TYPES OF VIOLENCE

VERBAL- Verbally humiliating, harassing and assulting individuals or groups of people. This type of violence is extremely common, but doesn’t have drastic cosequences.

PHYSICAL- Causing physical harm to someone or endangering their healt/life. It’s not as common as verbal violence, but is much more dangerouse and can have serious consquences.

SEXUSAL- It can be either verbal or physical. The verbal type involves inapropriate gestures, statements and sexual requests. It‘s less dangerous and easier to deal with. The physical type involves being touched on inapropriate places, forced intercourse… It‘s very dangerous and harder to deal with.

SOCIAL- It includes exclusion from grups, ignoring, lying, manipulating, gossiping… It‘s very common among children and adolescents and can sometimes be difficult to resolve, because it usually involves large groups of people.

INTERNET VIOLENCE- Insulting, lying, blackmailing or threatning over social media (Facebook, Snapchat, skype…)

ECONOMICAL- Blackmailing for money and destroying personal belongings or property.

VICTIM: Should not hide the problem from

anyone and in urgent cases has to

call the police. If injured, he/she should visit a

doctor/call an ambulance. Should discuss the problem as soon

as possible

OFFENDER: If under 14, can not take

responsebillity for the crimes and has to visit social services or similar institutions.

If over 14 he/she has go to court and be judged as an adolescent (special laws).

REASONS

Different race/ethnicity Financial problems Different beliefs (religious, political) Drugs Gangs Boasting their public image Rival families Sexual unfulfillment

People are mostly violent to weaker individuals. Violence is an abuse of power.

INSTITUTIONSHEALTH: Are required if a person is injured-(hospital, doctor,

ambulance…).

LAW: Are required to intervene during acts of violence and judge the offenders-(police, the court).

SOCIAL: They (mentally) help and advise victims and offenders (to help prevent future incidents)-(social services, correctional facilities...)

SCHOOL: It’s the first to educate and socialize children and plays a major role in violence prevention.

PREVENTIONSCHOOL- Should act to prevent violence and educate children about

values and virtues.

FAMILY- Should not allow kids to do anything they want, although they should not act violently against them

SOCIETY- Should have zero tolerance of violence and should in no way encourage it.
