Manage implementation process: • action timelines • logistics • messaging Students grouped by major, area of interest, or demographic. i.e.: Honors, Nursing, Teaching, etc. Faculty teams collaborate to design integrated and interdisciplinary curriculum and planning processes. • Co-curricular &experiential programming WHAT: Students earn 6-8 credits WHERE: A residential living-learning program and activities help students connect with the local region and community. WHEN: A 5-week summer session preceded by a 3-day orientation --June 23- July 30 -- ending with a closing celebration. WHY: WCU strategic plan to increase and enhance summer offerings. Students benefit from the added support and sm aller class size. Summer credits allow flexibility for opportunities such as study-abroad or internships and permit students to still finish in four. ATTENDANCE 228 students (82%) participated in at least one SI session Total visits made to SI Sessions = 947 Student average attendance = 4.2 sessions over the 5 weeks BY POPULATION ASP: 147 students (86%) attended 431 visits GAP: 76 students (99%) attended 516 visits PERSISTENCE Students demonstrated overall behaviors known to contribute to student success: FACULTY SURVEY 100% of faculty respondents were satisfied or strongly satisfied with the SI pro gram components, implementation, and opportunity for inclusion. STUDENT SURVEY 62% of student respondents agree or strongly agree that SI helped them with course content and confidence. 94% of student respondents agree or strong ly agree that writing tutoring im proved knowledge, skills, and confidence. GPA-Retention Summer 2014 Summer 2015 Students who attended SI most often earned higher grades. A foundation upon which students will continue to build and deepen.
