TEAM MIRO NEWSLETTER TERM 4, 2019 Welcome back! We hope that the school holiday break has left you feeling refreshed and ready for the final school term for 2019! Hold on tight Team Miro students and families...this Term will feel like the fastest and busiest one of all! Learning focus in Term 4! A brief overview of learning in Term Four Oral Language This term our oral language topics will be linking to the learning and events happening in classes. A copy of the subject we will be discussing each week, and the day your child will be sharing with the class, will be sent home this week. Inquiry/Integrated Our inquiry and integrated focus this term will focus on Cultural Celebrations, where we will explore what celebrations look like for the many cultures that make up our school at West Park. Our students will be exploring and learning about how to stay safe out in the sun. Looking at what our bodies need and how to be prepared! We will also be putting our drama and performance skills in action as we learn about traditional fairy tales. Linking these tales to some wonderful digital technology activities also. We look forward to sharing highlights of this through Seesaw! Math and Reading This will be taught based on the identified needs of each student by their classroom teacher. We encourage daily reading and the use of Mathletics at home to support their learning. Important Dates: Week 1/2 - WPS Idol Auditions and Final 17 October - ASB Trip Week 2 and 3 - Swimming 6 November - R4 visiting Raroa Int 7 November - African Drumming performance 8 November - R 2 & 3 visiting Raroa Int 20 November - Kelly Sports Day 2 December - Y1/2 Concert and Picnic at 5.30pm 5 December - Scholastic Book Fair 10 December - Team Miro end of year trip 12 December - Junior Athletics Day 13 December - Y1-4 Water Play 18 December - School closes for 2019!

Parent HelpersNotices...WARMER WEATHER!Please ensure children have a named, full brimmedsunhat to help protect your child when playing outside.We also strongly encourage sun screen to be appliedbefore school and students are welcome to have asmall bottle to re apply as needed throughout the day.This is often best stored in a zip lock bag to preventany leakages through school bags. ASB TripThis term will also include another trip to the ASBSports Centre on the 17th of October. Thank you tothose that have offered to come along and support thechildren! BOOK ROOM HELPERSAnyone who can volunteer to help put books away foran hour on a Friday morning please contact PaulaMcIvor by email ([email protected]). This isa huge job for teachers and we greatly appreciatehaving a team of amazing parents help with this.Depending on numbers you might only have to do itonce a term.

ROAD PATROLEvery morning and afternoon we haveresponsible Year 6 students who doRoad Patrol for our school to make sureour families can cross our busy roadssafely.We are looking for parents who cansupport and supervise our students outon Patrol.
