ENVIRONMENTAL EFFECTS

Old growth forest is often cleared and/or subsistence farmers are displaced to make way for pulpwood plantations. Often the tree planted is eucalyptus, which draws up phenomenal amounts of water, causing problems in sensitive regions. 

 Use of carbon disulfide can cause nervous system damage with chronic exposure.

Bamboo stalks contain bast fibers that can be processed into a relatively stiff and rough fabric like flax (linen) or hemp. Most bamboo fabric in the market, however, has a smooth, silky hand that feels similar to rayon—because that’s essentially what it is.

Bamboo Rayon is also an big problem concerned with environmental factors as the stalks contain so much lignin which make trees too strong and tall Lignin requires strong chemicals to break it down
