no 1.0 | no 2.0I wanted to work with emotions or something

like this, so I chose the opposites as my theme.

I think we can concurrently feel both opposites.

So first I chose some which I want to focus on.

loud - whisper

keep - let go

enchain - liberate

I made a research how imagine this opposite

in glass. During the process all changed and i

think it is not just contrary. Both of parts have had

more reaction, like if you get a new impression

from around of the world. But in my mind those

infulenses had a different way inside.

I would like to somehow represents this.

multiple personality disorder

Erasmus, BA III

Who is my monsters? I imagined them for little

creatures with difference personalities, who are

the outcasts of society. Billy Milligan s life inspi-

rated me mostly, who had multiple personality

disorder. The psychologists asked him, what is

happening when the personalities change each

other. He said that, the personalities are waiting

around a big shiny spot in a room and the leader

personality decides that, who can go to the spot

and get touch with the world.

I wanted to show the aspects of personality, that

we can never know what is really happening in-

side.

unbalanced

Erasmus, BA III

Interactions between people are deeply influ-

enced by the opinion one has about the others;

judging the behaviour, even the appearance of

other individuals, is the way we decide who to

keep close to us, and who to stay away from. Still,

judging really often turns out to be rather tricky

and we often find ourselves radically changing

the ideas we had about someone.

Eventually understanding, through the years, the

unbalanced nature of our perception.

memory

MA I

We collect memories only to forget them. The funny thing with it is that we remember the for-gotten moment as soon as we feel the smell, taste or hear the cracking sound it.

"I can bring tears to your eyes, resurrect the dead, make you smile and reverse time. I form in an instant, but last a lifetime."

lucky spider I

MA II

I have had two symbols in my mind for a long

time - a rainbow and a spider. Rainbow means to

me a lot of good feelings like happiness, beauty,

breadth, colourful, joy, light and freedom. Every

time I see a rainbow

I stop to admire and smile.

“Lucky spider” as we call them in Estonia, are the

spiders with limber and long legs. I like them a

lot, especially I like watching how they move, how

graceful they are. Their movement is so fascinat-

ing. In my

artwork I put these two things together,

colours and gracefulness.

lucky spider IIMA II

All about this work is movement. As I described before, lucky spiders with long legs are fascinating. Those creatures are my inspirations for this work. They live in shad-ows, we don’t see them often. Movement is a key that makes them visible. In this artwork I was trying to depict spider legs that are thin as hair.Hot glass drawing technique was supporting my choice. The time you can use hot glass for drawing is really short. One must be gentle and quick, just as a spider.

The exhibition started as a study project called

“Influences” that took place under the guidance

of Eeva Käsper this autumn semester.

Five students have been contemplating about

what influences and affects us: who are we, what

we carry inside, what are our experiences and

how we express ourselves? Artists have tried to

make keywords like movement, memory, silence,

space and reflection visible in glass through phil-

osophical discussions and analysis. Participating

artists from Estonia (Piret Meos, Maria Tamm),

Hungary (Barbara Szoke, Borbála Simon) and Slo-

venia (Kaja Upelj) are very different in their mind

and handwriting. Different glass techniques are

used: glass blowing, kiln casting, cold glass work-

ing, modelling, hot glass drawing etc.

You all are invited to see and investigate.
