks, and then move away the vacuum cleaner. Check if the ink flowing from the print head is

normal by the test paper.

Method C: Two operators are needed, one adopts the method A, and the other adopts the method B at the

same time.

3.1.6. Suck the print head

Make sure the carriage stopped on the original

Auto-pump: click auto-pump in the software, click CMYK one by one till

Manpower pump: pumping print head one by one with the vacuum,

3.1.7. Check the print head

Test method of test paper: making a CMYK color bar and printing by 1 pass, Check if the ink flowing

from the print head is normal by the blank test paper.

Test method of software: click flash function in the software, check if the print head and the ink flowing

are normal by the blank test paper.

3.1.8. Start to print

Please print the needed image according to the usage of the printing software.

3.1.9. Finishing printing

Exit the printing software, and turn off the print head switch, computer, heater switch, general power

switch( breaker of general power ),and shut the door of electric box.

3.1.10. Maintenance of the print head

Please refer to Chapter Five

It is deemed as the whole operation is finished from 1to 9

Chapter 4 The installation explaining of the printing software

The printer need RIP software to support it to work normally because of limit of hardware and driver. RIP

is the interpreter transforming character, graphics and image into the raster lattice format, which is readable

to machine. This machine adopts Maintop RIP. MAINTOP Colorful Publishing System Software

manual along with Vista Inkjet Printer will be provided with customers. Please refer to it by yourself.

The Printing Management System of VISTA printer works through the PCI card in the computer and

controls the machine. To be conveniently, we integrated it with MainTop, when you installed MainTop, the

Printing Management System will be installed at the same time.

4.1 Install PCI Card

4.1.1. Set-up Window XP System or Window 98 system

4.1.2. Set-up the driver of PCI card

Put PCI card inside the main frame of the computer. Restart the computer, The computer will show the

dialogue as follows:

Choose the second item, click the Next button, it will show the dialogue as follows:

Put the Maintop installation disc into the disc driver. Choose Include this location in the search

, click the Browse button to find Maintop/PCL_DRV Directory and then click OK

4.2. Installation of the system of the printing software.

If it displays JHF-128, it means the power is installed correctly

If customer change the type of the machine, customer also need resetting the port of the printer. And

handle above 14 steps again.

If dont change the type of printer, you can use the finished setting printer port and print all kinds of

file processed by rip. these files which are printed file are edited and processed by the third software

before the RIP. The format is TIFF

BMP

JPEG

EPS

PS

PDF ect. The specification will introduceit by Photoshop next chapter.

4.3 The printing process

The control software of the type of printer collects a software.After finishing the Maintop multicolor

electric publishing system V5.2 ,the following two dialogue come out .

Click the maintop ,and enter the Maintop multicolor electric publishing system V5.2(professional

publish) ( for short DTP) DTP have designmaking and output function. Then using rip inside DTP

and directly output. At present the image format file of GPF JIF PCX is output to JHF RIP

management system directly according rip inside DTP.

Click the JHF printing control system will enter JHF management. It is printing service management

program lonely outside window. All managing printer and printer working according to it, that mean

the printing working processed by rip will be printed according to printer.

4.3.1.Software control flow during printing process

because the white instead for the pvc basic fabric on the equipment, but the black circle instead for

A4 page layout defined by us previously. This need be adjusted during the following handling.

Print Heads Parameter Setup

Choose the quantity of the printhead with the printer.

Choose the group of the Printhead. Please choose first and second group for printer with 8 printheads,

choose first, second and third group for the printer with 12 printheads.

Distance between the same colors of the printhead.

The first step pf adjustment of printhead is to adjust the horizontal distance and make the printheads

vertically on one line. The default dots of the distance between two same colors of the printhead are 140.

We can change or settle this according to printing color bar and to make the printheads are in line with each

other in vertical direction.

The width of the dot is 1.44 mm, when increasing the value, the position of the second or the third

printhead will move to the left accordingly.

Vertical distance among every color print-heads

The second step is to adjust vertical distance between print-heads of the same color, which is the

vertical distance of the same color print-heads of the four groups. You should adjust it by altering the dataof vertical distance among every color print-heads. You will use this selection when there is superposition

or clearance between the two print-heads of the same color loaded newly.

The two print-heads of the same color will be close to when decreasing this data

at the time of calibration. On the other side, the clearance will increase.

Horizontal distance among every color of print-heads.

After calibration for the same color print-heads, then you use horizontal distance among every color

print-heads to adjust the horizontal distance among every color print-heads. The calibration bases on theK color print-heads. After the adjustment of distance between Carriage and K(100 point as usual), then

adjust the value of K-C, K-M, K-Y till there is no superposition and clearance among the test bars of every

color. Decreasing the value when calibration, the two print-heads of the same color will separate, by

contraries, the clearance will reduce.

Setting-up of color bar/ Vitta Setting

This selection is used for choosing printing color bar, testing its position and width of the color bar.

The advantage of printing the color bar is to grasp the state of the print-heads at any moment.

Setting-up of automatic suck while printing/Printing Auto Pump Setting

This selection is used for preventing from blocking of the print-heads when printing. The printing headwill be sucked automatically during the printing process. You will set up not to suck the printing head,

or set up the number of alternation (pass) for the clearance of suck.

Print Choice

The users will choose single directional printing or bi-directional/double printing.

The speed of single directional printing is a half of bi-directional printing.

Bi-directional calibration/Bi Calibration (Dot)

If the users choose bi-directional printing, when the vertical margin of two pass that is printed is out of

order, you will precede bi-directional calibration by inputting the value of bi-directional calibration. If

you increase 10 points (1.41mm), the second pass will move the distance of 10 points to the left.

Feeding calibration/Vert Calibration (Dot)

If there is clearance in the horizontal direction between the near two pass in the process of printing,

the users will alter the value of calibration to adjust.

If the value is increased when calibration, the distance between the two pass will close to. On the

contrary, the distance would be enlarged.

Pass Setting

This selection is for setting-up the pass quantity when the user is printing. It is optional from 1 pass to

6 pass.

In order to prevent from the clotting of the print-heads when printing, the user will set up Flash-jet to

ensure the print-head in fluent condition after printing is for a while. We will adjust the pass quantity

in Flash-jet. In order to adapt the different conditions, the user will set up work frequency in

flash-jet frequency

Print Speed Setting

The user will choose from 7 speed levels in speed selection. Every value stands for the speed of motormovement respectively.

4.3.1.3. Make RIP in JHF RIP Management System and output to printer

Note: That means to print the EPS, PS or PDF format file made by other software.

Chapter 5 Wanted Image File designing and processing

This printing system software only supplies printing process for chosen file, but not able to do image

edition and pretreatment. Meanwhile, the printing system software can only identify and print 180DPI, single

color 8- bitmap file. The user shall use third party software with powerful function to edit and pre-treat the image.

The users are recommended to use PHOTOSHOP 6.01 version software which is produced by ADOBE

Company to design the image for printer.This diagramer takes the PHOTOSHOP 6.01 as an example to explain to provide the image file for the

printing system software. As for the detailed usage of PHOTOSHOP, please refer to the special book for

Photoshop.

5.1 Design Image

The image designer uses suitable image editing software to design wanted and needed image, and save it as

the format which can be identified by Photoshop software.

5.2 Change the image as CMYK format.

The users adopt PHOTOSHOP to open the pre-saved image file, and transfer the showing image format

through the process of Image/Mode/ CMYK Color, and meanwhile change theimage as8 Bits/Channel

5.3 Setting Image Size

Note: the operation of this part should be finished by the image designer, so this manual wont introduce the

details. For further detailed information, please refer to the special book of PHOTOSHOP.

The practical size of the image file which is set up in the computer should be in accordance with the size of

printing image, so the practical size of the image file should be adjusted. Please refer to the following picture.

5.4 Merge Image Layers

The users may use more image layer when they design the image, and they need to use the order in picture to

merge the image layer. Refer to image.

this. To choose merge order to put together all image layers. If the users dont use more image layer, the order of

merge will show gray. The users can skip over this operational step, and go through to the next operational step.

5.5 Save the image file

The users can save the image file by orders of file/save after modifying the image file.

The users choose the file format as TIFF, BMP, EPS or JPEG in the dialog box of save, then the name of

the file can be modified.

Note: the file format must be saved as TIFF, because the saved image file have to set up type by MAINTOP

software, and then the image can be printer with the printing system software by the digital printer. However, the

MAINTOP software typeset software can only identify the image file of TIFF format.

Chapter 6 Daily maintenance and repair

JHF- Vista digital inkjet printer is a high-resolution, high-performance electronic production with

professional output of image which requires maintenance and repairs strictly in order to keep the system in

normal and stable order to insure output image with high resolution.

6.1 Operating environment request

Power supply: single-phase 220v 50Hz; Power on 24hrs/ day

Operating temperature: 20-28 Relative humidity: 40-60%

Note: the working environment will affect the ink and then affect the output of printer

6.2 Requirement for Operation and Maintenance

The task of the operation and maintenance need to be operated and maintained with professional person or the

person who has been trained by JHF Company and to be certified qualified. The user must do strictly according

to the manual guide.

1) Wear anti-static electricity gloves when touching electric cable, print head and electric appliance.

2) Strictly prohibit pull out or insert all kinds of plugs with electricity.

3) Strictly prohibit measure all kinds of electric parts of appliance with electricity.

4) When contacting the ink you should try to wear protect-eyepiece to avoid the ink entering the

eyes. If it is entering the eyes, you should wash with a plenty of clear water. And please go to see a doctor,

if necessary.

5) Shake the ink evenly twice every day.

6) Check distance switch and home position switch before turning on the printer every time.

The limit-switch is a protection switch for the print head. Please check it if these limit-switches work

before running the printer every time. In case, the limit-switched dont work well, which will affects the

output of printing, making output in misalignment. If so, please follow the following steps:

Please move the carriage from left to right after turn on the printer. When touching lightly the right

limit switch, the print head carriage stops, which means that the right limit-switch works well; if not,

please click the Stop button on tool bar under the printing software and stop the carriage, then check

the circuit and make the trouble-shooting.

Please move the carriage from right to left. When touching lightly the left limit switch, the print head

carriage stops, which means that the left limit-switch works well; if not, please click the Stop button

on tool bar under the printing software and stop the carriage, then check the circuit and make the

trouble-shooting.

Please move the carriage from right to left. When touching lightly the home position switch, the print

head carriage stops, which means that the home position-switch works well; if not, please click the

Stop button on tool bar under the printing software and stop the carriage, then check the circuit and

make the trouble-shooting.

7 Before printing and finishing printing, please clean the print head and make the print head in good

order.

Please use special cloth or paper with cleaning solution on it to wipe the print head when cleaning the print

head. It is suggested to do like this every day before printing, if necessary repeat this work between two

printing jobs, which will ensure the output in perfect position.

Print head is the heart of the printer, and the requirements for cleaning the print head are as follow:

Please wear gloves, glasses and protective cloth when cleaning the print head;

Please use the specially made cloth, which is provide by our factory or paper to clean; Please use special cleaning solution or cleaning solution recommended by us to clean the print head

and its surrounding;

Sucking come-and go the cleaning solution and remaining ink on the surface of the print head by thevacuum cleaner; Please dont scrape the surface of the print head by any hard chip when sucking;

Please repeat the above step for a few times if the print head is not cleaned well; Automatic cleaning print head is very important function. Please often clean the surface of the vacuum

terminal and its surrounding; Please clean the print head lightly in one direction when cleaning the print head;

Please suck the surface of the print head completely by vacuum cleaner when cleaning the print headby cleaning solution;

8) Follow strictly the order of printer turn-on and turn-off;

9) Please change the filter every two months;

Exhaust all inks in the ink tubes;

Disconnect the ink tube with two ends of ink filters and change new filter; Reconnect the ink tube and check if they are connected tightly and safely;

Make sure if the direction of the filter is in same direction as the direction of supplying ink

Note: The filter is a single direction appliance; when connecting, please make sure the flow of the

ink is in same direction as the filter.

10) Change the ink tube one time every year.

Exhaust all inks in the ink tube after turn off the printer and computer;

Clean new ink tubes one time by special cleaning solution to get rid of impurity inside the tube anddry the cleaning solution inside new ink tube completely;

11Cleaning the vacuum cleaner

The flexible tube with the vacuum cleaner will diminish after a long time, which will deduct air power from

the vacuum cleaner. In this case, changing a new flexible tube with the cleaner is necessary or clean the

flexible tube with a few of cleaning solution

6.3.1. Instruction for Parts of XJ128 print head

6.3.1.1. Actuator

Actuator that is not listed on the above picture is located behind of nozzle board. Actuator is made of

piezoelectric porcelain crystal and rows of printing ink tubes. Its function is to transform electric power into

mechanical press to jet ink drops.

6.3.1.2. Electrical connector

Electrical connector is used as an interface for print head connecting outside electric appliance and signal

interface.

6.3.1.3. Chassis

It is kind of installment base of mechanical part for the print head. The metal supports provide basic

position with the print head, which help to dispel heat and provide the print head with the heat.

6.3.1.4. Cover

It is kind of plastic cover, which protect the actuator, electrical connector, and filter. Any move or change

the cover will lose the guarantee from original factory.

6.3.1.5. Colored insulator

Colored insulator is used to help identify model of the print head, for example XJ128/200, XJ128/360 or

XJ128/200 Plus.

6.3.1.6. Driver chips

Driver chips (not stated on the picture) are responsible for saving and controlling information and send fire-

impulse- signal to driver directly

6.3.1.7. Ink inlet and filter

XJ128 print head has an ink inlet. It is the only inlet of the ink tube with the print head.

There is a stainless metal filter net of 15 um inside print head. This filter is not listed on the

above-mentioned picture. Filter is used as closing off deposit and protects the driver and nozzle of the print

head. It is the last assistant filter. For the details, please refer to the Chapter 7.

6.3.1.8. Nozzle plate

The performance of the nozzle plate is different with different model of XJ 128 print head. Both of them

have common construction. Please use different ink supply system and maintenance with different mode of

print head.

6.3.1.9. XJ128/200 & XJ128/360

The standard XJ128/200 and 128/360 printhead are non-wetting nozzle plate, which are spread a special

non-wetting coating with on it. Its function is to prevent ink from piling on the nozzle and its surrounding.

6.3.1.10. XJ128/200 plus

XJ128/200 plus printhead uses a kind of wetting nozzle plate. That is to say that thin ink cover shall remain

on the face of the nozzle continuously to ensure high quality of out put when printing.

6.3.1.11. Serial number

The serial number is listed on the back of the printhead as the above picture.

6.3.2. Print Heads Lifespan

Xaar print head jet at least 4000 million drops on the condition that you use certified ink by Xaar Company

and printing system. The lifespan and performance of the printheads are affected by the following factors:

Compatibility of ink and system

Maintenance of the print head

Layout of system and working environment

6.3.3. Deposit and Transportation for Print Head

6.3.3.1. Deposit environment

It is not allowed to deposit the print head outside the original package. It is recommended to use original

package till the print head wears out. The temperature of deposit is from -15C to 60Cwith the humidity

of 10%-90%, non- clotted. Please use a certain quantity of Xaar original cleaning solution to clean the

printhead when getting the printhead from the print head carriage, and then get the cleaning solution from

the printhead completely with a purged and filtered air. This process will be specified in details in following

context. Please cover the plastic cover on the face of the nozzle at once after finishing cleaning. Please use

anti-static and opacity plastic bag to deposit hold the print head if no original bag available.

6.3.3.2. Transportation Condition

Xaar print head along with original uncovered package can fit following transportation condition:

Shake X,Y and Z axes 5-20Hz, -3dB/oct, 0.78gRMS, 30 minutes

Strike X, Y Z axes,18g, 6 ms, semi-spring, 100 strikes

6.3.4. Protecting measure for the print head

6.3.4.1. Cover of nozzle

The print head is covered with plastic cover during the transportation. Please take off the cover carefully

when using the print head.

6.3.4.2. Maintenance of nozzle plate

It is very important step for the print head. There are two models with non-wedding coating with the

nozzle plate, which is used to prevent from piling extract ink on the nozzle plate. Please avoid doing any

harm to this face, and any harm will destroy of quality of output of printing. Please keep away all external

press away to prevent from inlet, ink channel and cable with the print head destroying

6.3.4.3. Anti-static Measure

Print head is a very sensitive chip. Any static electricity will do a big harm to the print head. Please uncover

and deal with this product in an anti-static bag. Please follow the right process and step when you dealing

with the printhead, for example, wearing anti-static wrist chaplet and inductive electricity working pad.

6.3.4.4. Plug and Pull out Printhead Prohibited

It is strictly prohibited to install or get off the printhead with the power on, which will destroy the printhead

heavily.

6.3.4.5. Protection for the Printhead Electric Inlet

Electric inlet socket is a 30-pin-socket connector. Please dont plug in wrong position. The AMP socket is a

welding chip. Please try to decline the power as possible as your can, when you plug the printhead. Please

use the flexible signal cable when you connect the printhead with the electric driver. Be sure not make the

printhead socket -pin bend.

6.3.4.6. The Order of Turn-on and Turn-off Power for the Printhead

Wrong order of Turn-on and Turn-off power for the print head will conclusively burn IC inside the

printhead. Please keep enough time to let the capacitances inside the print head charge power and releasepower, which is very strict process. It is strictly not allowed to turn on or turn off the power for the

printhead when mounting or moving off the printhead from its carriage.

6.3.4.7. Using Suitable Ink with The Printhead

It is very important to use Xaar- Company -certified ink with the printhead. In order to keep quality

performance of the ink, please strictly follow to relative regulations for deposit and transportation of ink.

Please keep in mind that you never use the ink out of expiration, which will affect performance of printhead

or destroy the printhead.

6.3.4.8. Compatibility for Material of Ink-supply System

It is very important factor if that material of ink-supply system is compatible with ink, which will affect the

lifespan and high performance of printhead. Every spare part which is wetted by ink will react chemically

and release new chemical stuff, which will affect the performance of the printhead.

Different factory uses same material may make their products with completely different compatibility.

6.3.4.9. Ink Filtrating

There is a filtrating -net inside the printhead, which prevent from thin dust into the printhead, which may

lead printhead clog. If this filtrate-net is clogged in some way, which will increase the ink pressure ratio and

then decline print head performance. This filtrating-net is non-changeable and non- cleanable. In order to

keep the performance and lift span of printhead, it is required to filtrate the ink before the ink arrive the

printhead. The ink filter with the printer is one that is 5um changeable filter. It is recommended that you

change the ink filter after a certain period of time.

6.3.4.10. Purging Ink-Supply System.

It is suggested that to clean and dry all spare parts which contact ink before the ink goes through the

ink-supply system.

6.3.4.11. Cleaning of New Printhead

Xaar Print head takes a serial of testing before leaving for user, which may cause to keep some testing

liquid inside the printhead. All remain liquid inside the printhead may not compatible with users ink,

which asks a uniform cleaning process. That is to say to use certified cleaning solution in right way to clean

new print head. It is strongly suggested that you use Xaar original cleaning solution to clean printhead first,

and then use compatible cleaning solution to clean the printhead again.

6.3.4.12. Process of First Jetting Ink for New Printhead

First process of feeding ink is a very important, which affect the performance and stability of the printhead.

Please try best to exhaust all air out of printhead and ink-supply system. Feeding ink at first time

successfully or not is due to following factors, which include position of put printhead and flow speed of

feeding ink.

It is very common way to put the printhead in spraying down way. It is very difficult put way. You

shall use 0.5 and 1.5 pa pressure to feed ink, using different pressure to spray 5 seconds and repeating

it for 5 times is better

The best way to feed ink is to let inlet down. Side spraying vertically installation is to use less than

0.5 pa press feed ink into the printhead slowly. The ink will flow from the inlet during feeding ink.

Please feed ink about 5 or 6 second and dont stop feeding until the inks flowing from the inlet will

not burble

It is also recommended that you should adopt vacuum -cleaning and pressure feeding way to feedprinthead. Every way takes 5 seconds and repeating 10 times is better.

Please let fed-full-ink print head have a rest for 30 minutes, which will prevent from tinny air bubble

piling on the filter inside the printhead.

6.3.4.13. First Using Print head

Please follow to the following maintenance to protect the printhead beginning at the first time of using

printhead

Please note that you use a few ink spray and clean the printhead for XJ128 printhad is non wetting

coating type of printhead. This function of this kind of non wetting coating is to wipe off the ink on

the nozzle plat and it start printing when the nozzle plate is dry.

XJ 128/200 plus printhead need a certain quantity of ink cleaning and wiping complete nozzle plate,

which will help to put a thin layer of ink on the nozzle plate. Uniform and thin layer of ink on the

nozzle plate is very important and necessary for operation and high performance of printhead.

Wetting coating nozzle plate needs a period of protection, which will make the nozzle plate create a

union player of ink film before using the printhead.

XJ128 printhead is ready for use after going through suitable ink feed- and- clean process.

6.3.5. Maintenance, Stability and Life Span of Printhead

Maintenance of printhead of XJ 128 is the heat of its performance and stability.

The way of maintenance for XJ128/200 plus is different from the way for XJ128/200 and XJ128/360.

xBecause XJ128 plus print head uses a wetting coating nozzle plate, which asks the print head to maintain a

thin layer of ink film on nozzle plate. Only in this way, the print head can run at an appointed working

frequency for a long time. Its different factor asks the nozzle plate not dry, which brings about high

performance of print head.
