Scenes from the Collection Ongoing Divided into several sections, or “scenes,” this dynamic installation explores ways in which art and objects are shaped by context and perspective, with each item touching upon a facet of the broader Jewish experience. Now on view through October 2020, George Segal’s Abraham and Isaac showcases the artist’s plaster casting of the life-sized sculpture commissioned as a memorial to the 1970 tragedy at Kent State University in Ohio. Also on view, Masterpieces and Curiosities: The Benguiat Collection tells the story of how the Museum acquired one of its earliest collections of striking ceremonial objects.

Edith Halpert and the Rise of American Art October 18, 2019 — February 9, 2020 A pioneer in the art world and the first significant female gallerist in the United States, Edith Halpert used her influence, eye, and passion for art to inspire generations of Americans to value to the art of their own country at a time when the European avant-garde still enthralled the world. Featured in this fascinating exhibition are works by artists including Georgia O’Keeffe, Stuart Davis, Yasuo Kuniyoshi, Jacob Lawrence, Ben Shahn, Horace Pippin, and Charles Sheeler.

Rachel Feinstein: Maiden, Mother, Crone November 1, 2019 — March 22, 2020 Rachel Feinstein‘s interdisciplinary practice is defined by dualities: between masculinity and femininity or good and evil, balance and precariousness or positive and negative space. This exhibition brings together three decades of the New York-based artist’s work in sculpture, painting, and video as well as a major new commission.

Art Studio Ongoing The Art Studio is the location for art-making experiences including family drop-in activites, adult art classes, and school programs.

Kids Gallery Guides are available at the admissions desk and on Floor 4. These printed guides are designed for families to use together while enjoying the art on view.
