Description of School Data Collection
● Observed content teachers PreK-5th grades● Both Reading and Math content areas were
observed● Used the Student Engagement walkthrough
forms● Intervention and core instruction were both
included in the data collection

● High Yield- Students are creating and using manipulatives and graphic organizers. Students are also making choices and engaging in reading.
● Low Yield- Students are engaging in oral turn taking, responses orally and engages in listening,
Professional Development
● Student engagement “Look Fors” PD was was held. Staff participated by clearly defining and discussing each of the indicators of both high yield and low yield behaviors.
● Staff participated in a Walk-About activity with each indicator of Student Engagement included.

● Planned and Implemented Staff Development regarding the following indicators:

● Think Aloud PD presented on March 4th● Guided Reading 3-Day Series presentations
on March 11, 18, and 25th by Title One Coordinator and Reading Coaches
● Series included several strategies for students to engage students in reading and to discuss the text within all stages of reading

● UVA Contract- 2yrs of Reading Support Grades 1st and 3rd
● Walkthroughs conducted on March 17th● 3 ½ days of Professional Development
sessions planned in April/May for Grades 1st and 3rd focusing on the three indicators as noted as areas of focus. (3,5,9)

● Low Yield- Engages in oral turn taking, engages in listening, and engaging in off task behaviors

● There has been an increase in students engaging in reading, discussing text, and students engaging in cooperative groups.
● Still had a high number of students engaging in off task behaviors and students engaged in listening.
