S.O.P. -- Save Our Planet!and a major trading asset. While the weapons are there they will be used.

Small wars beget large wars as more countries become involved. Large nations fight by proxy through their allies and so prolong unimportant quarrels into war. This major danger must be abandoned by all nations. It threatens the very existence of men on Earth. Apart from war, nothing so profoundly affects the future of all men as much as

pollution. Some countries have recognised this fact and have taken some steps to limit pollution and global warming. Others, sometimes the chief polluters, deny the reality of global warming despite the overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Daily, now, the climatic changes prove beyond doubt that the planet is sick and needs immediate and skilful care to re-establish equilibrium. Time is running out for men to halt the transformation which is being daily wrought on planet Earth. Every man, woman and child must play their part in the task. Time is, verily, running out. S.O.P. headed by Maitreya, the World Teacher, are highly advanced teachers and advisors of humanity who are planning to work openly in the world very soon. Readers may be interested to note that it is hoped that S.O.P. will eventually

become an internationally well-known phrase to rally all to take action to save our planet

*The terms “men” and “man” are used throughout this article in the generic sense referring to all people.

When one looks deeply into the present situation in the world, two things stand out as particularly important: the danger of war and the accel-eration of the Earth’s ecologi-cal imbalance. There are, of course, many other problems: the economic debacle which affects many countries, espe-cially in the West; the huge increases in the price of food, especially the staple diet of many millions; the huge, and growing, disparity in living standards between the rich and the poor. All of these problems are important and require early resolution. The two first named must command the attention of all sensible men* and governments for they present the greatest threat to man’s well-be-ing. Wars, large and small, should by now be unthinkable, but, sadly, this is not the case. Even a world which has known the folly and futility of war at its most terrible has still not relinquished, totally, that abomi-nation. The governments are seduced into thinking that old ways will, after all, render up their coveted prize. The weapons of war, therefore, have become indispensable

Hardships and Friendships: Embraced by Conscious Communityby Sydney L. Murray

“One of the sayings in our country is Ubuntu—the essence of being human. Ubuntu speaks particularly about the fact that you can’t exist as a human being in isolation. It speaks about our interconnectedness. You can’t be human all by yourself, and when you have this quality—Ubuntu—you are known for your generosity. We think of ourselves far too frequently as just individuals, separated from one another, whereas you are connected and what you do affects the whole World.” - Desmond Tutu

Our theme this month is Conscious Community. So what does that mean? To me, it means that as a group of people brought together by love, devotion or service, we seek to better the lives of those around us—to improve the world we live in and to better our own

lives. Respect, honesty and integrity come to mind. I remember when I first came across the term Cultural Creatives and I read the

defining checklist. I was amazed and thought, That is exactly our readership—my community.

A few years back, I had once again interviewed Paul Ray who had coined the term Cultural Creatives, which he described as the people who are bringing An Emerging Planetary Wisdom Culture into being. This wave of the Wisdom Culture is ever apparent to me as we walk toward global transformation. We must move toward a more sustainable future and take care of all the people, not just some of the people. We must practice great outer care and inner care. It’s about taking care of our minds, lives and hearts, of those we love and who love us, and to always be of service.

Our theme this month is Conscious Community and I have never been more aware of the strong and vibrant community I have around me as I look back over this last year and especially the last two months.

I have experienced the effects of a rare blood disorder that is somewhat of a mystery to my hematologists. I have learned to integrate as many holistic therapies as I can, but I have still had to engage with the western medical community, which has been both a positive and negative experience.

When I think about community, I am filled with gratitude that so many of my friends, loved ones and family have been there with me in body and spirit.

I find solace in going to visit the indomitable Victoria Gevoian, Director of the Joshua Tree Retreat Center. Her spirit and zest for life always ground me. I have enjoyed going to events such as the Conscious Life Expo, finding myself amazed at what Robert Quicksilver has created. To laugh, dance, and hug as I joined the camaraderie and love that is found at events like Bhakti Fest and Lightning in a Bottle with such an amazing group of people whose desire for change in this new emerging

cooperative culture is real; it is not imagined.

In the face of adversity, I was kindly reminded by a friend that when we resist change, sometimes change happens. In these last months I often pondered the paradox of the stress caused by creating and continuing a holistic magazine.

I think of this blood disorder as an opportunity to make radical changes in my life.

I am truly blessed to have some amazing people at Vision Magazine, which is a community all of its own. To know that we have touched so many lives and all of the amazing people I have met is heartfelt.

I have had the honor of seeing true miracles occur. I have received emails from readers, kind notes from strangers, and a wonderful

gift from a friend whom I hadn’t seen in years. It is truly beautiful as I look down upon my hand. His love is a godsend.

I am reminded of dear old friends that I desire to not take for granted and spend more time with.

Community also asks us to stand outside of ourselves and to look at the possibility of better ways of living with and supporting one another.

There is a palatable energy when people gather with the intention of expression—be it a dance class, hip-hop yoga, surfing with buddies, or a Sunday service—I find my heart is always lifted.

I have been so blessed to have so many kind, generous, and thoughtful people who have really shown me tremendous acts of compassion, real love, and true friendship, not only in this past year, but also throughout my life.

The challenges have been great, yet with the knowledge that I have so many people reaching out to me, whether it is a meal, a hike, or a talk, is comforting. When times are tough, I have been reminded of those loved ones and those who have supported me in so many creative, generous and loving ways. You know who you are.

I realized that part of my healing process is to embrace more likeminded people. Each one of you in our community that spreads support and action is meaningful to me, especially those individuals that seek no harm to themselves and others. It is you that I am surrounding myself with in the healing process.

There are always reasons we draw people or situations in life. I have to take full responsibility for mine, heal, and move into the vibrant and full life that was once mine.

There are those of you that have stepped up to the proverbial plate when I most needed it, from tests, transfusions and house clearings, you will be in my heart forever. I know now that my community reaches far and wide and is in fact global. So many wonderful people have reached out and offered refuge in such amazing places that I am awash in choices.

I have work to do to reactivate my life and my vision. What this last month has taught me is that I am resilient beyond my own belief.

That when it got tough, I felt sorry for myself and anger at the situation, but then slowly I realized that I am strong and loved by so many amazing people who have really been there for me no matter the circumstances. I am loved and I am deeply in debt to my own pod of people and all of the Conscious Community. We are at a pivotal time in life where many are looking to December 21st as a time of rebirth, where love dominates, where hatred and cruelty are no longer tolerated. Love is the answer. Thank you to my friends and loved ones. You have shown me the way once again.

Secrets Revealed on Health and Longevity by Bob Hilke

It likely comes as no surprise to hear that you can favorably influence your level of wellness through nutrition. I chose to study Nutritional Sciences because of my passion for helping people become healthier. What you put in your body really does matter, and modern science has much to offer as we

seek solutions to improve our health and longevity. The scientific knowledge base related to Nutritional Sciences is growing fast,

demanding greater recognition by other health science disciplines. Personally, I have chosen to focus my efforts on two areas where I believe there is significant opportunity to help people.

Drink to Your HealthDid you know that the type of water you drink can have a direct impact on

your health and longevity? Everyone drinks water, or at least they ought to. Most people would surely

agree that the water typically available to drink comes up short in terms of being optimal in purity and hydration properties.

In my opinion, optimal water is a standard much higher than being void of contaminants. Regardless of the method of purification, water naturally tends toward a positive oxidation value as measured by Oxidative Reduction Potential.

The positive ORP value indicates that the water promotes oxidation. You can see evidence of this whenever you see metal at the bottom of a lake—it is likely full of rust because of the oxidative influence of the water. This is important to us because in our bodies, the aging process is partially driven by oxidation as free radicals attack cells.

On the other hand, if water were to have a negative ORP, it could help slow down the effect of the free radicals and more favorably influence the oxidation versus regeneration equation. There is a kind of water with a negative ORP known as Ionized Alkaline Water. Beyond having an alkaline pH, this water is micro clustered, which helps improve the hydration and detoxification properties of the water. Ionized Alkaline Water is made using a water ionizer machine that sits on the kitchen counter or underneath the sink. There are many models to choose from and I recommend paying the extra for the best quality machine because it will produce a strong negative ORP and last many years.

The one I personally use and recommend is the Enagic LeveLuk SD501 Kangen Water ® Ionizer. I have helped many people obtain one of these machines and my clients are very pleased with the results. I can’t think of anything that could help so many people as improving the quality of drinking water they consume, and helping them get better hydrated! Not to mention this water’s ability to promote detoxification, provide free-radical scavenging and encourage longevity. As a bonus, high quality water ionizers can produce five different types of water, including water that can replace harmful cleaning chemicals so that you can create a greener home with toxic-free cleaning.

Get to the Heart of the MatterAnother area that I concentrate on is the role of nutrition in cardiovascular

health. It is widely known that heart disease is by far the number one killer today in the United States. Many people are not aware that they are at risk, and fewer yet are familiar with Nobel Prize winning research that can help us mitigate risk.

There is one molecule that is of particular importance at the core of cardiovascular health, and it is known as Nitric Oxide, the focus of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Three U.S. scientists received the Nobel Prize for demonstrating the significant role Nitric Oxide plays in cardiovascular health.

Uncle Tasso: “Why don’t you ask your grandfather?”Me: “Because he’s dead.” Uncle Tasso: (beat) “He got off lucky...” - An exchange between my Uncle Tasso and me when I asked him to read an

early draft of something I’d written

To Whom It May Concern:As you read this, I want you to hear it

like a public service announcement, only not as lighthearted or as much fun. This is serious business. What I am about to address is a problem which, though it doesn’t strike many, permanently scars those it does afflict.

We all know that the Internet has de-mocratized the world of writing so that there are arguably a lot more writers today than ever before. But just as sure as there are more people who expressly devote time to writing and getting pub-lished, there are per force more people who are cast in the unenviable role of having to read those writers’ first drafts. They are the ones expected to wade through the swamp of that initial effort. Typically, writers refer to these people as “my spouse/partner/cellmate.”

In short, they are modern-day heroes, diving on the grenade of the writer’s as-piration. Or literary crash test dummies, suffering in silence as they endure the premeditated train wreck that is a first draft. For me, the lines blur. Regardless, if this scenario sounds familiar, this column is dedicated to you.

That’s because though lots of people want to be writers, no one wants to be the person some writer asks to read a first draft. For the uninitiated, in its darkest light, “first draft” is writer-speak for “I finally sat my lazy ass down and actually strung some words together. Would you mind reading it and telling me how great I am?” Speaking only for myself, I would rather be the taste-tester

at the Monsanto Research Kitchen, Genetically Modified Foods Di-vision, than that person. But this isn’t about me--it’s about those poor wretches, in what may be otherwise fulfilling relationships, who are im-paled on the spike of their partner’s prose.

Perhaps you’ve just met a writer and are thinking about getting more deeply involved with that per-son. Beyond telling you to immedi-ately run as fast and as far as you can from them, I will offer these simple

practical solutions. First, ever-so-subtly plant the seed that you’re functionally illiterate, and that if the scribe in your life really cares about you, they will ac-cept you as such. Be aware that this will in all likelihood only temporarily keep them at bay. If that ploy begins to fail, drop strategic hints about your nascent interest in firearms, hand-held explosives and the lost art of the perfect crime.

If that doesn’t work, put the focus for your remedy on the writer, suggesting alternative modes of expression, activities that can act as substitutes for writing. The key here is to suggest something more glamorous or colorful. Like, say, Extreme Taxidermy™ (This is a budding sport/hobby that involves stuffing animals. While they’re still alive. I took the liberty of trademarking it just in case it catches on.)

And if that doesn’t work, I give you the Kubler-Ross model*. (* The reference here is to the model put forth by Bucky Kubler-Ross, Elizabeth Kubler-Ross’ much younger, far less intelligent brother, in his seminal book On Death and Reading, a tome inspired by his work with terminally bad writers.)

Like his older sister’s model, Bucky’s incorporates the five stages of grief. Let’s apply that model to the life of the involuntarily conscripted reader.

Stage 1/Denial: When confronted with unsolicited reading material, this can take many forms. It can be manifested with regard to you as the target of the writer’s work (“This can’t be happening to me.”) or the writing itself (“This isn’t that bad...”). Signs that either approach aren’t working include a sudden desire to enter the federal Witness Protection Program or a sap-like material inexplicably oozing from your ears whenever you read the material in question;

Stage 2/Anger: Here the reader recognizes that denial isn’t working, giving birth to rage. The anger can express itself in many different ways, with just as many objects. Typically, though, it finds its target in any and all expres-sions, written or otherwise, from the offending writer. Things to look for: dead fish/animals wrapped in newspaper, left within close proximity to the writer’s computer;

Stage 3/Bargaining: This involves the reader’s attempt to do anything but read the material in question. Sometimes this can involve invoking a higher power (“Why don’t you pay an editor to do this?”) in exchange for a severely

Ask the LifeQuake™ Doctor

Dr. Toni GalardiDear Dr. Toni,I am 48 years old and I am very unhappy with my husband. I want to break away

from my marriage, but I am scared I won’t be able to support myself financially. I’ve never worked in my life. I’ve been busy raising our three children and now they are all grown up.

I see a huge resemblance between my life and my mom›s life. She stayed with my father, even though she was miserable, for the same reason as I. I am afraid I am a bad example (“no matter what, stay with your husband”) for my daughter as my mom was for me. (I love my mom, I am not blaming her for anything, she did her best.)

Twelve years ago my husband cheated on me with a younger woman and he was very abusive towards me during that time. It was an extremely hard time for me. I felt be-trayed and I thought I would die.

So last Saturday I woke up after dreaming that he is cheating on me again and that, for some reason, made me feel very light and happy during the whole day. I felt some kind of freedom inside of me. Why?

Please, Toni, I really need help, I want to know if there is a hidden meaning in my dream.

Thank you so much. Dreaming

Dear Reader:Dreams can be interpreted on many levels. If we take the dream at face value and assume this is your intuition speaking to

you, the dream is not so hidden in its meaning. You are ready to experience the affair no longer as a betrayal but as a mechanism for your release from the marriage.

When one is betrayed by a partner through an affair, the betrayal has usually begun with one’s self. How did you prostitute yourself for financial security? Ac-cording to the spiritual teacher and writer Carolyn Myss, the most common group of people living out the prostitute archetype are married women. Further, not just women who aren’t bringing in an income, prostitute themselves.

I know two women who are supporting their younger husbands and they over-extend themselves to keep them as they move into older middle age. Statistically, women in two income households do more than their share of the housework. It is also a fact that men in middle age marry more quickly after a divorce so many women fear being alone the rest of their lives.

Some part of you, dear reader, has begun to trust (at least at an unconscious level)

that you will get the support you need to start a new life or you wouldn’t have felt lighter after the dream.

Continue to pay attention to your dreams for direction. Before going to bed, take out your journal and write out a question. Repeat three times, “I am remem-bering my dreams in the morning.” Write down in your journal upon awakening, whatever you recall, even if it is just a feeling. Dream recall is like a muscle. You have to exercise it repeatedly to get consistent results.

Keep paying attention to the feeling you experience upon awakening from the dream. It will guide you to the deeper significance of the dream.

When I work with a client, I always have them track their dreams so that I can assess what is really going on beneath the surface of their consciousness.

May your dreams reveal your hidden self and make you whole!

Dear Readers:Christmas is advertised as the season of giving. With the confluence of shop-

ping on a tight budget, extra cooking and baking, and attending to sick relatives and friends during flu season, we often end up giving too much!

Here is my Christmas gift to you. Anyone who emails me during the month of December, I will send a powerful visualization for calming the brain, I call The Electric Heart Network.

Another great practice to do during the holidays is to take five minutes out every night before sleep, and write down three things you are grateful for in your life. Then take one thing that is challenging you and ask to be shown intuitively how this working FOR you not against you. The answer may come when you least expect it.

Happy, peaceful holidays and may we all experience our blessings as we close this auspicious 2012!

Secrets Of Consciousness Can Be Found In Ancient Egypt by Jane Doherty

Who are you? Why are you here? The way you look, feel, think and act is solely you. Whether you can describe yourself in de-tail or not depends on how conscious you are.

Imagine standing at the edge of a lake gazing into the still waters. What do you see? You will see an image of yourself and the shadows of your surroundings reflected in the water. How much detail can you describe about what you see?

Most people will describe their reflection in terms of physical characteris-tics such as gender, hair and eye color. However, there is much more behind consciousness than recognizing your physical being and acknowledging your existence.

Think of the possibilities you would find if you could look into the depths beneath the lake’s water. You would probably find small fish swimming or-

feeding on the bottom of the lake, various kinds of plants growing, small and large stones lining the bot-tom and more. The secret life of your consciousness is like that lake.

As you delve beyond the surface of who you are, you discover there is much more then what you see in a re-flection. Your secret true self and the answers to why you are here lies beneath your consciousness.

Ancient cultures had an advantage over modern societies. They knew the secrets of their true selves. The ancients didn’t have to wait for something to trigger off the awakening process. They came into life aware and focused on spirituality on a daily basis. In contrast, most of humanity today knows very little about their conscious life.

What Is Consciousness?Consciousness is a special quality of the mind that permits you to know you

exist. You perceive your world through your 5 senses and determine what you like or don’t like. It is the me factor of existence.

Do all people have the same experience of consciousness? Some people are more conscious than others. The degree is based on experience and how much you can concentrate and focus on a particular thing. Your thoughts, memo-ries, feelings, sensations and environment shift and change. One moment you can be reading a book and the next moment your thoughts are focused on a childhood memory. Your ability to focus enhances consciousness.

Why bother to become aware? It can lead to inner peace, better decisions, greater faith, more confidence and spiritual wisdom. Limited awareness limits wisdom and your ability to accomplish your goals.

Your Soul Is 100% SpiritualYou are born with the spiritual essence within you. It is untapped until

you begin to wonder, “Who am I?” or “What is the purpose of life?” When you realize there is more to your existence than the cultural and childhood boundaries imposed upon you, the spiritual process starts to unfold. This new awareness inspires you to look beyond those boundaries. Once you do, sudden wisdom, deep emotion and a new awareness of the world around you further develops your spirituality.

Have you ever experienced someone who lamented about a mistake they made in life as a result of a decision? Perhaps, you have heard the comment,

“I wish I knew then what I know now. If I did, I would have made a different decision.” Becom-ing consciously awake and following a spiritual path will help you avoid making those same comments years from now.

One of the myths about spirituality is that you have to do something that is drastically differ-ent than what and who you are at the moment. Instead, the key is simply self-discovery. Try the following exercises to jumpstart your conscious awareness.

Look at the blue sky and the bright sun and notice how you feel. Then at night look into the dark night sky and observe all those twinkling stars. You are a part of this vast universe. What do you feel is your relationship to it? Do you feel

overwhelmed by the vastness or empowered by it? Another exercise to try is to go on an imaginary journey. Get quiet, relax and

close your eyes. Imagine you have the ability to experience your pure soul, which is the inner sanctum within you. Take notice of your feelings in this free space. Outward appearances have no importance. You don’t need to be good looking or slim to feel good. Those extra pounds mean nothing in this inner space. No parental advice or societal expectation can affect your personal space. When you enter this inner space and leave behind physical attributes, you experience your soul - pure and divine. This is your true self and what you are trying to experi-ence everyday as part of a higher perception of life.

The ancient Egyptians recognized the importance of this higher perception. Meditation and contemplation centers you into the deeper levels of the mind where you can gain access to a higher perception. Just like the ancients this is still the best way to develop spirituality.

Should You Follow The Spiritual Path of the Ancient Egyptians? The answer is yes for several reasons. Ancient Egypt is considered a sacred

power spot on the earth. These power spots possess unseen influences that give people who visit there access to spiritual energy. Certain rhythms of energy have the mysterious ability to awaken and catalyze compassion, wisdom and higher perception.

What made ancient Egyptians so focused on higher consciousness? Why is modern man not focused on the same, yet we consider ourselves advanced be-cause we are modern? The answer is the secret knowledge the ancients possessed that is veiled from modern man. These secrets motivated the ancients to fer-vently climb a spiritual ladder towards the gods.

Walking the path of the ancients in Egypt accelerates your own awakening and is the best way to achieve spirituality and higher consciousness.

Where Is This Secret Knowledge?

The likely place for the secret knowledge is under the paw of the Sphinx. According to the trance readings of mystic, Edgar Cayce, he predicted the Hall of Records

Everyday Awakening Are You Eating for Consciousness?

by Doc Alchemy

Would you like to start living through your heart as a fully aware 21st century “true” human being, feeling less stressed and more aware?

Do you realize that you can influence consciousness through food choices? Would you like to accelerate the process of higher Consciousness and protect yourself

from the environment around you at the same time? All of this is possible with the awareness of certain foods, nutrients, and perhaps most importantly,

adaptogenic herbs which help the body “adapt” to environmental factors and deal with stress. We’re all led to believe the body has certain nutritional requirements: vitamins, minerals and calories needed to maintain the human body in a relative state of health. Beyond that, it is important to consider the way that Chinese healing arts view human beings as a blend of heaven and Earth, with our feet on the ground and our head in the heavens, each needing to be nurtured for true health to occur.

Where does the soul and consciousness come into all of this?As a Diplomate of Chinese Herbology, I love teaching about the effects on healing and consciousness with

food and adaptogenic herbs. My lifelong journey as an herbalist began after drinking a simple cup of herbal tea which changed my perception. The yogic concept of maya, to understand the world as an illusion, began to make sense to me. I’ve spent the better part of the next 20 years learning about energy, healing, herbs and spirituality. Understanding how herbs work energetically on my body allowed me to tap into a higher state of consciousness.

The quality and type of food you eat, as well as the herbs you take have a direct effect on your energy body and sensitivity. There is a reason that so many spiritual disciplines recommend eating a vegetarian diet. It’s lighter, easier to digest and cleansing to your energy body.

So how does what you eat directly affect your spiritual life? It’s easier to understand it in terms of what’s happening to your energy body when you meditate. Meditation has an effect of opening and synchronizing certain energy centers called chakras. The ones in your head and your heart are the main focus of most meditation.

Whenever you consciously sit down to meditate or pray, you’re sending out a signal to the Divine to connect. Depending on the type of meditation you’re doing, your crown, ajna and medulla energy centers of your brain will open up to receive energy and send it down to your heart chakra. Feelings of peace, love and contentment during and after meditation are directly related to the effectiveness of the particular practice you’re involved in.

This is where the role of food and high quality adaptogenic herbs comes in. Opening your heart is one of the keys to successful meditation. The key to opening your heart is dealing with the chakra right below it, which is your solar plexus. Here’s where it gets a little tricky. The combination of poor diet and stress stagnates both your organs and your chakras. This leads to even more stress and the shutting down of your heart and the chakras in your head. It all starts with your solar plexus. This is where you hold all of your stress; it’s the main residence of ego expression. It also determines how much your heart gets to express itself. An overactive solar plexus closes down your heart and limits your ability to pull energy down through the upper chakras in your head.

What does this have to do with your intake of food and herbs? It’s important to know that what you feed your body directly affects your organs and their energy centers.

The organs associated with the solar plexus are your liver and pancreas. Having a diet loaded with sugar, for example, overwhelms the pancreas just like too much greasy food stagnates the liver. When these organs are working overtime trying to deal with poor diet, it makes it even harder for the solar plexus to deal with the energetic effects of stress.

Your liver is in charge of the flow of energy throughout your entire body, including the flow of energy into the chakras in your head. Stress and a poor diet reduce the experience of being in the flow of the universe. Volumes have been written about how fatty foods are directly related to heart disease, but as you can see, it’s not just because of arteries clogging. It also disrupts the energy field supporting your heart.

An example is when you eat green leafy vegetables, which are very cleansing to the liver and pancreas,

response, assisting the body in its effort to regulate excessive stress hormone. One of the reasons you feel lighter and brighter after meditation is due to the intake of light into the chakras and the speeding up of the rotation of the chakras. This enables them to increase their intake of energy and expel dirty energy from the brain. All of these functions are choked off by a glandular system locked in chronic stress response.

If you don’t take the time to deal with stress, creativity suffers as you withdraw from your heart chakra. Anger and frustration literally constrict your heart energy and shrink the chakras in your brain. Ego takes over and leads to more anger and stress. It becomes a vicious cycle.

Your choices of food and herbs impact the way you express yourself at every moment. Being conscious of how food and herbs influence the chakras of consciousness creates a seamless transition into a more conscious life.

The Solution: Adaptogenic HerbsOne of the reasons I love formulating adaptogenic herbs is that you can regulate

your stress response while simultaneously activating your upper chakras. This is a simple way to change your perception of and reaction to stress.

I created my latest formula Tian Chi [tee-on-chee] for this specific purpose. It allows you to experience a shift in perception and create a change in consciousness. TianChi means “heavenly energy” and works immediately to influence the way you perceive and react to stress.

TianChi contains five of the greatest adaptogens in the world, all of which are wild-crafted, non-GMO, Kosher certified, non-irradiated and pesticide free: Ashwagandha (Sensoril), Eleuthro, Reishi, Rhodiola and Schizandra. Each has its own function and works synergistically to have the potential to create a multi-layered effect on your health.

Stress and energy get peoples attention. The bigger picture is changing the

making it easier for both to work at optimum function. This also facilitates the processing of emotional stress since the solar plexus isn’t burdened with sluggish organs or the dirty energy of too much greasy animal based food. Science has proven that eating ten servings of fruits and vegetables a day reduces your chances of premature death by 40 percent. Even more importantly, these same ten servings would prepare you for experiencing higher consciousness.

If you are on a path of enlightenment, concentrate on green leafy vegetables, salads, and berries making sure you eat organically whenever possible. The aura of organic fruits

and vegetables is so much more alive that it can’t help but transfer over to your own energy.

I had unknowingly prepared my energy body for my awakening experience by eating a highly nutritious vegetarian diet for many years. Only then was a cup of Chinese herbal tea able to affect me the way it did and start me on a path of higher consciousness. Certain herbs have the unique effect of healing both your physical as well as your energy body and enhancing the way they work together. Herbs are concentrated foods and can have a much greater impact than food alone.

How does dealing with stress properly enhance you as a human being? We have a crisis in this country; in fact, it’s worldwide. It’s called stress.

Everyone’s heard of it but no one really understands it. Stress plays a role in every chronic condition and dealing with it can have very profound effects on a person’s health and state of consciousness.

Just relaxing doesn’t really relieve stress, as it has such a complex way of disrupting every bodily function. One of the worst effects of stress is premature aging of the brain, along with a host of other life threatening diseases. The reality is that in today’s world, we have another crisis in addition to physical stress. It’s a spiritual one.

The inability of people to see themselves as spiritual beings directly feeds into all the hate, anger, hostility and stress affecting the entire planet. There is a definite disconnect between who we really are and our expression in life.

You may think we are actually dealing with two issues—we’re not. Energetically, the root problem is identical. The stress response is working on the same glands, energy centers and chakras involved in transformation or even meditation; it all revolves around the same thing. The HPA axis (hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis) involved in the stress response is linked to the centers of energy (crown, ajna, medulla & ming mein) involved in meditation. These very same centers are involved in transformational experiences.

How does meditation relieve stress and increase consciousness? Meditation nourishes chakras related to the glands involved in the stress

Eco Chic Retreat: Community-Building Inside and Out by Nikki Lyn Pugh, MFA

“When you have peace within, real peace with others is possible.” - Thich Naht Hahn

For all of us whose commitment to spirituality and sustainability go hand in hand, truer words were never spoken. Many of us had to learn this lesson the hard way as we experienced our own self-neglect turning quickly to reactionary statements and actions towards others. At the same time, we also see how the frenetic pace of our out-of-balance world creates

policies that are just as out of balanced. And in the middle of a recession, the collective chaos affects people, especially women, all the more glaringly. Right now, says the National Institutes of Mental Health, nearly twice as many American women than men have been diagnosed with depression. But with all that we have to do these days, who can

really afford the time and resources for deep reflection and self-care? The real question, however, is “Who can afford not to?” Neuroscientists have long known about the connection between high amounts of stress and poor decision-making ability. Today more than ever, the personal is political. There are lights em erging at the end of the tunnel, however. Eco Chic Retreat (ECR), Taos – based filmmaker Jody McNicholas and Vail-based massage therapist Karen Vardanega have ceated a unique and affordable way to unplug and reconnect with self. Eco Chic Retreat is a DVD-based program that contains everything a busy woman needs for “Do-It-Yourself Mind/Body/Spirit Renewal.” The program is chock-full of enough instruction for 3 full days of intention setting, yoga, meditation, qi gong, painting, cooking and reflective journaling. “This entire project has been about collaborating ideas and creating a weekend experience that will invigorate and replenish,” McNicholas says about ECR. “Karen and I have been meeting for over a decade in an informal way in order to help each other slow down and focus on self-care. After each long weekend together, we found that we had more patience, more sustained kindness towards ourselves and others, more internal peace, more flexibility in our mind and body and a deeper connection to source.“ One day, Karen suggested that the two collaborate on an instructional DVD to help other women have the same experience. Jody loved the idea and the two wasted no time in setting the project in motion. To create the DVD, Jody and Karen enlisted the assistance of artists and healing practitioners from all over the country. The intention of Eco Chic Retreat is to not only nurture mind, body and spirit but also to create a do-it-anywhere retreat that is fun and affordable. “We wanted to be part of the solution,” says McNicholas. “It all starts with bringing out our own unique gifts and sharing them with the world.”

What Can We Expect after 12/21/12?by Nina Brown

Not much has been written about the beginning of the next Great Cycle, which follows the end of the Long Count in the Mayan calendar. On winter solstice, December 21, of this year, the equator of the Milky Way galaxy (Galactic Equator) and

the path of the Sun (the Ecliptic) will cross each other at exactly 11:11 am GMT. At that moment we might want to ask, “How will my life be different?” The quick answer is that you will most likely wake up the next morning and wonder why so many people had made such a fuss about the date. My answer is that if you are connected to Gaia, Mother Earth, your life may be different.

My answer is based on the many years of discovery by light workers all over the planet who have been preparing for 12-21-12. Light workers tell us that over many years, starseeds (old souls) have returned to planet earth to repair ley lines, a grid similar to longitude and latitude lines but composed of conscious energy lines of the planet itself. Once incarnated, the starseeds were also called to place crystals, which hold knowledge, in sacred sites around the world. Many of the starseeds participated in ceremonies on the triple dates, which began at the beginning of this century (8-8-08, 9-9-09, 10-10-10, 11-11-11, and 12-12-12). During these ceremonies, master dormant Atlantean crystals, which had been saved from the deluge of Atlantis in 17,500 BC, were partially activated deep within the earth. At the same time, the 144-facet crystalline grid had been manifesting and activating on each sequential triple date. This grid is like an aura (subtle energy field) for Mother Earth. Everything will be in place on 12-12-12 and will be activated on 12-21-12 to restore and expand the consciousness of the planetary sentient being, Gaia. December 21, 2012, therefore, is all about Gaia and her ascension, or shift to a higher frequency.

On the day after winter solstice, Gaia will be connected to the 144-facet crystalline grid at a new frequency of consciousness. When the new Great Cycle begins, we move from a state of doing to one of being—being in a new relationship with Mother Earth. Like our indigenous ancestors, we too can become one with the planet and feel our interconnectedness with her. This bonding with Gaia will accelerate our own ascension process. When we breathe in the new energy in rhythm with the planet, we will awaken

to a new level of consciousness as well. In effect, our ascension is directly related to that of Gaia and will progress by means of our integrity, intention, imagination, and work. The work will involve clearing old beliefs and patterns that have been our identity and replacing them with the remembrance of who we truly are, where we come from, and why we are on the planet.

It is likely that readers drawn to this article came from the stars, or the future, as divine humans to assist with the creation, anchoring, and nurturing of the Golden Age of Divine Love, the next golden age. Many multidimensional tools have been gifted to assist us in doing this inner alchemy work. Sacred sites, crystals, pure essential oils, an

experiential gathering known as the S.T.A.R. clinic (www.STARclinic.org), the presence

of walking masters, books, ancient crystal skulls, even channeled movies and music can assist us in raising our frequency from the dense vibration of negative emotions (fear, shame, lack of self-love) to the higher vibration of love and compassion.

Gaia’s ascension on December 21, 2012, offers each of us the opportunity to reestablish an interconnected relationship with Mother Earth, so that as she experiences the new energies coming to the planet, so too will they enter into our field. We will breathe in the pure life force, or prana, that, no longer transduced to accommodate a third dimensional reality, brings a

Aries: Sun (2 of Pentacles) 3/21–4/19 The various projects you have been managing will finally show signs of success, either monetarily or through validation from others. This does not mean that you can rest on your laurels just yet; some clever juggling will be necessary to keep things going. Be sure that by the 20th you have all your ducks in a row, or else what you’ve worked so hard for will fall apart. Concurrently, there are opportunities to gamble a little, so don’t be too timid to take a risk. This is also an excellent time for self-promotion, entertainment or competition.

Taurus: World (2 of Cups) 4/20 – 5/21 A relationship will yield some interesting prospects that could change the course of your life, be it a proposal, marriage, baby, rewarding partnership, or perhaps a reconcili-ation that brings great healing. It could also be a profound connection with something that generates a new sense of purpose and direction: art, nature, spirituality or a humani-tarian endeavor. Your perception of life will be affected by everything around you; make it a point to honor what’s most sacred and release the rest. Around the New Moon on the 13th, your magnetism begins to attract more than you may need. Be discriminating!

Gemini: Hierophant (10 of Cups) 5/22 – 6/21A situation in the family calls for a careful examination of your priorities. Although cir-cumstances are emotionally charged, you must maintain a dispassionate view of things. Certainly family concerns take priority, but when they begin to interfere with other important obligations, you need to reassess. Your involvement in family matters may also distract you from accomplishing other tasks. Be sure to balance your own responsibilities with those of others; codependent behaviors will thwart your efforts if you’re not atten-tive. Be aware of legal matters around the 7th and don’t try rescuing anyone.

Cancer: Devil (8 of Pentacles) 6/22 – 7/22All work and no play will certainly not keep the devil away. Face it, you’re doing too much. Take an inventory of your priorities, because it’s likely that you are over-stretching to keep yourself distracted. Examine your affairs and be honest about how you spend your time. You may find that the job you’re in is stifling your passion. Rather than use responsibility as an excuse, express yourself and see what happens. Office politics around the 14th are likely to cause feelings of frustration. Do your best avoid choosing sides and when you’re feeling stressed, let go and breathe!

Leo: (2 of Wands) Fool 7/23 – 8/23 An idea you have been playing around with is ready for the taking. There are two options for beginning, so don’t be discouraged if your first attempt fails. No time for delay—the vision has coalesced into a manageable project. All that’s missing now is implementation. For those embroiled in a love affair, there is a surprise for you around the Full Moon on the 28th; hope it’s what you want! Be open to spontaneity this month and you’ll discover a new passion for life. People will be attracted to your enthusiasm and want to be near you.

Virgo: World (Queen of Pentacles) 8/24 – 9/22 Relationships weigh heavily on your heart and mind: how to get out of one, and/or get in another; how to salvage difficult ones and honor important ones. If you consider that all relationships are reflections of you and your hidden aspects, you may want to look at how each person affects you. Ask yourself what their energy adds to your life—or what it deprives you of. It’s also important to respect your own boundaries and not lose yourself trying to please someone else. Look for a confession around the 22nd. This will quickly dissolve your illusions about someone close..

Libra: Hermit (4 of Pentacles) 9/23 – 10/23It’s believed that life demands an active engagement and this is usually mistaken as activity. Why believe that every moment must be filled with doing? After juggling relationships, work, and family, you often neglect the source of your power. Unfortu-nately, exhaustion becomes justification for avoiding deeper reflection, which results in feelings of indifference or depression. Instead of pushing these dark feelings away, regard this de-pression as a way of filtering out the superficial concerns of life. After all, you are constantly im-pressed with the cares of the world. Make time each day to contemplate. This will restore the sense of balance in your life.

Scorpio: Temperance (King of Pentacles) 10/24 – 11/22This month is a highly productive period for art, industry or home economics. You are full of energy and motivation and can make things happen. Whether it’s related to work or personal interests, as you put the pieces together, you’ll be amazed to see what hap-pens. Solutions to problems seem to appear out of thin air. This is also a promising time financially. Use your unique talent for creatively combining resources, especially around the 9th. Be cautious though, your golden touch can be a lot of responsibility; focus on one project at a time.

Sagittarius: Justice (4 of Swords) 11/23 – 12/21A balanced mind is needed to make big decisions this month. It’s important to separate facts from feelings in order to see things clearly, and if you’re swayed too much in either direction, you’ll prolong this impasse. A problematic situation which arises at the begin-ning of the month will be resolved around the 28th, but until then, reserve your judg-ment. In business matters, issues of fairness will creep into the conversation. You may be admonished for incomplete projects. Be honest about what you can and cannot do. Trying to prove yourself only causes you more stress.

Capricorn: Judgment (5 of Cups) 12/22 – 1/20Feelings of regret only block your opportunity to learn and heal. Mistakes are the fertil-izer from which great accomplishments are grown. You’re not always going to get it right, but the degree to which you do your best will yield the most positive results. A loss around the 22nd brings up feelings of failure. It’s important to allow yourself to grieve through the process. The stages of grief are: denial, bargaining, anger, depression and ac-ceptance. Recognize where you are by giving expression to the associated feelings. Things don’t happen to us—they happen for us. Brighter days are ahead.

Aquarius: Wheel of Fortune (5 of Wands) 1/21 – 2/18Changes and new opportunities are always available; however, to take advantage of them, you’re the one that needs to move toward them. Be honest about how your problems might be serving you by asking yourself, “If I didn’t have this problem holding me back, what would I be doing?” You may realize that what you’re really resisting is the responsi-bility of having the very thing you wish for. Ironically, problems are buffers and excuses that disguise themselves as roadblocks. Stop spinning aimlessly and commit to a direc-tion. The chance you’ve been waiting for presents itself around the 16th, so go for it!

Pisces: Hanged Man (King of Cups) 2/19 – 3/20 Adaptability may be your forte, but this month it could also be your downfall. You’ve got tooA great paradox in life is that what you resist persists. In your refusal to accept a situation or person, you inadvertently commit yourself to the charge of that feeling. Emotions are full of energy, and energy cannot be destroyed. It can, however, be changed. A seemingly hopeless situation around the 20th offers a catalyst for growth, but to take advantage of it, you must be willing let go of your defenses and excuses. There’s a lot of movement in this surrender, specifically pertaining to your perspective. Don’t look at things as a problem; look at them as a puzzle.

The Old Woman and the Seer

Excerpt from Memoirs of the New Age

by Beth Green

Long ago, there lived a warlord who governed a rich province in northern China. One day, the warlord’s guards brought to him an old woman, who bore across her shoulders a yoke from which hung two water pails.

“What do we have here?” asked the warlord, his multi-colored silk robe in dazzling contrast to her drab peasant dress.

“My lord, this woman was caught among the chickens, trying to steal their food,” said one of the guards, who stood proudly beside his captive.

“Oh?” bellowed the great lord, twisting his moustache. “Do you dare to steal from me, knowing that such theft is punishable by death?”

The old woman sagged before the warlord’s gaze. With head bowed, she tried to gesture with her hands, but could speak no words in her defense.

As the lord was about to order her execution, a young woman hurried into the great hall.

“What is it, Winter Lily? What can be the matter that brings you into my hall when I sit in council?”

“My lord,” said the woman, who had recently become one of the great lord’s wives. “I have an urgent favor to ask of you. Please show your mercy and spare the old woman. Though you surely have the right to kill her, spare her this once, for she is my mother.”

The lord considered for a moment his young wife’s plea. She was a good girl, meek, willing to please. He had paid very little for her—her father had been grateful that her future had been assured—and he was inclined to demonstrate his magnanimity.

“Very well, little wife, your wish is granted. I shall not have her killed. Guards, take the old woman away until I decide her fate.”

Winter Lily and her mother both expressed their appreciation, and the great lord dismissed the assemblage.

As the governor rested on his chair, a young fat child entered the room, laughing and screeching.

“Ah, my little snow pea,” said the lord, extending his arms to his youngest son. “Come sit with me and have some sweets.” With that, the child ran to his father and climbed into his lap.

The swish of a robe attracted the great lord’s attention to the entrance of an elderly slender man in a robe of crimson.

“My lord, may I speak?” asked the sage.“What is it, magician?” said the governor gruffly. “Can’t you see that I’m busy?”“Yes, my lord, forgive the disturbance, but I have a very grave matter to advise

you of.”“Well, what is it?” asked the lord with annoyance. “And speak quickly.”My lord,” said the sage. “Because of your great heart and infinite mercy, you have

made a dire error. The woman you have spared today will bring about your death. This I have seen.”

“This you have seen,” mocked the great lord. “Do you expect me to alter my course and humiliate myself before all my subjects? Do you wish me to disappoint my new wife? Do you want me to tremble before the power of an old woman and make myself the object of everyone’s scorn?

“Magician, you have been wrong too many times. Be gone before I become angry.”With that the seer left. That night, the great lord had a terrifying dream. In the morning, he called for

the sage.

“Magician, come before me! Last night I had a ter-rible dream. I was in my room, and all was dark because it was night. Suddenly the floor became covered with blood, and soon the blood began to fill the whole cham-ber. I dipped my finger in the blood and started to write words on the wall, but because of the darkness, I could not read the words I wrote. Tell me, magician,” said the great lord uneasily, “what is the meaning of this dream?”

The magician thought for a moment and then spoke plainly. “The dream means that you will drown, great lord! It is that old woman, she is the cause. Listen to me and you will be saved.”

The lord became furious with the seer. Never would he admit to fearing an old woman (though he made a mental note to double her guard).

“What foolishness you talk, magician. You are try-ing to unnerve me and gain power over me. You have put your fingers into too many pots, and I will end your meddling. Guards!” he bellowed.

“Take this vermin away and cut off his fingers. Blood, you shall see blood, and the meaning of my dream....”

With his order, the deed was done.

Evolutionary Creativity What Is It, Who Does It, Why Does It Matter?

by Jan Phillips

People often deny their creative potential. They say things like “I’m not creative. I can’t even draw a straight line.” Or “I’m not artistic. I can’t paint.” There is an assumption that being creative has something to do with painting or drawing straight lines. Claiming to be creative feels

like an arrogant thing to say about yourself if you’re not an expert, not making a living from your creations, not well-known and publicly acclaimed for your imaginative gifts. But creativity is much bigger than that. Creativity is the gift we all have that enables us to convert our experiences into other forms—into stories, poems, songs, gardens, recipes, quilts. Every day we encounter a myriad of people and adventures. We talk with people. We work with people. We argue and laugh and plan with people. Then we create stories

about our interactions. Every day we wake up with a blank canvas of twenty-four hours. We call it our “day”—but it’s really our canvas for creating our life. Day by day, choice by choice, thought by thought, word by word, we create our lives. And as our intentions and energies seep out beyond the boundaries of our flesh and intermingle with the intentions and energies of others, we engage in the co-creation of our families, our communities, our cultures, and ultimately, our civilization. If you’re breathing, you’re creating something—even if it’s nothing more than the energy field a person walks into when they are near you. We know from science that our

electromagnetic field (em field) extends from 8-12 feet beyond our bodies. The HeartMath Institute (http://www.heartmath.org/) performed several studies to investigate the possibility that the electromagnetic field generated by the heart may transmit information that can be received by others. They concluded that the heart’s em field is an important carrier of information, so when two people are at a conversational distance, the electromagnetic signal generated by one person’s heart can influence the other person’s brain rhythms. For the first time, there is scientific proof that a compassionate heart can actually bring peace to the room.

If in your heart you have generated peace, compassion, ovingkindness, then that’s exactly what others experience when they are in your presence. You create in the world what you hold in your heart.

Years ago, we didn’t have the equipment to measure this kind of phenomenon. We never understood that we literally, consciously create the entire electromagnetic field around ourselves—that we create how it feels for others to be around us. We had creativity in a small box that was related to paints, colors, the arts, ballet, opera, Russian novels. Most of us were taught not to think of ourselves as “creative.” If a child went to a parent saying s/he wanted to be an artist when s/he grew up, the parent would frequently say, “ Oh honey, you can’t make any money as an artist. You’ll have to be something else.” And that child’s creativity would rarely thrive. Their imagination would not be nurtured.

And we know that our imagination is the most potent engine of change in the world. In the past year, we have watched people’s

commitment and creativity topple oppressive regimes, stop wars, challenge the status quo, connect people around the globe. Our creativity is the manifestation of our consciousness. It is our thoughts, our prayers, our words made flesh. And what makes creativity evolutionary is the additional factor of regard for the common good.

If I am conscious of how I use my energy, manage my thoughts, compose my words, create my days, then I am a conscious creator, an evolutionary creator. I am aware that I am engaged in evolution as an agent. It is not happening to me. It is happening through me. The world is in the throes of an evolutionary shift and evolutionary creators are consciously contributing to it, weighing in on the side of fairness, compassion, justice. There is a conscious evolution movement afoot and those who are in it know that. They are proud of that, committed to that, hope-filled and humbled at the great mystery and wonder of it all.

Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, author of Creativity: Flow and the Psychology of Discovery and Invention says that creativity doesn’t happen in our heads but in the interaction between our imagination and our social context. It’s a matter of experience and response, a matter of relationship to others and a commentary on the significance of our encounters. Creativity is the vivid expression of who we are in the cosmos.

The world is not divided into two groups, the creative people and the not creative people. If there’s a distinction, it’s between those who are creatively productive and those with unexpressed potential. We’re all creative by default. We’re genetically predisposed to create. Each of us, to varying degrees, is intrinsically motivated to be original and to solve challenging problems. The question to ask is not, “Am I creative?” but rather, “What inspires me and how can I share that?”

Creativity is not about intelligence or information. It’s about inspiration, from the Latin spiritus, meaning “breath, courage, the soul.

Creativity is about being fully alive, living courageously, or as the painter Joan Miro´ says, Expressing with precision all the gold sparks the soul gives off. We inspire each other when we dare to create. We open others hearts. We unlock their doors so their spirits can soar. And this is why it matters: because the path through the dark forest can be lit by our work. Others can find their courage in the creations we conjure. Our stories can help people see

these times in a new way, understand that this chaos is only a local view of the cosmos evolving beautifully.

When we join in as conscious co-creators, we are fulfilling our nature, midwifing the new even as we are made anew. We are looking at the tipping point our planet is facing and nudging it toward life. We are saying YES to the future, YES to our grandchildren, YES to the creatures that share this land. And that affirmation of life is what brings us life, that we may have it more abundantly. Dualities are giving way to the singular. Polarities are dissolving into unity. Earth is giving birth to a species that celebrates its oneness with All That Is. Yes, we are evolving and the light is on its way!

Kundalini Rising

An electric convergence of yoga, live music and community.

Kundalini - Goddess, Great Mother, Great Lover, all names of the Divine and often elusive female energy that is present in all of us. Waiting in stillness at the base of the spine to be awakened, to guide us to union with the universal Self, the Self that when

recognized, is everything. It is pure, it is love, it is light. It is the culmination of all our trials and tribulations, which inspired us to seek her out in the first place. On January 12th, 2013, The Art of Living Institute in Los Angeles will host a Kundalini Yoga and Sacred Chant benefit for Yogi Bhajan’s Miri Piri Academy, promising a powerful and transformational start for the new year! The Siri Singh Sahib, more commonly known as Yogi Bhajan (August 26, 1929–October 6, 2004) was a beloved spiritual teacher who introduced Kundalini Yoga to the United States. Kundalini Yoga is considered the most comprehensive of yoga traditions, combining meditation, mantra, physical exercises and breathing techniques. Recognizing the debilitating effects that much of the 60’s drug culture was having on individuals, particularly the youth, Yogi Bhajan first gained popularity in the U.S. when he created the Healthy, Happy & Holy Organization, or 3HO (www.3HO.org) in 1969 as an alternative, more permanent, way of reaching states of peaceful, inner euphoria than that achieved through the quick fix of drugs. His work through 3HO served to spread his message that every human possessed the birthright to be healthy, happy and holy, and by 1972, there were over 100 3HO ashrams throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Israel. Yogi Bhajan left this world in October of 2004 with a distinguished reputation

as a man of peace, world-vision, wisdom, and compassion. He authored and published more than 30 books on topics ranging from spirituality and consciousness to communication and psychology. Throughout his life Yogi Bhajan was passionate and influential with inter-faith work, nuclear disarmament, Sikh rights and unity, healing arts and the foundation of Miri Piri Academy (www.miripiriacademy.org), an international school in India for children from 3rd to 12th grade. Serving students from all over the world, Miri Piri Academy combines a rigorous Cambridge curriculum with daily spiritual and yogic practice. Based upon the teachings of its founder, the school’s program and curriculum are designed to prepare students for the physical, mental, and spiritual challenges of life with a solid academic foundation and a unique opportunity for the practice and mastery of Kundalini Yoga and meditation. The school strives to be accessible to all who wish to learn, providing Financial Aid to nearly 70% of its students. The January 12 benefit for Miri Piri Academy, titled “Kundalini Rising: An electric convergence of yoga, live music and community” features a who’s who of Kundalini teachers and musicians, including Snatam Kaur, Gurmukh, Guru Singh, Guru Prem Singh, Leonardo Har Prakash, Nirinjan Kaur, Jai-Jagdeesh and more, and runs 12 hours from 10:30am-10:30pm for an all day pass or come for Snatam Kaur’s concert at 7:00pm. Snatam Kaur was introduced to music and spiritual practice at an early age. Schooled in kirtan, meditation, and Gurmukhi, the Sanskrit-based language of Sikh scriptures from Northern India, the young Snatam Kaur began to develop the devotion and skills that have grown and blossomed

into a compelling, profound talent. Snatam Kaur personifies the meaning of her name: universal, nucleus, and friend to all. These themes have expressed themselves in a variety of ways throughout her life, and are particularly present

in her music. Snatam Kaur is one of the most popular New Age artists of our time, selling over 70,000 albums a year. Her albums have topped New Age Retailer’s Top 20 lists every year since 2004. Gurmukh is the co-founder and co-director of Golden Bridge Nite Moon, Los Angeles’ and New York City’s premier center for the study and practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation. Since being baptized 42 years ago with the Sikh spiritual name that means “One who helps people across the world ocean,” Gurmukh has dedicated her life to fulfilling her namesake. For more than four decades, students in Los Angeles and from around the world have sought out her classes in Kundalini Yoga, Meditation, and Pre- and Post-Natal care. Dr. Guru Singh DD, MSS is a yogi and teacher, a musician, composer, and author; he is a Minister of Sikh Dharma with a Doctoral of Divinity, but most importantly — to him — he is a family man and human being. With a base in Los Angeles, Seattle, and India, Guru Singh teaches throughout the world with his wife Guruperkarma Kaur. Guru Prem Singh Khalsa is a Yoga Teacher and has been teaching Kundalini Yoga for over 25 years. He is certified by the Kundalini Research Institute as a Trainer of Teachers of Kundalini Yoga. Guru Prem and his wife Simran travel throughout the world teaching the principles of Divine Alignment to students of all types of Yoga. He has had a Yoga therapy/therapeutic massage practice for 25 years at the Khalsa Medical Clinic in Beverly Hills, CA. These accomplished musicians and teachers will be joined by Miri Piri Academy alumni who have become accomplished dancers and musicians

in their own right. Jai-Jagdeesh’s journey as a dancer and singer began over 20 years ago, in India, and the sound current was nurtured while at school in Amritsar. She has traveled the world singing and performing classical Indian dance. Leonardo Har Prakash was born in San Luis Potosí, México. Different guitar teachers introduced him to music, but it wasn’t until he attended Miri Piri Academy that he discovered sitar, which became his main instrument. He has performed in México, United States, Russia, France and Germany, collaborating with musicians of many genres. Nirinjan Kaur grew up with sacred music and Naad Yoga as a natural part of her life. This was developed in study with classical Indian Master Ustaad Narinder Singh Sandhu in India. Her deep understanding of the Shabd Guru, and the sacred Naad is reflected powerfully in her voice and her rendition of these ancient sacred mantras. With such a devoted lineup of practitioners in Yogi Bhajan’s lineage, Kundalini Rising promises to be a very powerful and transformational event for all in attendance. Whether you’re a long time practitioner of Kundalini Yoga or are just learning about it now for the first time, Kundalini Rising offers something for everyone, including beautifully sacred music, insightful talks, delicious food and much, much more, with all proceeds going to support the children at Miri Piri Academy.

The Shift Toward Global Transformation Through LoveA Conversation with Barbara Marx Hubbard and Stephen Dinan

by Sydney L. Murray

Many people will gather in spiritual communities both ancient and modern on December 21, as the end of the Mayan Calendar is both celebrated and sometimes feared. This day is an opening to a new way of living and being. It is not the end,

but a pivotal moment that will celebrate all of the work each one of us has done to transform the world.

As we celebrate the theme this month of Conscious Community, I am so amazed to see the many who will gather together from Chichen Itza, to Cancun to cruises down the Mexican Riviera. It has almost reached a fever pitch in the spiritual world, as hordes of seekers will flock to Mexico to be part of this historic day.

There is another type of gathering that was conceived by Stephan Dinan, founder of The Shift Network and Barbara Marx Hubbard, who created the Foundation for Conscious Evolution.

What is extraordinary is that they envision 100 million people uniting around the world to honor the birth of a new era for humanity—an historic day of global unity, love and celebration.

They ask that anyone who is interested pledge their commitment to taking part in the “Three Days of Love” from December 20 - 22. During these three days, they invite everyone to vow to make every word and action one of kindness, friendship, and generosity—to help prepare the “field” for the new era now being born.

I had the honor and pleasure of speaking with this dynamic duo recently.

Vision Magazine: So how did you two come together? Barbara Marx Hubbard: It was like it was written in the stars. I met

Stephen, I believe when he was at Noetics when we were doing partnership work. Is that right?

Stephen Dinan: Yes, when I was at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, we recognized that there was a great need for many of the key nonprofits and the consciousness community to work effectively together. Then we created a partner shift alliance that would be bringing all of these nonprofits together. We invited Barbara and we just immediately had a deep love for each other. She was kind of like our godmother figure for the group.

BMH: So Stephen and I have been in some way working toward the same goal of the shift through partnership and love, but certainly coming together on The Shift Network was a culmination of that into a new and unexpectedly great phase.

VM: Where did the idea of the “Three Days of Love” come from?BMH: Well I’ll tell you where it came from—in my heart was where

I realized [something] in the deepest sense. Look at the billions of years of evolution. Nature herself has been in a labor of love to create species that are ever more conscious. I saw that together with Stephen, that I had three days of special events starting on the 20th in Byron Bay, Australia, through the 21st being the day of the end of the Mayan calendar, and the 22nd being day one of the new era we have identified. So this is the labor of love. It came out of the actual context of what’s happening. As I started thinking about it, and talking to others, we realized the key to the shift is love.

There’s creativity and connectivity, cooperation and peace, but all that somehow comes from this heartfelt love. So the idea that we could generate the experience of love from hundreds of millions of people could itself affect the consciousness of the Earth. And [it is] therefore much more important than I think I realized at first.

Stephen Dinan: So we’ve really been working with this: How do we create a condition where people can have an experience of collective unity, a collective family that is really going to help us shift us out of the patterns of separation, antagonism, and polarization? The idea is that all these things are building together towards a crescendo. And it’s not just

us—I just got an email from somebody doing a big project for Dec. 20th to activate people around the world for arts and creativity. So it’s part of the audience of the power of love. All these events happening Dec. 21st include many different spiritual communities and traditions gathering together. The Brahma Kumaris are now going to be engaged with us, Unity is engaged with us, and The Oneness University is gathering 100,000 people. A lot of different spiritual lineages are all recognizing that this is a moment in time when we can create this collective unity that really hasn’t been experienced in all these different circles.

The “Three Days of Love” just gives a context: how can an individual engage in this if they’re not a mediators or advanced practitioners of some discipline? Just to create this feeling of love and appreciation—that in and of itself will shift the field of planet Earth. As we add in the synchronized meditation—synchronized global activity and the broadcast—it’s already building a much more coherent, connected, resonant feeling.

BMH: I’d like to add one more thing: While it’s very popular and people can do it any way that works, it’s also attracting some of the highest mediators and what we call “Frequency Holders,” to have a coordinated love experience for three days that would be so potent, it would be something more than just doing separated acts of love. It’s when you know you’re part of something. I began to feel it myself, that I’m being held in a field of love. We want to generate a field that has coherence during the three days, and beyond of course.

VM: To create this field of love, we love ourselves or the people in our lives, but how can we go beyond these three days, so it’s not just going to be about ourselves and our lives?

BMH: First of all, people can start with their own commitment. They can tell their friends, put it on Facebook or tweet it, and send it out to people who have networks, asking them to send it out too. So they start to build a field of connection.

They say there is only six degrees of separation from anyone. My sister said [it’s] six degrees of connection from anyone. In other words, if a certain number of us decided we were going to connect with everyone and it went viral, we could have a wave of love throughout the whole planet. And because our heart is yearning to get over the violence and separation in so many ways, my intuition is that this might be the thing that would catalyze us to do something deeply in our hearts, so that the first birth of the new

era is birthed in love. You take those first two words together, love and birth, and that’s what I think we’re bringing together as a very deep poetic reality around the time of Christmas, which for the Christian world is the birth of the Christ child. I’m calling

it the birth of the Cosmic child. Humanity is a very young planetary culture—very infantile in terms of a cooperative world. But that’s what we’re generating here.

VM: I know for both of you that your work is based in online communication. How do you feel the Internet has changed your work and your life?

SD: What it’s done is allow us to begin to feel and actualize that next level of interconnectedness. It’s true that on the highest spiritual level of all our being, we are all connected—psychically and in consciousness—to people all across the world. Until the Internet, we couldn’t really feel and experience that on a human level very effectively. Now we can feel and experience that when we do a webcast with 140 countries participating at the same time. So we can feel that there is a weaving together of the world in a more organic, grassroots way than when you just have broadcast media, which essentially trains people in a kind of servitude—just receiving messages and taking orders from the media, verses being generative in your own media source and your own broadcast point so you can connect across the world. The technology supports our aligning with the deeper, spiritual truth.

BMH: I think that’s true from my own personal experience of teaching on the Internet and talking to my students all over the world. By now I have about 4,000 just from the Agents of Conscious Evolution Training. I say hello and we’re all here. We’re every ‘here’, and the ‘every-here-ness’ of the knowledge sphere or the thinking layer of Earth, when you speak into it, has another dimension [beyond] broadcast or personal/conventional communication where people are in a room with you, because it actually is not local. And there is a lot of understanding in quantum physics that the basic substrate of reality is non-local and yet when we connect non-locally with shared intent, it could be that the nervous system of the planet itself is being infused. Deepak [Chopra’s] phrase was, “We’re rewiring the global brain.” But one of the things that motivated Stephen and me with the “Three Days of Love” was, let’s rewire the global brain with love. How much love does it take to rewire that nervous system? We don’t even know, but we’re going to give it a try.

VM: When I was in India, they talked about the web of life and this one Guru said that the Internet is the web of life. It’s given us this connection.

BMH: Yes, and I would say the greatest social innovation of the last ten years is social media, Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin, cell phones—I mean, this is huge. It’s a completely new planetary nervous system for humanity. And this is what I’d really like to point out to people: that we have a new nervous system and that’s not nothing; it’s everything. Without that, you’re not going to have a planetary birthing experience. Without that nervous system, it would not be possible.

VN: Absolutely. So I have to ask Stephen: What was the impetus of The Shift Network?

SD: The original vision came during a camping meditation retreat. About three or four days into it, I opened up to a really profound vision that came in; it was a life changing vision: first of a media/Internet company, and then

Page 26: Vision Magazine December 2013

connecting hubs all over the world that were centers for this new awakening rippling out a healthy, sustainable, and peaceful way of life. It would be much more sacred and in attunement with a kind of next level of human society.

We’ve still only built 33 to 34 percent of what that original vision was. It was really clear to me that it was important for the world that this web, this network of awakening communities would form and I was tasked with bringing that in. At the time I didn’t have any background in business or media. I didn’t really have the network of people to do it, but I said, Okay, alright, I’ ll go for it. So I left the meditation retreat and started a business plan and a company.

The first few rounds didn’t work out and went broke. I was pretty discouraged about that, but trusted the longer-term vision. I ended up backing into the Institute of Noetic Sciences and getting to build out some of the vision under the nonprofit banner, ultimately needing to back out of that as well after the board no longer wanted to go in that bigger vision direction. Then I started things from scratch. It took ten years between the original vision and actually starting The Shift Network as a new company again. Now in its third generation, it’s grown quite quickly. But it was ten years of building the skills and capacity to bring it in.

VM: My next question is for Barbara. We’re going into 2013 which you’ve always called the “New Era,” and the “New Human.” What would you describe the New Human to be?

BMH: I’m calling it the Universal Human. This human seems to be connected to the heart, to the whole of life. They are connected to Earth life, to animals, to each other and to Spirit. This type of human seems to be motivated within by a spiritual impulse, not only of connectivity, but also of creativity and expressing life purpose. When you get to be this kind of human, this life purpose can take you over and it becomes as great as the desire to procreate and have a baby; this is the desire to co-create. It’s joining your creativity and genius with others to give birth to a greater self and a greater world.

So the energy of the universe of this human also seems to have an innate sense of optimism, a sense of eventuality, and a sense of emergence. Where somebody of exactly the same degree of intelligence and education can look at the world and see everything declining, the Universal Human sees everything emerging. Now both are true. But the importance of seeing the emerging instead of the declining is that the declining view will lead to disappointment and be disturbed in many ways.

The Universal Human has an innate sense of creativity. This life force has a regenerative quality; it has no age limits. The more you know it, the newer it gets. So I think this is the greatest impulse for health, for regeneration, for, I would say, shifting your attitude from fear to love, particularly when you’re over 80 [laughing].

And the women who are involved in this—it’s the largest percentage of women over 50. We used to be dying young or had huge families to take care of. Now women over 50 are young women. As we get more activated by our vitality, it has a spiritual quality.

Another thing about the feminine co-creator, as I call it, when you fall in love with that creative impulse, is the feeling of unconditional love, just like you feel for the unborn child that you’re willing to give birth to. It’s the feeling of unconditional love for the world, even though it’s a mess. That’s the feeling of the hopeful. It’s a greatness to have a partnership between a co-creative man and co-creative woman. It’s such a blessing, we’re heading upon this new Human; it’s actually a type. Mother Nature created bacteria, single cells, animals, humans, avatars, and now a crop of co-creators.

VM: Our theme this month is Conscious Community. How would you define that?

SD: I would say Conscious Community is founded on a commitment that is higher than just sensual enjoyment, more connected to our soul purpose. So we’re joining in this community as a way to evolve ourselves and our world to make the highest contribution that we can.

BMH: I’d like to add something to that. Nature takes jumps through greater synergy and coming together as a whole is greater than the sum of its parts. That is for billions of years how we got from greater disorder to higher order. Now we’re at a time of disorder in our social system. We have Chaos Point, as Ervin Laszlo calls it.

So in order to get to the higher level—the level of community—I think we need to develop social synergy. As we move toward 2012 after the birth, we need to develop co-creative energies so we have our own pods and spiritual practices. Then we reach out into sectors of the wheel, or as I call it, Health, Transportation, Economics, right where we are and [with] what is working. Then we see if our resources can seek common goals and connect to other hubs. As we reach out to other pods, it becomes a seeding of social cooperation: the synergy of our culture and our global culture. So I am going to be doing my best to move our planetary culture towards co-creation, cooperation, synergy, and transformation.

VM: Therefore the Agape event is a physical representation of that global culture with all of the countries involved and the opportunity to unite communities from around the world.

SD: We are going to provide a really high quality, professional global web cast featuring events from around the world—literally from dozens of major locations and potentially hundreds of smaller ones. There are events from Australia to Thailand, India, Israel, Brazil, and Canada, as well as all of the United States and a bunch in Mexico. There are a lot of different places marking and celebrating this moment. We are going to be providing something that looks like the Olympics and switching to

different venues. Interviews will be

happening and at Agape’s sanctuary, we will be having musical acts and the things that we will weave into the global broadcast. Then we will shut that down for the four hours of the main stage program [at Agape] on Saturday between 11:30 and 3:30 PST, which is really is going to be the moment we are going to mark globally as the birth of this new era. The new moment is the birthing moment.

We are going to work on getting people around the world to be in prayer and meditation, a reverential state, which will create that moment, that heightened sense of love around the world. We are inviting many celebrities who will then complement the speakers we have like Jack Canfield, Neale Donald Walsch, Michael Beckwith, Oscar Miro-Quesada is coming from Peru, as well as Lisa Nichols from The Secret. Barbara will kind of give the first blessing for the newborn baby of the world. It will be fascinating to see what will happen as we bless the new baby.

BMH: I would like all of the participants to realize that whatever they are doing, they are contributing to a deepening of the love, of the birth of the new humanity. And to know we are in a common purpose, and no matter how different everybody is, they are giving a unique contribution that transcends anyone. I have a feeling we can generate one of the greatest experiences in human history.

VM: I can see it as a wave of love going around the world. BMH: I remember reading a [book by] Peter Russell called Waking Up In

Time and I had the image at the time of a nuclear holocaust. And he thought it would be white light; instead of the terrible event of a nuclear explosion, it would be the white light of consciousness. What the mystics have seen all along is the deeper white light. So here is a really mystical opportunity that sharing consciousness will set up a light in which the Earth itself will light up for us. Will the planet Earth glow? Maybe we will show up in the universe like a living organism rather than a fighting infantile species. So instead of saying it’s incredible, I am saying it is credible, normal, and natural.

VM When you look to the future what do you see?SD: I fundamentally believe that we are marking the moment of a whole

new era being born and I believe that we are going to create what I can best call Heaven on Earth.

In the coming decades, we are going to make a profound shift away from war and the kind of violence, degradation and slavery that we havn’t seen in this era. We are going to come into balance—masculine and feminine of the planet. We are going to make a profound shift toward living more sustainably and really be able to design our world in a way that works for more people. I see it as opening the doorway through the unified experience to much deeper systemic changes in the coming decades. And this is going to be marked as a turning point for humanity, in that we have matured into the next level of our future. I really believe that this is the divine plan. We are all just playing it out right now.

BMH: I would like to add something from an evolutionary point of view. If you look at the early humans—Homo habilis, Homo erectus, Homo neandrathalensis, Homo sapiens and Homo sapiens sapiens—there was a time about 50,000 years ago that was the advent of self-consciousness,

when we shifted from early humans to self-reflective humans. I think we are living through a period comparable to that [period] where self-conscious humans, millions of us, are merging into what you might call Whole System Consciousness or Whole Person Consciousness, an evolutionary consciousness.

We don’t have a name for it, which is probably just as well, but it has been called transformational and evolutionary. My own view is that Mother Earth is giving birth to a new species of humans. I think if we get through this crisis and add our scientific technological nanotech, biotech and zero point energy, we can see that we are becoming a universal species.

This is a real birth that requires all of the things that Stephen is saying, but it is more than the restoring of peace and harmony on the planet Earth; it is like the newborn baby.

Every time I am about to get a little irritated by somebody or by myself, then I suddenly say, What would love do? And I put love in so fast that it’s kind of like an exaggerated Heart Math lesson for my nervous system. Because I am doing this with others and that we are doing it for the whole planet, I have totally found a shift in my own nervous system reactions.

The shift is when I feel stress and just one flick of the attention to love, I feel harmony, peace, and even joy. The more I do that, the more it is a sustainable sense of inner harmony and joy such that you are less likely to get irritated at each one of the choices you make. When I ask, What would love do, I go to a higher octave. Whatever I am doing is coming from love—that gesture has affected my nervous system.

So the campaign for “Three Days of Love” will be engendering ever greater fields so that when we get there, to those birth days, it will be something that is easier for everyone to do.

SD: Love is the reconnection with the divine, which is who we are. Our nature is love. As we remember divinity and allow that to come in, we have a picture of a world that works. That is ultimately the deeper plan, as we are all part of a larger entity. There is no reason for us to be in conflict with each other.

BMH: And it is surprising that in humanity, we have had this illusion of separateness from Nature, or Spirit. I have always felt that it is a nervous system problem. So when we start to spread empathy through social media and the whole non-local nervous systems, it could be that more and more, we shift that nervous system tendency to feel separate, irritated or afraid. This has been very deep in the human psyche because every culture gets dominated. It is a very deep cultural shift.

As in every great religion: Love your neighbor as yourself. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. In all of the mystic traditions is love. But we weren’t quite ready as a species, obviously, even though all of the monks, imams and priests were practicing it. But now it is not coming from religions; it’s coming from the human heart that is yearning to experience this.

HOW TO MOVE BEYOND SUFFERING

TERRY L. NEWBEGIN, channeller, author, and a teacher of New Energy Consciousness has released his third book, “Unlocking The Consciousness of Your Soul.” It is a book that reveals all the whys of you choosing sin, physicality, forgetfulness, and suffering as the means to remember who you truly are. It is a story about where you began eons ago, who you think you are because of your intellect, and how you were lied to, brain-washed, and led astray by those that were closes to you. It is a book that unravels the mystery behind God and your suffering. When you live and make decisions from the mind of reason, your intellect, and from what the experts declare what is best for you, your soul cannot bring forth the wisdom that you hold deep within your consciousness. Thus you become disposed to turbulent experiences. If you are looking for healing, how to cre-ate miracles, how to overcome distress, anger, being penniless, or whatever suffer-ing you are experiencing right now, then it becomes important to understand “who you truly are, where you truly come from, and how your soul participates in what you receive in life.Email [email protected] or visit his website http://www.terrynewbegin.com if you are looking for consultation or having a group workshop to help you open up to New Ex-pansional Energy, bringing to you, wealth, health, and joy.

Opportunities to Choose Loveby Devin Grace, MA

What some people may view as a lesson is actually an op-portunity to choose love. When we apply this perspec-tive, there is a softening that happens deep within; a whisper that says, “You are not being tested right now;

you are being given the opportunity to choose love in this moment.” We are given countless opportunities to choose love every day. We don’t always make that choice and that’s okay because that same opportuni-ty will show up with our next lover, our next job, or our next interaction. If we choose love in the places we are in now, new opportunities arise. So why not choose love in the experiences you presently find yourself? Most of us believe that a new relationship, a new city, or a new job will help us avoid our lessons. Instead, why not work with what we’ve got right in front of us? Our only work is to choose love. What many of us don’t realize is that we actually chose every one of these opportunities before we even came into these bodies—not to torture ourselves,

but to help awaken to the true reality of who we are. A great way to view op-portunities is to see them as a treasure map that will lead us to the memory of ourselves as one with God and the Love That Is. There is nothing that we can do to separate from that Oneness, but there are things that we can do which bring us closer to the memory of it. When we are given an opportunity to choose love instead of fear and we choose the path of love, there is something that sparks within, softly guiding us to remember the love we are because we are the love that we give. When we are given an opportunity and we choose fear, anger, or hatred, there is something inside us that says, “Hmmm, this doesn’t feel so good.” Another voice then whispers, “This is not who you are; it is how you are choosing to show up—but it is not who you are.” At that point, we can be gentle with ourselves and see that we made a mistake. The beauty about mistakes is that they can be corrected. When we feel some-thing other than love in our hearts, it is simply that we have made a mistake, and in that moment we can tell ourselves, “It’s okay; I made a mistake. I forgive my-

Every year I can’t wait to get the We’Moon calendars. Nestled amongst the beautiful pages is fascinating history and useful planetary change information. This one desktop calendar is more than that; it is

a treasure trove of “womyn” and the sisterhood celebrating Gaia rhythms. It is the perfect gift for those people in your life that are interested in more than basic astrology. And it’s always fun to see how accurate it can be. You can find an annual astro portrait as well as the Holy Days for all of the equinoxes and solstices, or the chapter that discusses How the Galactic “Synaptic” Links us anew.

Woven amongst all of this information are the most exquisite art and poetry by womyn who are devoted to the ancient rhythms of Gaia and the beauty and complexity of our lives. All aspects of life and living are examined by the contributors who offer up their amazing art, poetry and teachings from all over the world.

This year the calendar is entitled The Other Side. This could be interpreted

as the other side of life, which is death. It may be seeing the other side to a situation or problem, or perhaps seeing the other sides of yourself in the mystery of who you are.

With our theme of Conscious Community, it is so wonderful to learn more about what these womyn have created. With a history of over 30 years, We’Moon Gaia Rhythms for Womyn started in France as a handwritten booklet that was distributed in five languages. This calendar can be an extraordinary guide through the realms of

transformation from personal to planetary. To further establish their commitment

to gathering of womyn, We’Moon Land is the oldest womyn’s land community in Oregon founded in 1973. In fact, they are set to celebrate 40 years! We’Moon Land is also the home of three long time friends and is open to their community, which gathers to celebrate the feminine. We’Moon Land has many exciting new developments, such as an intergenerational place to nest and expand as well as a sanctuary from the world based upon sustainable practices.

We’Moon represents so strongly the aspects of conscious community we are talking about in this issue. Every year the womyn of We’Moon come from all over the world and are held together by their sisterhood, love of art, poetry and dialogue.

Produced by Mother Tongue Ink, this astrological calendar and datebook, and daily guide to womyn is the perfect holiday gift. wemoon.ws - SLM

I took three deep breaths and opened the door with my bronze skeleton key. I removed my shoes, rolled up my pant legs and dipped my bare feet into a wide bucket filled with a bleach and water solution. Everything in The Palace—a high-ceilinged, multi-roomed laboratory with white walls and pillars—was kept disinfected and sterile, and the bodies that went in there had to match. Inside was a full operation and harvest of Psilocybe tampanensis—Philosopher’s Stone mushrooms, affectionately known as truffles, due to their shape and the warm chocolate-like rush the user experiences upon ingesting them. Truffles, in their natural environment, actually grow under mushrooms. This technically declassifies them from the “mushroom” category so that they can be purchased legally.

Tony was in his lab. My partner was a 40-something, long haired heavy metal/Deadhead businessman from Michigan, and he was dressed in a white lab coat. Sitting in a swivel chair, he was mixing a solution of distilled water and mushroom spores.

“Hey, I’m here!” I yelled out to him from the dark hallway which was stapled wall-to-wall with black garbage bags.

“Good, good,” he said, in a tone that implied, “Good morning, now get to work.”

This day was no different from other days.

Part II woke up early, needing no alarm.Very quickly my body morphed from what felt like a state of deep sleep into

an ultra-alert state of awareness. Less than ten minutes later I was on my bike, riding to work along Amsterdam’s misty canals—those shimmery expanses of water that make everything feel like a dream. I’m so glad to be alive, I whispered to myself with a smile.

At Leidseplein, a magnificent ceremony of sunrays burst through the sky and I was imbued with another rush of energy. Riding faster, my breath could be seen from afar. From someone else’s perspective, it appeared as if I myself was evaporating into the air.

My hair was shoulder length—dark brown, untamed and wild—and my skin was a pale winter tone. My eyes, a green sea foam. At this time in my young life, I had abandoned traditional responsibilities and was living my highest destiny.

I arrived to The Palace coated in perspiration. After locking my bike,

In the hugest room—the one decorated by an ornate ceiling of Baroque architecture—six pressure cookers were set up on two rows of long tables.

My workspace was in the middle. After garbing up in a sterile blue

frock and disinfecting my hands, my work began. At 7 a.m. sharp, I became a mad laboratory woman, focusing with great deftness and skill so as not to cause an explosion.

This part of my day was like a time bomb.

I measured out one cup of uncooked, short-grain brown rice (which the truffles would later grow in) into small, hospital-grade plastic bags, added water, and put a plastic cork ring on them, corking them shut.

When I had 60 bags, I placed ten in each pressure cooker and sealed them shut. With extreme caution, I ignited each one of those little devils and began to monitor, walking amongst them like a lioness whose smooth and intense prowl would install a sense of order almost anywhere.

The stress level in working with multiple pressure cookers can be inconceivable. The advantage to using them is that steam pressure can cook and sterilize things rapidly. But what’s daunting is that you have to make sure that the pressure on each machine doesn’t rise in even the tiniest increment so that they don’t explode. Even walking next to one can be discouraging. You have to do so in an exaggeratedly slow motion to avoid a rise in pressure.

Although I tried to embody that powerful animal spirit to be intimidating; on the contrary, once animated and pressurized, the highly combustible little beasts would come alive and start to whine and hiss at me.

Stop, I’d implore, clipboard in hand, trying to convince each one to help me lessen the potential risk for disaster. We needed to unify for a common goal.

But they would only proceed to taunt me with their high-pitched, malevolent shrieking howls—their wicked little laughter. They said they had no interest in safety. On the back of each machine it says that no more than two pressure cookers should be going at once. I knew what I was doing was potentially dangerous, but if I couldn’t do the job, Tony would have found someone else do it. I needed the work, but also, I grew to perceive these little fiends as challenges that I had to conquer.

The rice was ready, and I was still alive.By this point, the entire Palace was infused with steam and the nutty scent of

warm brown rice. When the bags were cool, I took them to Tony’s lab and left

him alone to work. This was the inoculation process. Tony would uncork each bag, and using a syringe, inject the distilled-water-and-spores-solution into the cooked rice.

I went to relax for a bit on the couch and ate a sandwich, then I opened to a passage in an Alan Watts book that read, “[In Western society] a ‘drugged’ person is by definition dimmed in consciousness, fogged in judg-ment, and deprived of will. But not all psycho-tropic (consciousness-changing) chemicals are narcotic and soporific, as are alcohol, opiates, and barbiturates. The effects of what are now called psychedelic (mind-manifesting) chemi-cals differ from those of alcohol as laughter

differs from rage, or delight from depression.” This man’s insight inspired me greatly. My break was never long enough. Tony had finished the bags and returned

them to me. Now, I must prepare you for the next phase in the journey. If you are religious and unfettering in your obedience to “law,” I urge you to distance yourself momentarily from judgment. Please allow any traditional, preconceived ideas stemming from religious values to slowly…dissolve. To quote Alan Watts, the way one internalizes Part II of this story will “depend considerably on one’s own prior orientation and attitude to life.”

Read with an open mind, because it’s just beyond the attic door that the magic begins.

Our Birth StoryBy Mikki Willis

My wife Nadia and I had been together for 8 years and married for 1 when we agreed it was time to birth a little human into our world. We hired a legendary midwife. Though I wouldn’t call myself a religious man, her name gave me comfort…

Mary. We explored every technique and decided on a water birth. The pool was placed in the center of our mediation room to ensure the purest of energy. We attended classes facilitated by renowned experts. We did deep inner work to heal our own storiesof birth and childhood to clear the way for our little one. One hundred and fifty of our closest friends and family attended what was arguably the most epic baby blessing ever. We were as ready as any new

parents could be. Nadia went into labor July 25th,

though we made certain not to refer to it as labor, nor did we use the word contractions. We had been instructed to use more posi-tive words like “birthing time” and “pressure waves.” After 18 intense hours of hard pushing it was clear; something was wrong. I began to pray. In my own laymen’s way, I did my best to evoke the name of every deity I could recall - Bud-dha, Krishna, Allah, Christ, errr, ummm Ganesh! Remover of Ob-stacles, Ganesh! Help us! Someone, anyone, please help us!

I held Nadia in the backseat as our pal Laura navigated the mountain roads towards Plan B. Finally at the Hospital, Nadia pushed until her little body couldn’t push any more. Baby’s heartbeat was declining. Our Pediatrician Dr. Solinas suggested an emergency C Section. The concern in her eyes and voice made the decision easy. They took Nadia away, then escorted me to a room where I dressed in a blue gown, mask and hairnet, then scrubbed up. It was the quietest room in all of Santa Paula. Though the clock was silent,

I suddenly flashed back to September 11th 2001.

redefined lifestyle (“I know--I can sell a kidney on the black market to pay for an editor!”). Bargaining rarely provides a viable solution, especially in situations in which the writer is ghostwriting their own autobiography;

Stage 4/Depression: During this phase, the reader begins to understand that death isn’t the worst thing in the world. The reader may become extremely qui-et, isolated, and spontaneously break into paroxysms of tears when walking by random newspaper stands or magazine racks; and,

Stage 5/Acceptance: In this phase, the reader understands that resistance is futile, and that the materials in question must be addressed. Signs that the read-er has entered this phase include the purchase of used reading glasses so ugly they physically repel anyone who encounters them while being worn.

But whatever the value posed by this model, the best remedy may be one you’ve not yet considered--threaten to become a writer yourself. And if you think you have nothing to write about, consider the power shift in that moment when you drop your writing on top of theirs.

and history of the lost continent of Atlantis is buried in the Sphinx and would be discovered in the late 1990’s.

Some scientists have used ground penetrating radar and it has shown there are cavities underneath the Sphinx. There have also been secret explorations and other discoveries indicating that same information.

Can you imagine what it would feel like to stand near the Sphinx and experi-ence true ancient knowledge? This is a quest guidance seems to be directing me to do in September 2013.

Dreams About This KnowledgeA series of dreams about Egypt and a spiritual messenger who physically con-

tacted me seem to be leading me now on a quest to Egypt. She taught me how to recognize guidance. The series of events that have happened as she once predicted seems to indicate I am being guided to Egypt.

A dream in the late 1980’s, not too long after I had acquired a small crystal skull artifact, put me inside the Sphinx. During the dream, a voice directed me to a symbol inside the Sphinx and I was given further instructions on what I was supposed to do. According to the voice in my dream, this symbol is a key to begin a process inside the Sphinx towards the hidden information. I didn’t believe the information at the time. However, I did draw the symbol and wrote down the instructions.

In 1991 an unusual spiritual messenger contacted me under strange circum-stances. For five years she guided and prepared me until she determined I under-stood and accepted what a higher power wanted me to do. This direction would come at some time in the future when the correct conditions had been met. She told me one of the things I would have to do is go to Egypt and look for a symbol inside the Sphinx. However, I could only do that when I was directed it was the right time. Again, information about a symbol inside the Sphinx had been given to me.

In 1999 I had the opportunity to look inside a very large crystal skull and was asked for my opinion of an image inside the crystal. I discovered it was the exact same symbol I had seen in my dream 10 or more years ago.

In 2010 I met a well-known Egyptologist while speaking at a crystal skull event sponsored by Oracle Stone Productions. That chance meeting immediately

brought to mind the dreams, visions and words of the messenger. I knew the time for what she had told me was nearing.

In late 2011 I had another dream of the Sphinx and Egypt. This time I was leading a group of people in Egypt. Two months later, a tour organizer con-tacted me to lead a spiritual tour group to Egypt in September 2013. The best way to develop spirituality is to follow the ancient path of knowledge and be near the Sphinx for a direct experience. That is what I will be doing with the participants who are part of the tour group with me in Egypt.

There is no doubt in me that I am being guided to go to Egypt at this the time. What can happen? No doubt that certain people will be guided to go with me to be a part of this tour experience.

We will walk in the footsteps of the ancients at the various temples, reunite with parts of ourselves, heal, expand consciousness, and absorb the power and strength of the gods and goddesses for spiritual attainment.

Once inside the Sphinx I will look for the symbol and carry out the instructions first told to me twenty-five years ago. Then we will sum-mon the spirits of the gods and goddesses in the Great pyramid for a di-rect experience and message. When done, we will leave Egypt forever changed and with a secret or two more about life following in the foot-steps of the ancient’s path to spiritual knowledge. The Egypt Tour will take place on 15-28 September 2013. For tour info: www.timeofanewera.com.

Part IIAfter my break, I climbed up a ladder carrying the bags into the grow room.

But before going up to that sterilized attic space I had to disrobe completely and wrap myself in a towel and hairnet. Mushrooms can easily become contaminated, and once contaminated, one baggie could infect many. The ingenuity of use of space made a boundless ocean out of a room measuring only five square feet. The bags of truffles were stored on top of clean tin sheets and were spread out on shelves, six layers high. Under the right circumstances, it appeared as if mushrooms were growing out of the walls.

I was surrounded by row upon row of fungi, all of which was developing at different stages. My task was to inspect and massage the bags, and in the process, I’d involuntarily be inhaling psilocybin spores. Although I wasn’t eating the truffles as I worked, the abundant concentration of spores in the air of my enclosed workspace was enough to re-intoxicate me, day after day. (Through my subsequent ingestion of and experimentation with different types of psilocybin mushrooms during this period, they were usually in my system anyway.)

And so would begin the odyssey.I’d first notice that things were shifting when my vision would suddenly sharp-

en significantly. It was as if any damage to my eyes through degeneration was, by magic wand, instantly corrected. At this point I could not only see a minute speck of mold developing on a truffle through the bag, but I could also see phosphores-cent vapors in the air—shimmery strands of mycelium raining down in front of my eyes. Upon metabolizing in my body, the rush of psilocybin felt like a warm euphoric wave drizzling through me. It brought on that feeling of “oneness.” I could feel just how alive the mushrooms were, through this strange radiant en-ergy they were emitting.

Sometimes it would seem as if they were bursting into bizarre impromptu per-formances, which, I realized after, were projections of my own psyche and play-fulness. These little anomalies would skyrocket my consciousness from obscurity. I could also psychosomatically tune in to the immense mushroom layer growing below the earth’s surface, known to be the largest and oldest living organism on the planet.

I had set out to study the effects of psychedelic chemicals on my mind and was eager to learn about the mystical experiences they’ve been said to invoke. Through experimentation, and in accordance with my theory, time and time again I experienced what Alan Watts referred to as “every description of major mystical experiences.”

The peculiarity of psilocybin intoxication felt like living an alien life on another planet, one from which I learned immensely. I felt deep hidden aspects of myself revealed to me. The revelations I had were life changing and I’d descend the attic a naïve child, abandoned of stigmas resulting from a life’s worth of cultural conditioning.

Part IIIMy work was finished for the day.I cleaned up my workspace and changed

into my regular clothes. With the confines of the building now weighing heavy on me (as I was peaking) it was time to leave. My first breath of fresh air upon stepping out of The Palace was always distinct and the most memorable of the day.

There was so much to see on my

ride home; a slew of interesting people dining at restaurants and cafes, a cornucopia of smoke spiraling out from the hash bars, the city’s ubiquitous dollhouse architecture. And let me not forget the enchanted canals—a constant flow of water throughout the center of the city. All these elements added to that dreamy, transportive atmosphere.

So often I’d ride home with my head thrown back, beak open in song. And if I felt like it, I might just stop halfway in Vondelpaark to wrap myself up in a warm blanket and lie under a tree.

It was there that I always felt more like a little creature—one who couldn’t be defined or scientifically classified—than anything remotely socially categorized, or even human. And I’d just laugh at it all…

During this time, the truffles became a vital artery that fed my curiosity about the nature of consciousness and multi-dimensional beings. I could always sense that although half of me was deep rooted here on earth, the other half of me was floating freely through the ether. And I was aware, not clouded. My parents worried about me, yes, just as any parents would. But I felt outside of danger’s reach, as though a guardian angel was always there.

If anything, this period gave way to a renaissance of ideas and projects. The exploration of my mind became a game with infinite possibilities. I was fearless, yet mindful in my approach. I was searching for adventures that would make my life more entertaining and my stories more complex. I know I found that.

One must move into the fire to come out gold.

This story is dedicated to the great guru, Alan Watts, and to all those confident and courageous enough to explore.

Nitric Oxide is created on the internal surface of blood vessels and in the human body there is only one known precursor to Nitric Oxide—an amino acid known as L-arginine. Although L-arginine is common in many food sources, there are numerous scientific studies, including human clinical trials, demonstrating the potential benefit of L-arginine supplementation which is highlighted by the tendency of our bodies to produce less Nitric Oxide as we age, thus leading to increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

How to Silence the Silent KillerToday, it is estimated that nearly half the adult population already has heart

disease or one of its leading indicators (diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol). Unfortunately, nearly half of those who suffer from heart disease will never know in time to do anything about it because their first symptom will be a fatal heart attack. It is no wonder this disease is called the “silent killer.”

A good quality L-arginine supplement can be easily implemented and the product I use and recommend comes with a 100 percent satisfaction guarantee. For many people, it may even help lower blood pressure within 90 days. It is possible to track and validate the results of your L-arginine supplementation with basic lab work that you can obtain at your doctor’s office including triglycerides, cholesterol and blood pressure.

The key is to maximize production of Nitric Oxide on the surface of the blood vessels around the clock. L-arginine does not accommodate that need very well in its pure form because once it enters the blood, it quickly produces some Nitric Oxide and then it is done—it cannot continue to produce it.

However, there is another amino acid known as L-citrulline that recycles L-arginine so it can continue to produce Nitric Oxide over and over again. The product I have found which works so well for me is called ProArgi9 Plus. It is actually an L-arginine Complexer with L-citrulline, producing Nitric Oxide continuously for up to 36 hours per serving. This combination is why this product can produce satisfaction guaranteed results.

I encourage you to consider the wealth of science behind L-arginine and Nitric Oxide. The U.S. National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health has indexed more than 91,000 scientific publications on L-arginine, and more than 101,000 scientific publications on Nitric Oxide. A compelling human clinical trial of ProArgi9 Plus supplementation was conducted by the High Desert Heart Institute under the direction of Dr. Siva Arunasalam, M.D. The study showed remarkable improvement in patients who had advanced chronic conditions and who had exhausted existing known medical options.

Connecting the DotsSimply put, this natural, high quality L-arginine complexer with L-citrulline

is a no-brainer approach to help maintain good cardiovascular health. This combined with changing your drinking water to Ionized Alkaline Water is a simple, well rounded approach to health and longevity.

A person’s individual health status is a product of his or her lifetime with consideration for genetics, diet, stress, exercise, rest, environment, and habits. Consequently, there is usually never a silver bullet that can undo the years and restore health to perfection. But you have a choice: keep doing more of the same, or try something that might offer improvement. It all starts with that first step toward change.

multidimensional reality. The new earth, or Golden Age of Divine Love, is that new reality. To assist us in creating, anchoring, and nourishing the new earth we must establish a firm foundation to support the expansion of our consciousness.

The firm, stable foundation can be envisioned in the form of a chair. The four legs of the chair, on which we position ourselves, anchor us firmly. Each leg of the chair is fully expressed to avoid imbalance. The front right leg represents the full expression, acceptance, and declaration of one’s human divinity. The front left leg represents the full expression, acceptance, and declaration of self-love. The back left leg represents living in the now (no time, no space). The back right leg represents the expanded golden rule—“Do unto all creation as we would have all of creation do unto us.”

Once positioned on this firmly anchored chair, we move our awareness into a now state of being as defined by the acronym S.T.A.R. (surrender, trust, allow, and receive). Empowered with the knowledge of who we are, we then surrender our ego personality to our human divinity, trusting in that wholeness to express what we imagine. Next, we allow our wholeness to expand that dream and we receive with appreciation and gratitude what we, in alignment with the will and love of the divine Creator, manifested.

As each starseed, connected to ascended Gaia, transforms its consciousness to higher frequencies, its manifestation also matches that new vibration. And since intention is energy released into the field of all potential as waves, those waves can intermingle with the correlated thought wave potential of other enlightened starseeds.

This is how we will create the new earth, the Golden Age of Divine Love, after 12/21/12. We will do it together, knowing who we are, where we come from, and why we are on the planet. We will do it with Gaia, and we will do it in the multidimensional field of all potential, surrendering, trusting, allowing, and receiving in alignment with the divine Creator. Together we will collapse the waves of potential into particle form creating, anchoring, and nourishing the new golden age on planet earth.

Vincent “Vinicello”

Domazet

Vincent “Vinicello” Domazet is a visionary artist. His pieces show a thoughtful use of digital photography and a willingness

to explore what he would call mystical experiences to gain new insight and ideas. With a bold colour palette, his work contains myriad subtle details that awaken as your mind opens to each piece.

Already featured in several private collections, Vincent’s work has been shown at several private buying events and large-scale music festivals. Most notably is Shambhala; a music mecca which gathers 12,000 people every August in BC, Canada.

His visionary approach to art first came into play years before, when Vincent was a DJ. When listening to music, images would start forming in his mind, but at the time, he had no way to express these ideas. “Three and a half years ago, a very personal and introspective experience changed something and my talent appeared within a couple weeks of that,” he explains. This was life-changing, leading to his departure from his static business and corporate background.

Working with sheet metal, tile, acrylic, and canvas among many others takes creative visions to new dimensions with which to communicate different feelings and moods. It separates him from a field of fleeting digital dabblers, allowing his work to show alongside more traditional artists to extend his reach to a much broader audience.

“Our Birth Story” continued from page 38

46 VISION MAGAZINE • DECEMBER 2012 • WWW.VISIONMAGAZINE.COM

I could here each second pounding by. “Please help us.”A sharp voice pierced the silence- “where’s the father??” A nurse appeared

in the doorway, “lets go, come on!” We marathon-walked through the sterile maze, finally landing in the most chaotic room in all of Santa Paula. My beloved was belly up, arms stretched out and strapped to the table. Her body was trembling from the medication, her eyes wider than I had ever seen them. My heart sank deeper. I imagined panicked expression behind their blue masks, as doctors and nurses scrambled about. I couldn’t resist peeking over the fabric shield - the belly was stretched open.

Again I prayed, silently imploding… “Why is this happening?? We’re good people! We’ve done everything right! Why are we being punished?!” Please help us!”

“What’s happening?” Nadia asked in staccato, looking more like a child than a woman giving birth to one. The mask veiled my phony smile as I reas-sured her that everything was perfect. It was the first time I had ever lied to her.

The chaos intensified. The bed rocked violently. I could distinguish Dr. Solinas’ voice - she was panicked, demanding her nurses to “push” and “pull.” My body vibrated from trauma. To divert fear, both Nadia’s and my own, I began to tell stories, reminding us of all we’ve been through together and all we’ve overcome. “Remember Peru my love? Remember how we felt when we made it to the top of the Andes?” She half-nodded, also tuned to Doctor Solinas’ panic. “We can do this baby. We’re unstoppable,” I assured her again and again.

The room went quiet. Why did it go quiet? I leaned around the fabric shield to see the pink and purple limbs of my child. They weren’t moving. No crying. Why isn’t he crying? The nurses placed his tiny body on a steel table and began pumping air into his mouth. The machine began to beep, not the type of beep that indicates a heart beat, but one that signals an emergency. Nadia continued to ask questions. I continued to lie. And pray.

A nurse did her best to block my view, while another nurse squeezed and dropped babies limbs in an effort to activate circulation. The machine continued to sound. The masked ones continued to silence it, clearly for our benefit. Still no movement. No crying. The worst was happening. I closed my

eyes and prayed from the depth of my soul:“Please… please… please help us…” Though I had given up my judgments against organized religion years

ago, I was still not completely comfortable using the word God. But I gave it shot:

“God, please help us. Please don’t let my baby die. Please God. Please help us.”

I suddenly flashed back to September 11th 2001. There I was, back on the rubble of the World Trade Center, exhausted after 3 days of digging for survivors. I remembered the life lesson that came through that experi-ence. I closed my eyes even tighter and tried a new prayer:

“Thank you God for this experience, exactly the way it is.” At that exact moment, I heard my son cry for the first time. The male

nurse released his breath as if he’d been holding it the entire time. “That’s what we want to hear!” he blurted, clearly relieved for us. Azai cried harder.

“Is that our son?” Nadia asked. “Yes, my love. That’s our baby.” My eyes flooded. “Is he okay?” she asked. “He’s beautiful. He’s absolutely beautiful my love.”

It’s hard to believe a year has passed since that moment. Azai celebrat-ed his first Birthday today. Words cannot express the depth of love I feel for my son, my teacher, my best friend.

Thank you God for Azai… exactly the way he is. Love Daddy…
