Quovadis… My Dear Parishioners: Today we celebrate the Second Sunday of Easter and the Eighth Day of the Easter Octave. More recently, this Sunday has come to be known as Divine Mercy Sunday for those who have a devotion to Saint Faustina and the revelation of Jesus made known to her. The remarkable thing about belief is that it always has room for unbelief. Like mystery itself, belief is not something we have and that’s it. There is always room to grow in our belief just as there’s always room for our unbelief. We call Thomas “doubting Thomas” and so he was. Truth be told, so are all of us. There come times in our lives when we are simply overcome by emptiness and absence---perhaps the death of a loved one, the painful illness of a small child, or loss of a job. At these times, doubt or unbelief are natural. This does not mean we have lost our faith, it means that doubt or unbelief can be metaphors for dying. Like Thomas, when we come to profound belief we know as rising. What moves us from unbelief to belief? Also like Thomas, our encounter with the Risen Christ. In our times of doubt or unbelief we need to keep our eyes focused on the Risen One and, in due time, we know the Lord is with us inviting us to belief. Many thanks to all those scores and scores who helped to prepare our worship for the Triduum and Solemnity of Easter. Preparing our parish facilities and our community is not an easy responsibility. Those who helped with the clean up; those who helped with arranging flowers and plants; those who helped with set up and cleaning; those who prepared the sacristy and the sacred vessels/vestments; those who served
in various liturgical and support roles; those who shared their sewing talent…the quiet stewardship of many enable us to offer our very best. We had encouraging attendance throughout the Triduum. It was edifying to see so many people gathering for worship each day. Our participation continues to grow each year. What a wonderfully prayerful experience for us on Holy Thursday and the Easter Vigil as we celebrated the Liturgy. The Good Friday Service and the Way of the Cross call us back as we reflect on Christ’s suffering for our salvation. We will evaluate our scheduling and make adjustments accordingly for the coming year. Many thanks go out to all those who shared their delicious baked goods with me here at the Parish House. All of the traditional Easter Foods were excellent. Thank you for keeping the customs of your forbearers and sharing them. Your stewardship enables our parish to continue to grow as well as making great things happen in our midst. If you have not made your gift to the Church for the Solemnity of Easter, please do so as soon as possible. We will render an accounting to you in the coming weeks. Many thanks to all those who have so very generously participated in the 2018 Annual Catholic Appeal. If you have not made your pledge/gift, please do so as soon as possible. On a personal note, I am grateful to all those who have graciously remembered my birthday as well as those who have sent gracious remembrances for the Solemnity of Easter to me personally. Have a great week. Let us remember one another in prayer. Happy Sunday. Peace. Father Jeff

Clergy and Religious Administration - Consecrated Life
In the Diocese of Trenton, those in consecrated life represent membership in a variety of male and female religious institutes. These men and women have dedicated their lives to proclaim the Word of the God and serve His people. Currently we have 51 Brothers, 37 priests and 230 women-religious ministering in the diocese. While not easily recognizable, nevertheless, they witness the face of God as they celebrate our liturgies and carry out the spiritual and corporal works of mercy in fields of education, health care and social services throughout the diocese. Your gift promotes those called to serve.
We are grateful to those who forwarded
their dona ons while on vaca on.
The EASTER Collection will be announced shortly.
If you have not made your gift, please do so as soon as possible.

Martha Mary Mee ng
Wednesday, April 11
It’s Almost “Garden Time”!
Remember the old saying “April showers bring May flowers”? Some of the Spring flowers are already being welcomed into our area and many of us are looking forward to ge ng out there to do some gardening. In an cipa on of this, the Martha Mary Guild has invited two Monmouth County Master Gardeners to be the highlight of our April mee ng. Ellen Simone and Robert Mellert are both very experienced in this field. Ellen has been a Master Gardener since 2008 and has served as president of the Monmouth County Gardener Associa on and the State Board of Master Gardeners. Robert joined the Master Gardeners in 2001 and has served as chair of many of their commi ees, including the group that ini ated the formal herb garden, called “The Herbary”, behind the AG Building on Kozloski Road in Freehold.
They both work at several community gardens in Western Monmouth County, including the newly expanded Marlboro Community Garden, where Ellen is the volunteer manager. At this
mee ng, their focus will be on different types of herbs – how they are used and how they are grown. They will offer guidance on using containers and/or plan ng directly in the ground.
All are invited to join us on Wednesday, April 11 at 11:30 a.m. to pray the rosary in the Spiritual Center Chapel. At noon, there will be a BYOL (Bring Your Own Lunch), with refreshments provided by the Guild in Madonna Hall.
Ellen and Robert will begin “sparking our gardening enthusiasm” at 12:30 p.m.
