ridgetown and its Garrison is a UNESCO World Heritage Property with

unique characteristics. Bridgetown was one of the two largest and most

influential British port cities in the Americas. Today you may enjoy visits to

the oldest synagogue in the hemisphere, the third oldest parliament in the

British Commonwealth, the home where America’s founding father, George

Washington, stayed in 1751 at the impressionable age of 19, a well

preserved Garrison that was the largest British military facility in the

Caribbean and 11 state of the art museum attractions. Barbados was one

of the first economies to utilize slave labour for the production of sugar and

rum around 1640 and today there is a rich fusion of African and European

heritage. Excellent quality sugar and rum are still produced across the island

and there are many beautiful plantation houses and stunning ancient

Escape From The EverydayIn 1922, the Red Book of the West Indies reported “The Crane Hotel occupies a high cliff on the Southeast of the Island sweptby fresh, invigorating breezes.
