Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Moon and the stars; in the heavens You have made them bright, precious and beautiful. Be praised, my Lord, through Brothers Wind and Air, and clouds and storms, and all the weather, through which You give Your creatures sustenance. Be praised, my Lord, through Sister Water; she is very useful, and humble, and precious, and pure. Be praised, my Lord, through Brother Fire, through whom You brighten the night. He is beautiful and cheerful, and powerful and strong. Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Mother Earth, who feeds us and rules us, and produces various fruits with colored flowers and herbs. Be praised, my Lord, through those who forgive for love of You; through those who endure sickness and trial. Happy those who endure in peace, for by You, Most High, they will be crowned. Be praised, my Lord, through our sister Bodily Death, from whose embrace no living person can escape. Woe to those who die in mortal sin! Happy those she finds doing Your most holy will. The second death can do no harm to them. Praise and bless my Lord, and give thanks, and serve Him with great humility.

Everything is Connected Sitting here on the beach watching the waves, feeding the seagulls, thinking about all the rain back home last night, I am struck again by how everything is connected. A couple of weeks ago Pope Francis reminded not just Catholics but all of us who share a common home, that this earth is like a sister with whom we share our life and a beautiful mother who opens her arms to embrace us.

God made the earth and all things by the goodness of his word. Adam was made out of the earth, Eve out of Adam. We are all one with one another, with the creation and with God.

All the creation lives to praise God by being the fullness of all he made it to be. We bring glory to God by being all he

has created us to be - loving him, loving one another, loving and caring for all the earth. In this last month of summer, let us join our voices with all the creation in glorifying him with our words and serving him by caring for the earth and everyone and everything who share it with us.

Canticle of the Sun (St. Francis)

Most high, all powerful, all good Lord! All praise is Yours, all glory, all honor, and all blessing. To You, alone, Most High, do they belong. No mortal lips are worthy to pronounce Your name. Be praised, my Lord, through all Your creatures, especially through my lord Brother Sun, who brings the day; and You give light through him. And he is beautiful and radiant in all his splendor! Of You, Most High, he bears the likeness. PERSONAL TRANSFORMATION 5

New Director of Childcare It is with great pleasure that we announce the hire of Mrs. Kelli Halle as our new Director of Childcare at Trinity Family

Center. Mrs. Halle comes to us with over 11 years of experience in the field of Childcare; 7 years as a Director and Assistant Director in the St. Paul area and 4 years as a teacher at Trinity Childcare downtown. She is a graduate of

University Wisconsin Stout and will be pursuing her Master’s degree at University of St. Catherine’s.

Kelli is passionate about providing excellent childcare for children and their families. She comes very highly recommended. We feel blessed to have Kelli join our team and we know that you will feel the same when meeting her. Kelli began at

Trinity Family Center the end of July.

Kelli shared the following information with staff and childcare families this past summer:

“I cannot express how blessed I feel to be the new Director of Childcare at the Family Center! I have spent my professional life working in the field of early childhood (both teaching and directing). I believe that early childhood

education and strong faith build a child’s foundation for success - How lucky I am to be able to assist in a child’s development of both at Trinity. Trinity has always held a special place in my heart; it is where my love for my profession

began – where I became passionate about the importance, fun, and excitement that comes with early childhood education.

I am honored to once again be a part of the Trinity family. I feel as though things are coming full circle and I am right where God has called on me to be.

I was born and raised in Star Prairie and my family and I currently reside just outside of New

Richmond. My husband, Aaron, is a sonographer at Westfields Hospital and recently graduated with his MBA from St. Thomas. I have three children; Brady (7), Emma (6) and Noah (3). As a family,

we enjoy traveling, camping, boating, fishing and going to our cabin. We spend as much time outdoors as possible. In my free time, I enjoy a good book or movie, spending time with friends and

family, and taking our rescue dog, Bindi for walks… however she is a mastiff and often times I

believe she is walking me and not the other way around!

To my new staff, I am anxious to get to work alongside of you, learn from you, help you succeed

and build upon your amazing talents!

To the families, thank you for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of your lives and your children’s. I look forward to watching your children grow in both their education and their faith in the Lord. Thank you for entrusting me to be a part of

the Trinity family.

My goal is to continue the wonderful program that has been established and only build on its strengths. I look forward to meeting all of you and spending time getting to know you. I couldn’t be more excited about the future we have together!

Survey Says…. In June, our church gave feedback about our worship environments and the

joy of worshipping God together. Here are some of the wonderful quotes from those surveys:

"My week is complete after I’ve worshipped with my brothers and sisters.”

“I’ve enjoyed the series’ that we go through. They help me in my spiritual

walk.”

“From the choirs and bell choirs at Downtown to the worship teams at the Family Center, I think we honor God with excellence.”

“The service I go to feels like family but is also welcoming to visitors.”

Thanks for the feedback!

INSPIRATIONAL WORSHIP 6

New Addition! Have questions about

faith, life, or our church? Send them in to Lisa at

[email protected]

and your question will be answered by one of the

pastors, and may be featured in an upcoming newsletter edition! You may

choose to remain anonymous.

As a Christian - should I fear God?

In the Bible, the word “fear” means to have a healthy respect and awe for someone — specifically God. So on one side of our relationship with him, we are careful to walk humbly with him and to take him seriously. God is also a loving God who sees us as his children. Because Jesus died for us, those who claim him as savior need to fear the wrath of God. God’s arms are open to all people and he disciplines us when we sin, just as a loving father would do. God is to be loved because he loved us first. God is to be honored because he is powerful. God is to be respected because of his grace shown to us in Jesus.

Vacation Bible School is Almost Here! It’s not too late to attend VBS - which is right around

the corner. We kick things off with dinner at 5:30 pm on Monday, August 3rd at the Family Center. It’s four

nights of family fun and foundational faith formation!

We hope you make it a priority of your summer ~ come the nights you can!

The theme is Everest...mountain climbing...and learning

how to conquer challenges with God's mighty power! Register online at Welcome / Welcome / Trinity

Lutheran Church TODAY!

We are doing a couple of new things this year...putting children in multi-age groups and rotating

from station to station during the night. We will still serve dinner each night at 5:30 pm and have our

opening large group time all together with great music

and teaching. We will also have our closing family time with games and crafts. Please contact Patti Kelly at

[email protected] with any questions or to volunteer!

Celebrating 60 Years of Service

On Sunday, August 23, we celebrate God’s work through

Pastor Fred Golke. At our downtown campus, we will have

one service at 10:00 a.m. followed by a celebration

brunch in the gym. Come and

thank the Lord for Fred and Mary’s dedication to the Lord.

Family Center services will be as normal on that day but all are invited to the brunch.

Summer at Trinity During the weeks in August, our weekly series will

consist of different topics that are designed to encourage, inspire and motivate us to celebrate God!

7 FOUNDATIONAL FAITH New Xtreme Kids Director I want to take this opportunity to

introduce you to Kristin Miller. She will be taking over the Xtreme Kids director role

beginning August 1. She is excited and

full of enthusiasm for this ministry. Trinity is blessed to have her taking over for our

kids!

Here's a little background on Kristin and her family:

Kristin & Scott have lived in Hudson for the past eight years

and, like many others at Trinity, found themselves looking for

childcare for their younger two children. It was through Trinity's preschool program they became familiar with this

church and started attending Sunday services at the Family Center. This past January, Scott, Kristin, and the boys joined

Trinity as members and have been very excited to become

more involved. Braeden (13) is entering his eighth grade year at Hudson Middle school. Emmitt (8) & Cohen (7) are both

attending Trinity Academy Downtown. Growing up with a Youth Pastor for a father, Kristin has always seen herself

contributing to her church in a similar capacity. She has a bachelor’s degree from Augsburg College in Elementary

Education with a minor in Middle School Science and is looking

forward to using these gifts to serve for His glory. Please join me in welcoming Kristin!

Blessings,

Patti Kelly

The Cross is Back in Session September 16th! A lot of parents wonder: What does a typical Wednesday evening look like at The Cross? And I answer…Worship, prayer,

Bible-focused lessons, and incredible mentoring! Wednesday evening schedule:

5:30 students begin to arrive thru Trinity Academy front doors (gym, game room, snacks, hanging out, Christian music videos)

5:55 students and small group leaders meet in youth worship space 6:00 worship begins: songs, group prayer, testimony 6:15 small group presentation of devotion 6:25 large group message: Biblical guidance, concluding in prayer 6:55 go to assigned small group area: mentoring by caring, Christ following adults 7:40 clean up & group prayer 7:45 students dismissed to play games in youth room or go home 8:00 parents pick up students thru Trinity Academy front doors

Last year, during teaching Wednesdays in small groups, our students went through John’s gospel from beginning to end! Encouraged by their mentor to read their Bibles daily, they discussed details and meaning found in the chapter each week.

This year, our goal is to learn about the life and ministry of Jesus through the gospel according to Luke.

The last Wednesday of each month is Fun Fellowship Time!! It’s the youth’s opportunity to get a little crazy with their brothers and sisters in Christ. Students always have a blast at these events. They invite kids from other youth groups, fam-

ily members, and friends who may not normally attend church.

A parent and volunteer informational meeting will be held in the youth room September 2nd at 6:00 pm. We’ll see you there! If you have questions, or feel the call to be involved, feel free to contact Jack Jorgensen (651) 592-8961.

Back to School Trinity Academy will be holding enrollment/picture

day as follows: Preschool: August 19th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm

Academy K-8: August 20th from 2:00 - 6:00 pm

New students welcome!

EVERY LITTLE STITCH HELPS! Are you looking for a quick and

easy sewing project that will make a big impact? The Trinity Quilters

have assembled sewing kits that

will directly benefit children. There are kits for "Little Dresses" at each

Trinity campus. There are also kits for crib sheets at the Family Center

that will be used for the infants in

our Day Care Program. At the Downtown Campus there are also kits for "Comfort

Quilts" that are donated to children at Grace Place and Turning Point. Please feel free to take a kit

with you to make at home.

RELATIONAL CONNECTION 8

Staff Person of the Month Each month in the Trinity newsletter we highlight a staff member. This is a great way for the

congregation to get to know us a little better. This month we are highlighting staff member Heather Mitchell.

1) Give a brief description of your position at Trinity.

I'll be teaching art: art history, art appreciation and techniques to students so they may create their own masterpieces! I can't wait to see their work.

2) What did you do before coming to Trinity?

First and foremost, I'm a wife, mom, and church planter! Before Trinity, I moved from California in

2011 to help friends plant a church and I also taught third graders in Fresno, CA.

3) What are the joys of your position/job?

Every day working with young minds is a joy to me. I find children to be very fun and witty! I'm particularly excited about helping them with their creative side in art class. Student smiles are like fireworks, they light up the classroom.

4) What positives do you see about the total Trinity Ministry? The positives about being a part of Trinity ministry is like-mindness as in Act 4:32, everyone who believed were of one

heart and soul to help and share the gospel to those in need. 5) How do you see God working here at Trinity?

God works in ways that can be beyond our understanding, yet, He always works for the good. I imagine God will be

working in all of our hearts to be bold and courageous for His glory! To give encouragement to each other as we walk through the purpose God has placed before us.

Advent by Candlelight Advent by Candlelight is a special women’s event which Trinity hosts

on the first Sunday of Advent. It is an evening of reflection into God’s Word through readings, music, and fellowship, as we prepare our

hearts to enter into the Advent season. This year’s event will be held

on Sunday, November 29th in the Trinity Academy gym at 6:30 pm.

We typically have 20 – 25 tables of eight women at each table.

Women are invited to host a table (alone or with a friend) or come as

the guest of a hostess. The hostess is encouraged to invite the special women in their lives – mother, daughter, sister, friends, co-workers or

even someone new to our church or the community. In addition, the hostesses decorate their own table with a holiday theme. Specific

guidelines and sign-ups will happen in October.

Please note: You do not have to be invited to attend the event. All women are welcome!

In year’s past, the hostesses have supplied the food for their table. This year, we will try something new by having both a dessert buffet and an appetizer buffet. All women are invited to bring a food item to share. Prior to the

program, there is a time for fellowship and food.

The program includes readings from God’s Word and other writings tied to the theme for the event. In addition, we are blessed to have several musical numbers by groups such as our own Trinity Bell Choir, Senior Choir, Worship

Teams and by various individuals, young and old alike.

If you have questions or are interested in helping with Advent by Candlelight by serving on the committee, sharing your musical talents, or just want to help in some way, please contact Roxanne Johnson 715-386-0121 or e-mail

[email protected], or Anne Ross 715-386-4186 or e-mail [email protected].

MISSIONAL MOMENTUM 9

From the Stewardship Committee At the June congregational meeting, we were introduced to several ideas that may be in Trinity’s future: changing the

Academy to include high school grades; upgrading and improving the downtown sanctuary; and expanding the sanctuary at the Family Center. Please be praying about where God would lead us as a body in these specific areas. They are

visionary ideas at this point, based on what God has been laying on the hearts of our leadership team as they envision

our ministry moving forward.

Things like this will test our stewardship principles as we pray and make decisions about where God wants us to use the

resources he gives us. There is so much need and only so many resources. But we also know that our God provides

abundantly to each family and to his Body in Christ. When we set our sights on Him, and His work, He will provide what is needed to accomplish that work.

Thank you to all who support the mission and ministry of Trinity financially. Thank you for those who have completed

their pledges for the “Imagine” campaign that has expanded the Academy ministry. Please continue to give generously and selflessly, as Jesus did for us. The Stewardship Committee is looking for anyone who has an interest in the financial

piece of our ministry to serve with us. Please contact us if you are interested. Maf Berg, Rick Hansen, Steve Hamill, Denny Hartung

A Summer of Opportunity Sun and fun! As we look forward

to our summer with family and friends we want every moment to

count! As God blesses us with

warm temperatures, I challenge you, as the Deacon of Impact Missions, to make the most of opportunities to serve God and Trinity.

I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make the Goliath

Challenge an amazing success. Best of all, the final results of that event will have a tremendous IMPACT on the lives of needy children

around the world.

We must remember the love God has for individuals in the whole world. Pray for our mission ministries throughout the year. If God leads you

to opportunities to serve in our church and/or community, DO IT! Upon reflection, may you look back at the summer of 2015 as a time

when you acted upon and were involved in activities that blessed

others and gave God glory!

May God bless you!

September is Trinity Food Shelf Month Trinity provides volunteer hosts for the food shelf each year during the month of

SEPTEMBER. Contact Geri Manlove (715-386-9746) to volunteer for a morning or two. We provide cook books to help the clients prepare healthy meals. With your

help, we will be able to provide “Birthday Party Kits” for children. Then as the year

goes on, consider donating a “Birthday Party Kit” each time a birthday is celebrated in your family. Here's what you can do:

1. Go shopping and purchase the supplies for a Birthday Party Kit: 1 cake mix, 1 can of frosting, a package of candles, a small package of balloons, small paper plates, and napkins.

2. Thank you for returning the designated items in a plastic bag to the bin located in the gathering area

of each Trinity site on or before September 1.

HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS Now is the time to be thinking about

getting ready for your senior year of high school. Be on the lookout for a

letter from the Trinity Quilters who

would love to make a memory quilt to celebrate your graduation. The letter

will include a return postcard to help us create something special for you.

If for some reason you do not receive

the letter by September 1st, 2015, please call Nancy Gavin at 715-386-

3513. Thank you - we look forward to hearing from you.

GLOBAL COMPASSION 10

Goliath Challenge ~ Another Successful Victory! On May 30th, 1300 runners tackled the treacherous hills and obstacles on the 4th annual Goliath

Challenge Run! Exceeding expectations, the Trinity event — led by Mark and Kim Kretschmer — raised a record $45,000 for Feed My Starving Children, and $1,100 for the Hudson Food Shelf, with

nearly 600 items donated for charity! Check out all the fun pictures from the event on our facebook

page, and some highlighted pictures on page two of this newsletter.

A special thank you goes out to the Goliath Committee – Tracy Hartwick, Terri Marquardt, Rob

Darragh, Carrie St. Ores, Anne Ross, and Victoria Bibeau (FMSC). Also, a big thank you to the 170+

volunteers, including the Obstacle Construction Team, for all the hours spent on construction and setup.

Watch for more information about our first ever Hudson Goliath Mobile Pack, coming in October! Way to defeat hunger!

Feed My Starving Children On October 2nd & 3rd, we will be doing a Mobile Pack for FMSC at the Hudson YMCA thanks to

Goliath Challenge. Because of this, we will be cancelling the September (9/22) and October

(10/27) trips to Feed My Starving Children.

Please join us on the fourth Tuesday of every month to go pack food for FMSC. The bus/van

will be leaving at 5:15 pm from Downtown and will be returning by 8:30 pm. Please sign up on

the signup sheets at each site. It is very important that you sign up ahead of time so we have an idea as to what we need for transportation.

For more information, check the boards at both sites or you can contact Rick or Cindy Nelsen at

715-381-1128, or [email protected]. Thank you, Rick & Cindy Nelsen
