At the Soldiers Home, you’ll have the opportunity to participate in daily activities posted on our activities calendars, and weekly events such as bingo and shopping trips. We also have a fishing pond, library and hobby shop. Each season brings a new reason to celebrate, and at the Soldiers Home you’ll have the opportunity to participate not only in traditional holiday parties, but also in Veterans Observances throughout the year. INTRODUCTIONWelcome to the Washington Soldiers Home. We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to serve our veterans who have made our freedoms possible and hope this information will give you a sense of our passion for serving veterans and their families.

ELIGIBILITYTo be eligible for admission, veterans must meet the following criteria:• Served in the United States Armed

Forces, including National Guard;• Received an honorable discharge;• Reside in Washington State;• Be the spouse of a resident or widow of

an eligible veteran;• or be a Gold Star Parent.

Enriching our Veteran’s lives every day!MEDICAL SERVICESOur professional medical staff provide most of the medical services for our residents.Primary CareYour primary care is provided by staff physicians and nurse practitioners. Services include:w Routine visits every 60 daysw Sick callw Referrals for specialty carew Medications from the WDVA Pharmacyw Blood draws and x-rays

TransportationThe Washington Soldiers Home provides a shuttle to and from appointments outside our facility. Insurance Medicare and MedicaidFor veterans needing care following a qualifying hospital stay, the we offer Medicare rehabilitative care. Our admissions team works closely with hospital discharge planners to quickly process applications. We also accept Medicaid and allow qualified veterans to receive a higher Personal Needs Allowance than what is allowed in other nursing facilities. Third Party Insurance and Private PayOur financial office will be glad to discuss coverage provided through your individual health insurance plan, or discuss the daily rate for private pay residents.

SERVICES AND AMENITIES Services such as laundry and cable TV are

provided to all residents. Each room is furnished with a bed, dresser, armoire and chair; however, residents are welcome to bring personal belongings, such as a favorite chair, if they would like.
