Kitonb (he who flies) is born in the summer of 1998, in a period in which the post industrial theatre had begun its decline and it was necessary a strong renewal with new and fascinated ideas. From these situation come out the idea of the extreme theater, the search of the condition without limits as ideal situation to find a powerful and innovative scenic

force. After the first multimedia and interdisciplinary experiments, the Kitonb’s Company delineates its original stylistic matrix that will distinguish it with time.

Fine arts, mountaineering, theater and music, circus arts and before all dance, are the disciplines that influence and stimulate the artistic creation of the Kitonb’s author and director Angelo Bonello and that bring him to elaborate a particular contortion and multi -visual dimension of the scenic space.

Kitonb’s shows, therefore, “explode” between earth and sky, they develop in great open spaces, where gigantic flying sceneries are maneuvered by a telescopic crane to an height of 80 m…

… the choreographic actions of the dancer-acrobats, the special and multi medial effects, create a three-dimensional show that embrace the audience at 360°.

The KITONB Extreme Theatre Company project became a reality in the summer of 1998 from an idea by Angelo Bonello and Alberta Nunziante. The use of innovative theatrical dynamics (which reach out to interdisciplinary and multimedia experimentation) and the creation of a stable artistic and technical staff (with professionals from different disciplines), gave the go ahead to the first of a long series of extreme theatre shows.

VISION tells the synthesis of the cosmos through the human experience of the Four Elements, a surreal and ethereal journey that represents the fifth essence of our planet.

WATER is the sweetness, the softness of the forms, the sinuosity of the colors… Water is the femininity. FIRE is the strength, the courage, the rebellion, the masculine character of our planet. EARTH is protective, generous, wise, it represents the hope and the abundance… Earth is the maternity. AIR is the lovely and penetrating dream and at the meantime embracing… Air is the oneiric dimension. They are so different the one to the other but, inevitably, they are tied up and amalgamated by a common way, their synthesis, the COSMOGONY.

The COSMOGONY is the myth of the creation that, from the nothing, gives birth to the creation; a myth that influences the attitude of people who lives in the same society which has given them life, even if they often… don't believe in it.

>>WATER>>WATER

From the most remote times the man has recognized in the water the source of the whole life, the principle of all things. In comparison to the other

elements Water is privileged because in its unpredictability it possesses either the calm, the gravity and the abysmal depth of Earth, or the orbital restlessness of Air, or the

mobility of Fire.

>>FIRE>>FIRE

The cult of the fire derives from the spiritual nature of the light. It goes back to the prehistory and its symbolism it is polyvalent. All over the world the fire is adored as eternal image of the Sun, Agni, Life. The Fire is an Universal essence, visible and sensitive - Universal because the energy is the soul of the world that it vivifies; Visible in its third development, the warmth.

>>EARTH>>EARTH

Earth is the element of the whole nature; in its three kingdoms, mineral, vegetable and animal, it is considered by many traditions the most sacred and divine among the elements. Fertile and creative, nourishing and luxuriant, it contains in itself either the most poetic characteristics of the pleasant and maternal womb, that welcomes the life and nourishes it, or those more “practices” of constancy, patience and strength. Earth is at the same time maternal and nourishing, and also practice, concrete, solid and powerful.

>>AIR>>AIR

Air is what embraces and permeates everything, it is the intangible space that unites everything, it is the vital energy called “who” by the Taoists, "prana" by the Hindu and "ether“ by the Westerns. It is the invisible substance which pervades the whole universe and that we absorb from the surrounding environment. Its place is the intermediate and thin World between Sky and Earth.

>>COSMOGONY>>COSMOGONY

Cosmogony… “kosmos”, "universe" and “gonos”, or "to create". Or even more "generation of the universe". Cosmogony is the mythical story, operated by the primordial cultures, on the generation of the universe. The myths on the cosmogony include all of those things that are in the universe, alive or inert materials.

The COSMOGONY implies the union or combination of all the

elements preexisting at the creation and, subsequently, their separation from an indistinct amalgam.

The never-created Cosmos is the representation of a void and an obscurity, a chaos of elements without confinements and without time, which in progression assumes form in a “DANCE”, the deepest and more spectacular.
