What does virtual internship mean?These activities are designed to take place in the student’s home and not on or in any Cleveland Clinic campus or facility. All sessions and meetings will be conducted virtually via ZOOM.

Required Technology: Students MUST have the following to participate

• Wi-Fi, Internet, or Hot Spot capabilities;• Access to a desktop computer, laptop computer, tablet/

iPad and/or cell phone;• The ZOOM app downloaded for use.

What will I be doing during the internship?Student activities include orientation, virtual mentor/mentee sessions, independent study, project work and assignments, enrichment and employment workshops and a presentation and culminating experience. Each student will be responsible for conducting and completing online assignments and projects, participating in virtual workshops designed for the students, attending weekly virtual meetings with their mentor/co-mentor and other similar tasks and assignments as assigned by their mentor.

Application Submission Dates:The Human Resources application for all students opens on Monday, April 5, 2021;

The deadline for all students to submit their Human Resources application is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 30, 2021 – late applications WILL NOT be accepted.

Dates & Times:• The VSIP starts on Tuesday, July 6, 2021, Monday –

Friday, 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day.• The VSIP ends on Friday, July 30, 2021, Monday – Friday,

9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. each day.• Students will commit to 30 hours each week.• Students are required to attend the Virtual Orientation

event on Tuesday, June 29, 2021 from 1-2 p.m. orTuesday evening, June 29, 2021 from 6-7 p.m..

• Students are required to attend the Virtual Student ProjectPresentation and Culmination & Recognition Ceremonyevent on Friday, July 30, 2021 as part of their programcompletion.

• Total maximum number of participation hours = 120hours.

What it’s about?The Virtual Louis Stokes Internship Program (VSIP) is a four-week paid summer internship that honors Congressman Louis Stokes’ legacy of public service and his longstanding commitment to the youth of Cleveland. It provides 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders from Cleveland, East Cleveland and Warrensville with real-world experience and the opportunity to interact virtually with Cleveland Clinic caregivers as their mentors/co-mentors in a variety of non-clinical/business focused areas of healthcare such as Administration, Buildings & Properties, Community Care, Customer/Support Services, Engineering, Human Resources, Information Technology/ Cybersecurity, Integrative Arts & Technology, Law, Marketing, Operations and Protective Services.

PLEASE NOTE: This is a paid opportunity. Accepted applicants will be hired as Cleveland Clinic employees for the duration of the program.

Eligibility Criteria: All students must

• Be a U.S. Citizen, non-citizen national, or legal permanentresident.

• Be at least 15 years of age by June 1, 2021.• Be in 9th, 10th, 11th or 12th grade at the time of

application.• Have a current cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better on a 4.0

scale.• Live in Cleveland, East Cleveland or Warrensville.• Demonstrate a strong interest in non-clinical, business

focused areas of health care.

What’s it about?The Virtual Science Internship Program (VSIP) is a four-week paid summer internship that provides 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th graders from the Northeast Ohio counties of Cuyahoga, Lake, Lorain and Summit with real-world experience and the opportunity to interact virtually with Cleveland Clinic caregivers as their mentors/co-mentors in a variety of clinical focused areas of healthcare such as Applied Medicine (direct patient care focus), Laboratory Medicine, Nursing Care, Occupational Therapy, Exercise Therapy, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training, Public Health, Radiology, Respiratory Care and Translational Medicine (indirect patient care/research focus).

WAIT! – MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THESE 3 DOCUMENTS BEFORE YOU START: As part of the online Human Resources application you will be asked to upload your resume’ to the application. While the application only asks for your resume’ THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN UPLOAD YOUR COMBINED THREE DOCUMENTS (COVER LETTER, TRANSCRIPT, RESUME’). • Combine and save all three documents (your cover letter,transcript and resumé) into ONE, SINGLE PDF file on yourcomputer or thumb drive.
