LINCOLN

Humble-but-happening Lincoln is home to one of Englands most unique historic quarters. The Romans knew it as Lindum Colonia. In their time, the city was one of four regional capitals in Britain. Drive to the city today and you could find yourself driving under what is reputedly the UKs oldest Roman arch still open to traffic. Youll also find a thriving university town with a sense of history that radiates from the very pavement beneath your feet.

Quite rightly, Lincolns historic architecture seems like the mandatory first port of call of any trip to the city. To reach them, take a not-so-light stroll up aptly-named Steep Hill. Bear with it! The 15-minute walk is a chance to absorb the true age of the ancient city, and will take you to the Cathedral Quarter, a passage flanked by Lincolns famous castle and cathedral. For those tempted by more leisurely sightseeing, take in the city highlights with Tour Lincolns open-top bus tours you can board as many times as you like from the tours 12 different stops.

WINDSOR
Windsor Castle is the worlds largest occupied castle and bursting with almost a thousand years of turbulent history. Every monarch from Henry II to Queen Elizabeth II has been carrying out home improvements making the interior as impressive as it's past. Head to St George's Chapel in the Castle where Henry VIII is buried next to his wife Jane Seymour (The queen, not the actress.) Across the river, youll find Eton College, founded by King Henry VI in 1440.

Arts and Culture
For West End shows without the sting of London prices head to Theatre Royal , an intimate space where classic and contemporary productions never fail to delight audiences. Film buffs should keep an eye out for the independent films showing at The Firestation as well as the latest talent delivering live comedy and music.

Must See Attractions
A visit to the Castle is essential, but be sure to coincide your visit with the impressive Changing of the Guard ceremony. In the summer, ride the Royal Windsor Wheel to get the best views over Windsors sights and the Thames Valley. Take a stroll through the mighty Windsor Great Park where the Queen likes to stretch her legs and Saxon kings used to hunt. And budding gardeners and those with green thumbs should not miss the Savill
