When word of Hurricane Katrina came across the airwaves, people from the United States and across the world felt deep compassion for those suffering the devastation of this massive disaster. We all wondered how we could help, and day by day we heard of people stepping up to the plate to serve those in need.

Here at Vineyard Boise we realized it was time for us to also kick into action our CAT (Compassion in Action Team) crises relief team. The purpose of this outreach response team is to serve in disaster situations nationally and internationally. We respond to both man-made and natural disasters resulting from earthquakes, floods, tsunamis and the like. Our response commitment is virtually unlimited when funding is available for our trained volunteers. Pastor Profile

Pastor Bryant S. TownsendAgape Christian Worship Center, Boise, Idaho

God has done so much in my life, I really cannot tell it all. But, if I had to tell just a few of

the things that He has done and how He has proven Himself to be real and faithful; I would begin very early in my life. I was born in Virginia, the youngest of nine children. Growing up, my family was very poor, but the love of family was instilled in us by my mother. When I was young, no one in my home was a Christian, but I was still made to go to church. From early in life, I had a hunger for God and a desire to know Him. My oldest sister became very ill and through her sickness and eventual death, my family members began to turn to God for strength and peace. It was because of her witness, even through her pain, that my family members were drawn to God.

During my teen years, I gradually began to slip away from the teaching of God and the morals instilled in me in my early years. Looking back now, one of the things that caused me to depart from the church was seeing the hypocrisy of church people. I have always been very observant, however, during this time in my life that quality seemed to work to my disadvantage because people who served God and served their flesh, the duplicity of their behavior, led me to turn from the things of God. To make matters worse, I began to doubt the very existence of God. I have now learned from my experiences, when you allow yourself to doubt God, you are prone to do things that you normally would not do. I began to give into the ungodly desires of the world – drinking alcohol and things like that.

When I went to college, my mind, my thoughts, my actions were focused totally on pleasing myself. Ironically, I had an emptiness deep inside and I began to long for something to fill the void. I began to research other religions and I was especially interested in the teachings of Sun Myung Moon,.but God always has a ram in the bush. There were two young ladies God placed in my life and they were “sold out for Jesus!” I did not know it when I met them, but they would be integral in leading me back to the Lord. I always watched them, looking for insincerity, searching for double mindedness, probing for anything that would prove my theory that church people were hypocrites. But these young ladies were genuine; and their life brought about a burning desire in me to know if God were, in fact, real. I secretly began to pray and ask God to show me if He was really up there and if He was truly

real. The more I began to ask, the more I partied. I suppose Paul said it correctly in Romans when he said “when I sought to do good, evil was right there” but thanks be to God that He had a plan for my life. One of the young ladies invited me to church and I accepted (this is especially noteworthy because I had not attended church in a long time). I did not know it then, but that Sunday would change my life forever. I went to church that Sunday and I experienced God in a way that I had never before and that I have not ever since. His presence was so powerful that I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, indeed God was real!

Gradually the teachings of my youth, the morals and the love for God that had been instilled in me, began to become the focus of my life. God again became the head of my life and over the next three years of college, I began to do the work of the Lord. After graduating college, I once again found myself at a crossroads. I felt that I reached a plateau in my service to and my relationship with the Lord; I needed direction and God began to lead me to join the military. Joining the military seemed crazy to me because I had just graduated and had never previously considered joining the military, but I knew it was God and so I followed His lead. After joining the military, I was stationed in Idaho and I asked God “What have you done to me (just joking)?” I thought perhaps God made a mistake by sending me to Idaho, I did not understand His purpose, but He had a plan. I got involved in a local church in Mountain Home. Working in the church gave me the grace to be here and I found that I loved doing the work of the Lord.

The pastor of that church encouraged me to go to Bible College; I guess he saw something in me. I questioned him as to why he would want me to go to Bible College and he said that one day I would be a pastor. I said “never, ever!” I followed his advice despite my thoughts and attended Boise Bible College. Also while in the Air Force I met my lovely wife. I moved to Boise because Mountain Home was too small. While attending Bible College, I began to work with at-risk youth at the juvenile detention center. While working at the center, God showed me that these kids needed a place to be mentored, nurtured, loved; and God began to birth a desire in me to open a church which scared me! I told you God had a plan.

After a great deal of praying, fasting and seeking the Lord, I, my fiancée and six other people opened the Agape Christian Worship Center. With no outside assistance and no money, just a word from the Lord, we held our first Service in January 1999. Agape Christian Worship Center has faced many things: our ministry has survived a fire where our church suffered severe smoke damage, followed four weeks later by our church burning to the ground. Through it all, from our humble beginnings to the fire to our present location, God has still remained faithful to the word He gave me some seven years ago to open a ministry. Today Agape Christian Worship Center has grown to become a multicultural, family-centered, Christ-focused ministry dedicated to changing the world one heart at a time.

A Gift from God Written with His FingerBy Pat Burnam

Scores of guests gathered

for a special occasion Saturday evening October 15 at the Owyhee Plaza Hotel in downtown Boise. They were welcomed with cake and punch and invited into a pleasant patriotic setting in anticipation of hearing speaker Gerry Mahn of Law by Choice for Freedom. Gerry travels the world to offer hope to the people of the nations and presents copies of the Ten Commandments to dignitaries. This mission is the result of a keen impression grooved deep into his heart while serving in the military. He remembers watching a young man linger in death while attempting to cross from the Berlin Wall to freedom. It was an injustice as so many failed to reach out and pull him to safety.

Years later, after becoming a Christian, Gerry was once again deeply impressed to offer freedom to the oppressed, and he began to reach them with the Law of God. His story is simple and Biblically based; it is the story of the Ten Commandments. He communicates in such a warm, simplistic, and unassuming manner, that he brings a gift from God, written with the finger of God to all of those who will receive it. Gerry further conveys that God commanded that these laws hang on the walls, be written on the door posts and the forehead to be meditated upon day and night and hidden in the heart.

In the countries where Gerry travels, the people want this gift from God. They want the Ten Commandments and they want him to tell the story of Jesus, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. As they understand the message of salvation, they realize the freedom granted by the Laws of God and the covering that the blood of the Lamb provides for them. They embrace it with enthusiasm and heartfelt thanks as did all those in attendance at the meeting Saturday evening. Pastors Norman Rutzen and Orvil Stiles asked for God’s gracious presence and proclaimed the necessity and importance of the Word of God. Rachel Gilbert played a delightful Sax rendition of the Star Spangled Banner and led the Pledge of Allegiance, exemplifying the worship and patriotism of a nation under God. Singer Kimberly Beau beautifully vocalized the heart of An American Christian and presentations were made to those who so valiantly stood for the Ten Commandments and the Word of God in the public arena. Representative Bill Sali and his wife requested a picture with Gerry Mahn and were pleased with their framed print of God’s Laws. Everyone was given a very special gift: the Ten Commandments – written with the finger of God. The laws of God will hang on their walls in remembrance of all that God has done and the freedom he grants to each one. Everyone gladly received; none were ashamed of the Gospel.

As the doors continue to open for Gerry, he will follow the call to present a special gift, the gift from God – the Ten Commandments written with the finger of God to all who will receive.

Help put the Ten Commandments and Bibles into the hands of all people. You can make tax deductible contributions to Law by Choice for Freedom. P.O. Box 1296, Post Falls, ID 83854.

For a mere $10, I was given four informative workshops, two worshipful general sessions with a dynamic speaker, breakfast, lunch, all the snacks and drinks one could want, AND a bright red book bag. What a deal! “Hold Nothing Back! How Sacrificial Obedience Leads to Intimacy with God” was a women’s conference sponsored by the Utah-Idaho Southern Baptist Convention, in conjunction with Central Valley Baptist Church, on September 16-17, 2005. The conference was packed full of camaraderie, worship, celebration, and information.

Barbara Carmutt of the Georgia Baptist Convention was the theme interpreter. Barbara is a dynamic and motivating speaker who said that prayer is the key to intima cy with God. God desires to have a relationship with us; He wants us to know Him intimately; and in order to have an intimate relationship with God we must be obedient to the discipline of prayer. Obeying the discipline of prayer means we must be committed to praying; and commitment means sacrifice. We are busy, we are distracted, we make other things our priorities (i.e., family, job), but in order to have an intimate relationship with God we must spend time praying. Barbara said that during her prayer time she includes listening to worship music and praising God and Bible study.

Pastor Commentary

By Pastor David Hardesty, Crane Creek Baptist Church, Boise

A few weeks ago Anthony Harper, publisher of the Treasure Valley Christian News, came to me and said, “Pastor, we want the paper to have more of a local feel. We want local writers and ideas. You can

write...will you for us?” And being the wordsmith that I am, I drew upon all my powers of expression and asked him, “ ‘Bout what?”

He said I could write about whatever I want. Such a deal! So here I am. I hope you’ll enjoy reading my thoughts every month or two. Just don’t ask in advance what I’m going to say, because I don’t know. And neither does Anthony.

But to start I’d like to tell you what I think the Treasure Valley Christian News is all about. It’s not about music. It’s not about the 10 Commandments. It’s not about politics. Sure, you may be a Treasure Valley Christian and care about all those things, but they’re really just little pieces that fit around the edges of life’s jigsaw puzzle. You know, the parts you pay lots of attention to – like the straight pieces of the puzzle help you make the rest orderly – but not the focus of the picture.

And if we Christians get too excited about “THE NEWS!” we miss out on the main things, the old things, the things that Jesus said to focus on: love among the Brethren (and the Sistren, for that matter). The TVCN slogan is “Uniting Christians in Service to Our Communities” and it seems to me that fits pretty well with something our Lord mentioned one night: “By this shall all men know you are My disciples, if you have love one for another.”

It works like this. Today I had lunch with eight brothers in Christ. We all drove to where we met, some farther than others. Cascade, Fruitland, Caldwell, Nampa, Meridian, Boise, and Mountain Home were all represented. We met to share, to pray, and to eat. There was no musical or political agenda, or any agenda for that matter, except prayer. And eating (but that came second). After about two hours, the world’s problems were not solved (not that we really tried) and the price of gas had not gone down (not that we’d mind). All that had happened was that nine Christians drew closer to each other and to the Lord. We loved each other more. And that was enough.

For me, the Treasure Valley Christian News is a tool the Holy Spirit can use to let more of those moments happen. Because the Kingdom is about God’s people getting together for God’s purposes. Because the Kingdom of God is about loving the King, and loving the King’s kids. Because the Kingdom of God is among us, and it is best seen when it shines through us.

Thanks, Anthony, for this chance to share. And thanks to the rest of you for reading my meandering thoughts. Now go find another Treasure Valley Christian, and do some shining together!

“Hold Nothing Back! How Sacrificial Obedience Leads to Intimacy with God”

The workshops included such topics as basic evangelism, spiritually training children, being faithful and pure, how to study the Bible, and missions work in New Orleans and Saudi Arabia. Also included were a Spanish-speaking workshop, a workshop for 12-18-year-olds and one for 18-24-year-olds.

“Hands of Praise” is a team that expresses song through sign language, drama, dance, and interpretive movement to communicate songs and share the message of Christ. This team was inspiring in their interpretations, and their movements were fluid and dramatic. I especially enjoyed seeing the expressions of love on some of their faces as they “sang” to the Lord.

A part of Central Valley Baptist Church’s worship team led the singing time during the general sessions. It was a joy to worship with these beautiful voices and their talented pianist and Congo drummer.

Sometimes we attend seminars or conferences to get something out of them.

Sometimes we don’t attend seminars because we think we have “better” things to do or because we don’t think we’ll get anything from them. What I got out of this conference was the need to spend more time with God because God wants to have an intimate relationship with me, but if I don’t sit before God, He can’t communicate with me. Thanks to all the many gifted women who organized and presented this inspiring conference.

by Kevin Malveaux, Boise “In my Father’s house there are many mansions and if that were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” John 14:2

Let’s Get Busy…Our time has come to be

about our Father’s business. Just as Jesus said in Luke 2:49, “…Wist they not, that I be about my Father’s business?” It is time for us to do something outside of the four walls of our physical church and help show the world that Christ is loving, caring, sharing, fixing, rejoicing, and changing lives, in the spiritual and also in the physical state. He has sent us as vessels to show people His light and love for this world; after all He is the Creator of all things.

We as Christians are born with a desire to help someone else in need but maybe we don’t know of an avenue to put our time into. Al-though, we see frequently on television the need is out there, we often times don’t act upon it. Well, here is an opportunity to avail yourself and take that step that you have always wanted to – that step of faith. We are in need of any gift that you may have, any talent that you would love to offer, we need YOU. Men, women, teens, and youth – let’s get together and unite on one accord to make a difference in our own community. Let’s show the Treasure Valley who and what God re-ally is – He isn’t a church but a God of Love.

Boise Valley Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat reaches out to low-income families who are living or working in the Treasure Valley already. Their housing need, willingness to partner (contribute sweat equity) and their ability to pay are evaluated as part of the application process. Once their home is completed, it is sold to them with a no-profit, no-interest mortgage (Exodus 22:25).

The vision of Habitat’s founder is for a ministry employing the “theology of the hammer,” where people from all walks of life come together to build houses with God’s people in need. It is only natural that church – Christ’s body in the world today – should be the primary partner of Habitat’s work. And it is not just Christian churches that are building houses and build-ing lives through Habitat. The participation of Jewish, Islamic and other faith bodies in Habitat’s work is growing due to those groups’ commitment to acting out their faith by helping their neighbors in need.

This organization builds, rebuilds and cleans up the community in various areas – maybe in your own neighborhood. They need volunteers: managers, leaders, financial savvy persons, handymen, cleaners, carpenters, and donators of both money and supplies. They also need people who can give time and give a little TLC to a community.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more information on how you and your organization can help, contact Habitat for Humanity at (208) 331-2916 or by web address at www.hfhboise.org.

Hands of Hope Northwest, Inc. – MINISTRY SPOTLIGHTBy Liz Murtland, Nampa

Hands of Hope Northwest, Inc. is a faith based humanitarian organization located in Nampa, Idaho. The mission of Hands of Hope is to collect medical supplies and equipment and give them to those in great need.

We have two major areas of ministry. We ship medical supplies and equipment to Christian organizations in Developing Countries around the world. We have helped hospitals and clinics in many countries, including Guatemala, Venezuela, Indonesia, The Ukraine, The Philippines, Romania, Bulgaria, Haiti, Swaziland, Papua New Guinea, and others.

Another area of ministry is loaning wheelchairs, walkers, bath benches, etc. to those in the Treasure Valley and beyond. We receive referrals from home health agencies, hospital social workers, rehabilitation workers, and hospice organizations, etc. When clients do not qualify for financial assistance, have no insurance or cannot afford to purchase or rent the equipment, we are glad to loan the items to them. Currently we have approximately 125 pieces of equipment loaned in the community. Last year we estimated the rental value of the loaned items to be $25,000.00 allowing

Idaho Chooses LifeBy David Ripley, Boise

On Sunday, October 2nd, several hundred pro-Lifers from around the Treasure Valley gathered for the annual Life Chain along Milwaukee Avenue. This event provides a unique opportunity for pro-Lifers to confront the “Culture of Death” which seems to grip our nation.

The Treasure Valley Life Chain was part of a national phenomenon, in which Life Chains were held in some 1800 American cities.

This year’s event was organized by Idaho Chooses Life, and supported by Boise Area Respect Life, Community Church of the Valley, Calvary Chapel of Boise and St. Paul’s Youth Ministry.

Each year, the Lord brings us word of at least one miracle or opportunity for critical service. Some twenty-five thousand Idahoans pass through the Life Chain in the two hours, and many women are carrying babies in their womb. There are those still undecided as to whether they will recognize their baby’s right to live. Seeing a deep commitment to that principle helps mothers feel real support and encouragement. We know for a fact that several babies are alive today because of previous Life Chains.

This year’s event is particularly important as Planned Parenthood in Boise has entered the abortion business. Our information is that they are flying a Seattle abortionist into Boise once a week to abort children in the womb.

Boise already carries the distinction of being Idaho’s “Abortion Capital” – and Planned Parenthood’s decision to abort children through chemical and surgical

many people to have the needed items that they would have had to do without or had to do without other necessities to afford them.

Hands of Hope began as part of a local church missions program but quickly outgrew any space the church could allocate for this ministry. After moving from one borrowed space to another two years ago, we were able to occupy our own building thanks to the generosity of many individuals who came together to make it possible. We are located at 1201 S. Powerline Road in Nampa.

We accept medical items from clinics, doctor’s and dentist’s offices, hospitals, and individuals. When someone has had surgery or a family member has passed away we gladly accept the no longer needed equipment and unused medical items, the one exception is we cannot accept any medication.

We rely totally on contributions to operate and in 2004 our operational expense was at 3% of total income and gave away $1,000,000.00 in medical goods. We thank God for pouring out his blessings on us. We have The Prayer of Jabez on our wall and truly God continues to “enlarge our territory.”

Contributions are always welcome and will be used exclusively for ministry.

abortions into the second trimester can only mean more blood seeping into our land. With abortion now an official profit center for Planned Parenthood, we expect the abortion rate in Idaho to increase in coming years.

This situation is particularly dangerous given the lack of a Parental Consent Law in Idaho. (Federal Judge Lynn Winmill has blocked the law). Our daughters are easy prey for the Abortion Industry since there is no requirement that parents even be notified that their daughter is going to have an abortion.

To make matters worse – the State of Idaho is still not effectively enforcing the Informed Consent Law, which theoretically requires a 24 hour waiting period after they receive information about the risks and alternatives to abortion.

Your prayers and support are urgently needed as we build strategies for confronting these developments.

By Deb Garetti and Kara Murphy, Real Life Community Church, Nampa

NAMPA – Treasure Valley residents, who have felt compassion for the victims of the hurricane devastation occurring in the Southern United States in recent months, now have a way to get involved LOCALLY in helping some of these families rebuild their lives.

Begun as a Nampa citywide effort, the KATRINA SUNSHINE PROJECT has already expanded to include the entire Treasure Valley, and is a way for churches, businesses, and individuals to be a part of the solution.

Kara Murphy is the co-founder and spokesperson for the KATRINA SUNSHINE PROJECT. “The people of this Valley have big hearts,” she said, “and we are warm and welcoming to those in need. We are offering a way Treasure Valley folks can give with confidence to a local effort to see lives restored to normal in a wonderful area after extreme devastation.”

“All involved with the project are volunteers, so there is zero overhead – which means that every penny donated goes directly to the people in need. Many organizations and individuals out there are giving specific items or services. The KATRINA SUNSHINE PROJECT offers the complete package to a family willing to relocate.”

The Project includes:• Locating a CAR to be donated to each

family that relocates to the Treasure Valley.• Locating EMPLOYERS ready to hire

individuals from these families.• Raising FUNDS to help cover the costs of

rent, food, clothing, gas, car insurance, etc., until the families receive their initial paychecks.

• Choosing CHURCHES THAT WISH TO ADOPT A FAMILY and will furnish a home for them, provide emotional and practical support, and bring them Christmas presents this year.

The Project Committee is made up of mothers, an attorney, an accountant, representatives of area churches and businessmen and women of the Treasure Valley. Four churches have committed to adopting a family and their congregations will temporarily provide care and support.

Churches already on board are Real Life Community Church, Crossroads Community Church, Eagle Nazarene Church, and Boise Euclid Nazarene. Inquiries from other churches are welcome.

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS are essential to this project. These donations will provide the financial base for families as they begin new jobs and get back on their feet. An estimated $5,000 is needed for each person relocated to the Treasure Valley.

Real Life Community Church of Nampa has enthusiastically agreed to act as the umbrella under which this short-term project will operate. A special acco unt has been set-up at Farmers & Merchants Bank at the South Nampa Branch on 12th Avenue in Nampa for donations.

All donations are TAX-DEDUCTIBLE and all funds go toward meeting the needs of the adopted families.

For more information, call the Real Life office at (208) 465-1771 or Kara Murphy at (208) 461-9184 and view the Real Life Community Church web site: www.reallifecommunity.com

account for human reproduction. He showed the incredible complexity in the developing placenta and the developing organs of the baby. The intricacy and sequential development in this reproductive process is trillions of times greater than all of man’s designed technology. The only rational conclusion is that an awesome God designed and created all of life, confirming the truth of the Bible. Dr. Menton’s Monday evening presentation on the intricacies and marvels of the human eye and ear captivated his audience of over 1,800. On Tuesday evening, Dr. Menton exposed the complete distortion of the 1925 Scope’s trial as portrayed in the Hollywood production of “Inherit the Wind.” This film and play is utilized in public high schools throughout America, and continues to indoctrinate students in a false perception of historical events.

On Monday morning, 2,000 children attended the K-6 morning session and 1,200 attended the 7-12th grade afternoon session.

BUDDY DAVIS - On Monday and Tuesday evenings, children ages 7-10 were delighted as Buddy Davis and his dinosaur friend ‘Levi’ taught children during the Creation Adventure Workshop. About 185 young students learned about fossils, dinosaurs, and what AiG calls “The 7 C’s of History.”

A dedicated core of volunteers sacrificially gave of their time, energy and talents to make this conference a reality. God bless them all!

Many post-conference emails were sent sharing how the Body of Christ was built up and large numbers of young people were challenged with the eternal truths of Genesis. Here is one person’s comments that especially touched our hearts: “The Boise AiG conference made my year. I was blown away by the reminders of how awesome of a God we do serve. It was life changing for me. I was touched that so many people came to hear about the Answers that are in Genesis… Ken’s last segment on Tuesday was by far what we all need to hear… My 9 year old asked if we could read these books at night along with the Bible before going to bed. Praise God.”

construction of their new headquarters and worldwide support campus on the Nampa Municipal Airport in Nampa, ID with a Ground Breaking Ceremony September 8, 2005. Pictured from left to right are: Dennis Fulton, David Bills, Tim Cowles, Kevin Swanson, Tom Dale and Claude Leavitt.

Mission Aviation Fellowship celebrated their impending move to Treasure Valley with a ground breaking ceremony at Nampa Municipal Airport Thursday, September 8th. More than 200 people attended the event which marks the beginning of construction of MAF’s new, worldwide support center. Says Kevin Swanson, President & CEO, “God called MAF to overcome barriers in reaching the world for Christ. Because we hold that trust sacred we embarked on one of the most significant events in our history. Relocating MAF’s Headquarters from Southern California to Nampa, Idaho will greatly enhance our worldwide service to the poor, needy and lost.”

The afternoon’s activities included comments from President Swanson followed with an address by Nampa Mayor, Tom Dale, welcoming Mission Aviation Fellowship to Nampa. Mayor Dale praised the many people praying for this move and shares their excitement to see the answer become a reality. He thanked the entire community for opening the door and paving the way for this major relocation. On a personal note, he added that, as a private pilot who attended many MAF fly-in’s, he never had a clue that one day he would be welcoming MAF to Nampa.

Ground breaking was performed by Dennis Fulton, MAF’s Vice President - Relocation, representing MAF’s worldwide missionary staff; David Bills, Contractor, representing the contractors and tradesmen who will construct the new facilities; Tim Cowles, Chairman of the Idaho Friends of MAF, representing their network of volunteers; Kevin Swanson, representing the MAF Board of Directors; Tom Dale, representing the City of Nampa; and Claude Leavitt, retired missionary with CrossWorld (formerly Unevangelized Fields Mission), representing the missionaries and national church workers who use MAF services worldwide.

The ceremony concluded with Jim Halbert, Pastor of the Crossroads Community Church in Nampa, offering a prayer of dedication committing the new facilities to serving missionaries and national churches around the world. A buffet dinner followed.

The 9-acre site immediately adjacent to the airport has already received major access and utility improvements. The first shovels of turned dirt formally began the construction of the 18,000 square-foot, 2 story hangars that will house not only MAF’s US based training aircraft, but shops designed to provide advanced technical support to a fleet of more than 60 aircraft based in 23 countries. It will also include pilot training classrooms as well as an extensive parts ordering and shipping warehouse.

The 35,000 square-foot, single story office building, that will serve the bulk of MAF’s support center staff, is in the final steps of the design phase and will be ready for construction shortly. The campus will also include short-term lodging for missionary staff in training as well as an RV park for volunteers assisting MAF’s ministry at their headquarters.

One aircraft and 2 flight instructor pilots have been assigned to the Nampa airport for one week in October 2005 to further establish flight training routes and airstrips in the area. This will prevent interruption of the ongoing field preparation schedule when the flight training department relocates next year.

About a dozen families have purchased homes or started construction in Treasure Valley. The remaining families will follow during the next 9 months. MAF will physically move staff and equipment in 6 phases between July 7 and August 8, 2006.

The Neglected AssuranceOne evening at sixteen years of age, I found myself

sitting on the side of a mountain watching the sun set across the vast Mojave Desert. It is unusual for a teen to seek out a remote place like this, but I had deliberately gone there to find the answers to some of life’s deepest questions. I wanted to know if God existed, if creation was His doing, and if my life had purpose in it all. I had been raised in a Christian home and had some grasp of man’s assurances of the reality of God through scripture. I had read about the miracles of the Bible: how Christ’s birth, life, ministry and death had been accurately prophesied for thousands of years before his coming. I knew that Jesus had perfectly fulfilled every prophecy and how that it had been witnessed firsthand by the Apostles and recorded in the New Testament. That night, though, I was asking for more.

At that point in my life I was on the side of a mountain asking the most important question of the ages. I wanted to know for myself if God really existed, and if my life really mattered. Maybe it was because I was alone and sincerely asking real questions (and Jesus did say, “If you seek you will find”) – but on that evening as I looked across that breath-taking landscape before me, I came to the amazing reality that it was all true; God must exist. I recognized him in his creation! In the inspiration of the moment I found a small piece of paper and scratched a few words on it trying to communicate what I had discovered in my heart. Though I haven’t kept many mementos from my youth, I still have that particular piece of paper. The words on it are a bit flowery, and to be honest, I find myself a bit embarrassed to share them. For the sake of what God is asking me to communicate – here they are:

And the voices roared, “Too little proof,” and I replied, “I have broken from the dense pines, and there I have smelled the sap and grasped the earth. I have heard the silence and lifted my head to it and as far as I could see there was beauty; swift shadows of clouds on silver fields, the colored sunset, the jagged Sierras smothered into the endless deserts.” And now I say, “Haven’t I seen the face of the Lord?”

Years later, I read what Apostle Paul said about how God revealed himself through nature, and because of it man was without excuse from knowing him. In the first chapter of the Book of Romans, Paul wrote, “For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.” Paul told us that not only had God revealed himself through scripture and the witnessed ministry of Jesus, but he also revealed himself through nature. The environment is a major assurance to mankind of God’s existence and yet it is an assurance that has been overlooked and neglected in recent years by many Christians.

Environmental stewardship is God’s Commission to His People

Not only is the creation an assurance, but it is the biblical responsibility of God’s people. One of the first commands of God to mankind was to “Tend His garden.” After the great flood God made a covenant, not with Noah, but between himself, the earth and man. We refer to it as the covenant of the rainbow. God said, “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.” [Gen. 9:13-15] The story of Noah and the flood serves as a foreshadow or picture of the redemption that would eventually come through Jesus. Remember, the Bible begins in a garden and ends in a restored garden. [Gen. 2 & Rev. 21] As we study the story of Noah and the flood we should ask ourselves the question: who and what were saved from destruction? It was faithful, God-fearing man and the creation. God

not only made a covenant with every living thing, but he commissioned man to have stewardship over it.

Stewardship requires responsibility. When the waters receded and the environment was restored God gave these instructions: “And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man.”

Not only are we commissioned to be stewards of the environment but we are commanded to value the sanctity of human life. As God’s people we are called to be “pro – the web of life;” that means all life.

Leading the way is the responsibility of the Christian Church

There are two kinds of truth. There is relative truth which states that everyone has their own truth. What is true for you is your truth, and what is true for me is my truth. This kind of truth is embraced by the majority of a non-believing society. Relative truth is unstable at best. Relative truth says, “If it works, then it must be true.”

On the other hand there is godly truth, which is absolute. It says that if it’s true, then it works. Truth is based on only one belief – and is true regardless of who believes it. It is based on the belief that the Bible is the Word of God. It testifies to the fact that there is one

God, the Creator of heaven and earth. Concerning the environment, we believe that

God not only created it – but also commissioned us to respect and care for it. It is our conviction that the worldwide church should embrace this biblical value and see themselves as ‘tenders of the Garden.’ Because Christians represent over one-third of the world’s population, environmental reformation would then become a reality.

Not only do we believe the environment is a responsibility shared by all Christians, but we also feel the Church can bring real, substantive change to it. It is essential that we do our part and ask God to take this value for his creation and spread it throughout the Body of Christ. Our efforts at Vineyard Boise to promote recycling, environmental awareness and take on environmental clean-up projects are some ways we can do this. It is God’s heart and desire that we care for his creation; I believe he is using this fellowship to establish a model for others to follow. Let’s set an example and “Tend the Garden” with diligence, conviction and great passion, asking God to bless our small beginnings.

There is so much more that can be said on this subject. I encourage you to visit our environmental website for more:

BOOK REVIEWSCard Book Looks at CreativityBy Adam Graham, Garden City

Many of us think creativity is for a select few, but Christian Musician Michael Card disagrees in his book, “Scribbling in the Sand.”

The book gets its title from the story in the book of John where Jesus knelt and

wrote something in the sand in response to the Pharisees bringing him a woman who’d been caught in the act of adultery. Debate has always focused on what he wrote, but Card writes, “They ask what, without ever realizing the real question is why? It was not the content that mattered but why he did it. Unexpected. Irritating. Creative.”

Card takes us through various biblical stories and shows how people used creativity from Adam in the Garden, to the prophets, and the obscure Bezalel the son of Uri. Card draws lessons on Christian Creativity from each.

Card’s book features an excellent chapter on prayer that encourages Christians to listen for God’s voice in His Word, in Prayer, and through the events of our lives. Card also includes letters from five different Christian leaders on creativity that are worth the purchase price alone.

Card reminds us the greatest act of creativity is giving of ourselves to show forth God’s love. Thus, we all can be creative and have something to offer the body of Christ and our community. Card’s book offers a clarion call to realize our creativity and use it for the glory of God.

If Animals Could Talkby Marcia Bracy Yiapan, Nampa

If animals could talk, according to the German scientist Dr. Werner Gitt and his colleague Karl-Heinz Vanheiden, they would tell the world about their wonderful Creator’s ingenuity.

A sparrow explains why female birds lay eggs – because carrying them around inside them would make the birds too heavy to fly. Eggs are laid one per day but all start incubation together only when the mother begins her brooding. How she regulates their temperature is amazing, too. What about feathers? Next time you find one, examine it closely. Look for its many branches, rays, hooks and loops which enable it to broaden or contract for flying.

Whales tell us how they can live in both frigid Arctic and warm tropical waters. Did you know that they also travel down to the dark bottom of the ocean to dine on giant squid? Since they can stay submerged for an hour, do you conclude that they have humongous lungs? On the contrary, they have relatively small lungs. Why don’t they (being large mammals) get the bends as people do when they surface rapidly? The unique ways their bodies obtain and utilize oxygen, they explain, belie the idea of their having evolved from any other mammals. They even have noses on top of their heads. Dr.Gitt points out that these enormous and amazing animals are the only ones mentioned specifically in the Creation account in Genesis.

From the gigantic to the minuscule: we now hear from a firefly. It does its best to explain bioluminescence, which is shared by over 4000 creatures, but we are left with jaws agape. Because the firefly, unlike our electric lights, makes “cold” light with no heat at all, it chides, “You have to

By Dirk Bailey, BoiseChairman, Marriage Protection Alliance

The threat to marriage in IdahoOne man and one woman used to be the commonly

accepted definition of marriage in Idaho. Today, it is being challenged, and the sacred institution faces the same assault in Idaho that occurred in Massachusetts.

In 2003, the definition of two words changed the destiny of marriage forever in the state of Massachusetts. Those two words were “liberty” and “equality.” In a four-to-three split decision vote, the Massachusetts Supreme Court forced that state to become the first in the country to accept homosexual marriage.

These two words were all it took for four judges who were predisposed to the recognition of homosexual marriage to impose their will on millions of Massachusetts citizens. The Court declared: “The Massachusetts Constitution protects matters of personal liberty against government incursion as zealously, and often more so, than does the Federal Constitution, even where both Constitutions employ essentially the same language . . . . Limiting the protections, benefits, and obligations of civil marriage

to opposite-sex couples violates the basic premises of individual liberty and equality under law protected by the Massachusetts Constitution.”

Currently, nothing protects Idaho from the same future.

Idaho’s Constitution has the same type of provisions as that of Massachusetts. The first Article of the Idaho State Constitution declares: “All men are by nature free and equal, and have certain inalienable rights, among which are enjoying and defending life and liberty...”

Idaho is as vulnerable as Massachusetts to a few judges conscripting and twisting the notions of liberty and equality to their own ends.

Amend the Idaho Constitution to protect marriage

In order to prevent judges from twisting the principles of “liberty” and “equality” and imposing standards that the citizens and their legislators oppose, Idaho needs to amend its Constitution to clearly define “marriage” as being limited to the union of one man and one woman.

Amending the Constitution will ensure that the desires of the citizens of Idaho are not frustrated by the vote of just three judges. It will place an immovable foundation on the very definition of marriage. It will give due honor to the institution that has been the cornerstone of civilization for millennia.

The bill, currently under consideration for the 2006 legislative session, is simple. It reads:

“Only a union of one man and one woman shall be valid or recognized in this state. This state and its political subdivisions shall not create or recognize a legal status similar to that of marriage.”

How you can helpThe Marriage Protection Alliance (MPA) serves

to protect the traditional definition of marriage. MPA is a coalition of national, state, and local organizations, churches, and people working together to promote the marriage amendment in Idaho. Nationally, the Alliance Defense Fund and Focus on the Family have helped pass marriage initiatives in 11 states in 2004. As part of MPA, they have joined with Idaho churches and individuals to pursue this important goal.

Who could draw™ over a hundred women to attend a daylong seminar on Writing God’s Answers? Boise’s own Christian writer, Robin Lee Hatcher. A recent retreat organized by Secon d Baptist Church featured sessions based on four of Hatcher’s books; The Forgiving Hour, The Shepherd’s Voice, The Story Jar, and Ribbon of Years. Just a sampling, for the well-know s. Her walk with Christ hasn’t been a smooth straightaway. Although she attended church growing up, it wasn’t until she reached her twenties that anyone pointed out her need for a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Robin hoped to be an actress rather than a writer and her initial commitment to Christ faltered as marriage, children, everyday life and then divorce took center stage.

Night after night, when her day job ended, Robin worked at her writing craft. As a single mom, she saved weekends for her daughters, but her writing demanded hours of isolation from her family. Publishing success came several years later with one award-winning book after another. But life success was delayed until Ms. Hatcher read a Francine Rivers’ book and renewed her commitment to Christ. Her writing changed as her his torical and women’s fiction were transformed into an avenue of ministry to believers.

At her seminar Robin spoke a message of forgiveness to Christians who have stumbled in their walk with Christ. Struggling Christians may find they can accept God’s forgiveness for sins committed before they knew Christ, but hang on to the guilt for sins committed afterwards. Although the floundering believer looks in the mirror and sees someone who has failed Christ, God views each Christian as righteous; a holy priest, a dearly ransomed precious possession, and a beloved child for all time.

“God sees us through the eyes of grace,” Robin reiterates at the close of her seminar. Quoting Max Lucado, she says, “He loves us just the way we are, but refuses to leave us there. He wants us to be just like Jesus.” “Live as people with a hope,” she entreats. “Dive into the river of life, the ‘faith life’ and swim.”

Robin should know. She’s gone from treading water to the butterfly stroke, a beautiful reminder of God’s perfect resurrection power at work in an imperfect Christian.

TREASURE VALLEY TESTIMONIESAnn Doupont – Boise, Idaho

Raised in a religion that didn’t tell us how to be born-again, I left disillusioned at a young age. They taught that theirs was the only true religion, so I had nowhere to go but to the world. I became a teenage alcoholic and drug user.

In my early twenties I graduated to using hard drugs after meeting a criminal who became my boyfriend for 10 years – until finding him dead of a heroin overdose on our bathroom floor. During the time that I knew this man, I attempted suicide twice.

I attended a 12-step meeting once while he was still alive, but he was angry that I had gone, so I didn’t return to the meetings until after his death. I was desperate for help, and finally help for my recovery began at that very first meeting.

The year following his death I had my first of five mental breakdowns resulting in hospitalization. Later that year I was diagnosed as having manic depression, now more commonly known as “bipolar disorder.” The doctors said that I’d be on lithium medication for the rest of my life.

During one of the 12-step meetings I attended, a man called “Preacher Larry” talked about Jesus each time he spoke. That’s all I remember hearing. At the end of the meeting, I told him that I wanted Jesus in my life. Since I was shy at that time, I told him that I didn’t want to pray there in front of people. So we went to his car and I prayed, asking Jesus to come into my life.

I stopped drinking and using drugs through the 12-step programs I attended, and three years later I was fully freed from the medication that the doctors said I’d be on for the rest of my life.

Chris Johnson’s Living Nightmare by Kenna Kelley-ManningWitchcraft and Satanist rituals are neither harmless nor merely fictitious

entertainment to Chris. Back in the early 60s in Montana, after her father died, everything changed and chaos followed. Church membership ended and somehow Chris’ mother became involved in Satan worship. Edge of town bonfires, sacrifices, mutilations, rapes, beatings and torture of her six siblings and herself became the norm. Chris described, “I was a frequent offering, or one of my younger sisters was always there.” The children resorted to drinking and drugs, anything that made their frantic existence bearable, all the while maintaining school attendance throughout the years.

“There was always a house and food, but no concern over who just happened to wander into whose bedroom to do what with whom,” offered Chris. The children were passed around for the enjoyment of the warped, misled minds of her mother’s acquaintances. As the oldest, Chris was given an adult’s share of the responsibility, along with concern for the younger ones. One vivid, painful memory involves rescuing her eighteen-month-old baby sister from rape. They went through a long list of her mother’s husbands, boyfriends, and address changes until Chris escaped to her grandmother’s at sixteen.

When demon faces loomed at her during the night fear engulfed her life, and as siblings began committing suicide she knew she could be next. Chris barely hung on by 1993 after searching for peace through several failed marriages, affairs, therapists, and New Age religion. “Christianity, though, was only a crutch for weak people and the Bible a nice history book,” Chris thought. Then inexplicably, feeling on the verge of something incomprehensible, she began listening to Christian radio and purchased a Bible. One day, listening to Mary Did You Know, she found herself sobbing, overwhelmed with the realization that Jesus was real and so was His sacrifice! In that moment she gave her heart to the Lord.

The Lord led Chris to a tiny church where, for the first five years afterwards, she read nothing but the Word alone. “It was like breathing fresh air!” Chris describes. Layers of fear, pride, and unforgiveness were stripped away. “The programs and counselors served as temporary fixes but true healing and peace come only when you let Jesus be your Counselor. He’s abundantly faithful!” Chris exclaims. Feeling greatly blessed, having moved beyond her past, she claims II Corinthians 1: 3-4, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our affliction so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted.”

admit – your lamps are more like ovens than lights.” Yes, at best, only 10% of their energy becomes light.

A golden plover tells us how it makes the 4,500 km nonstop trip from Alaska to Hawaii in 88 hours. Failure would mean death, since the plover is a poor swimmer. It asks us, “How did I know that I had to put on 70 g [half its body weight] to get to Hawaii? Who told me to go there anyway...?”. It has “the wisdom” to fly in V formations like geese, which it considers a good example for us humans. Still, the feat leaves us utterly amazed. Gitt and Vanheiden also cover the aerobatic champ, the dragonfly, the eye’s lens, the earthworm, and coliform bacteria in their little book, which has been translated into French, Russian, Chinese and six other languages besides English. See You At The Pole 2005Treasure Valley Students Rally For Prayer at School Flag Poles

Hundreds of Christian students across the Treasure Valley called out to God September 21 as they participated in the 16th annual See You at the Pole™ – National Day of Student Prayer. God’s promise in Jeremiah 33:3 was the theme verse this year: “Call to me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” From stories that were received from all 50 states and countries on five continents, it was clear that students were claiming that promise for real-life issues in their world.

Prominent in the prayers of many teenagers was the recovery of victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In the evening at Cole Community Church in Boise, students from the various Treasure Valley schools gathered together to celebrate and share their memories of their prayer times at their schools.

See You at the Pole 2006 is September 27, moving to the fourth Wednesday of September.

For more information about See You At The Pole, view their web site at: www.syatp.com. Also, take the time to adopt your school for Christ at www.everyschool.com.

JESUS is GOD the SON(CREATOR of the Universe and all Life!)

Hebrews 1:2-3 NIV2 ...in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.Hebrews 3:3-4 NIV3. Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.4. For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.

THE SAVIOR (GOD in human form) born of the Virgin Mary

Matthew 1:23 NIV“The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel” – which means, “God with us.”Isaiah 9:6 NIV“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”John 8:23-24 NIV23. But he continued, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.24. I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am [the one I claim to be], you will indeed die in your sins.”John 14:6 NIVJesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

No other person can save you or giveyou hope and eternal life.

How to know JESUS as yourpersonal Savior:

The only document on earth that is a reliable source for knowledge on who JESUS is or who GOD the FATHER is, is the Holy Bible. If you would like to know JESUS as your personal Savior from sin, pray the following prayer followed by studying The Holy Bible and get involved with a local Christian church.Pray this sincere prayer, meaning it with allyour heart, and God will give you eternal life, right now!“Dear Lord, I am a sinful person who needs You. I turn from my sins and surrender my heart and life to You, right now. Save me dear God and make me Your child. Thank You for coming to Bethlehem, and for dying for me to pay for my sins. Help me to live for You all the rest of my life.” AmenIf you would like to talk to someone further about how to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, please call toll free 1-888-NeedHim and view the website:

StryperIn ConcertOctober 16

By Judy Repp

One of the first alternative music style Christian bands, Stryper, appeared in concert at the Big Easy Concert House on Sunday, October 16. Three of the four original band members are part of the Stryper Reborn national tour this fall. Stryper stands for Salvation Through Redemption Yielding Peace and Isaiah 53:5, “by His stripes we are healed” appears with their logo.

When I heard they were coming to Boise, I dug out an old album, “To Hell with the Devil” that I owned. I wasn’t necessarily a Stryper fan nearly 20 years ago when this album was released, so I went to the concert mostly out of curiosity – to find out if they still sounded and looked the old Stryper.

Although they had up-dated their appearance, lead singer Michael Sweet and his band sounded much the same as the music they were known for in the eighties. The music was loud and words barely discernable, but the relatively small, aging crowd knew Stryper’s music and appreciated the repertoire of old hits. The encore brought their most well-known hits, “To Hell with the Devil” and “Soldiers Under Command,” which the crowd thoroughly enjoyed. Michael also prayed a beautiful prayer at the end, which left no doubt that their faith was right-on.

When I first began attending Christian rock concerts which had an altar call, I had trouble understanding the happy-no tears repentance atmosphere, but I came to realize that God has many methods to draw people to him. I remember thinking the same thing at the Stryper concert: while this particular style of music doesn’t necessarily minister to me, God can use many types of music and any atmosphere to allow his people to worship Him.

By Colleen Donahue, Founder, CEO, RN, and Pastor of Arise and Rebuild Ministries “ARM” (native Idahoan from Meridian)

In 1995, as I stood on top of Smokey Mountain in the Philippines, the worlds largest garbage dump with over 40,000 people living on it, my heart welled up with compassion and a vision I’d had years before was redefined. The humidity, the living conditions, the strong aromas and my thoughts of multiplying microbes under my feet were almost overwhelming. Despite all conditions, Mary Frances and I, both RN’s worked ‘hand-in-hand’ reaching out to these neglected and hopeless Filipino people near Manila, Philippines with Mercy Ships / Youth with a Mission. Bible Studies, medical clinics and sharing the Love of Jesus is all we could offer.

In 1996, I returned to the northern Philippines to follow what was on my heart – to set up an outreach ministry to the extremely poor, neglected, abused, orphaned and abandoned children and forgotten families. As a teenager, the Lord had given me a vision about ‘a rural place in Asia that would become the HOME for many neglected children.’ A place with love, care, gardens, animals, a school, church and a medical clinic in the countryside.

Every year I’ve returned and stayed in the Philippines. Constantly praying and looking at the land asking Jesus ‘where is the land for a HOME?’ You see, as a foreigner reaching out to the Filipino children, I felt I was able to do so little. Adoption was too expensive for me. So I worked in the USA, and sent money to begin a ‘Feeding Program.’ This gave the starving kids something to eat, when they had nothing. Songs of Jesus’ love for them and Bible stories filled the outreach.

I began to understand that in the Philippines, if you don’t have an education, it is hard to get out of your situation. Example: you have to have 2 years college before you can apply at McDonald’s. My hard earned nursing money became more stretched as I would

support various kids to attend public school. Here in the Philippines, you are allowed to attend after you have uniforms, school supplies and of course pay all the school dues upfront. I sought the Lord about how to help solve this problem. I began to see I had been selfish, in helping the kids. I needed to tell others in the USA about the needs and how they could be involved.

The ‘School /Health Sponsorship Program’ evolved in 1998, and continues today to assist kids and even a few college students in school. This program only assists the parents or caregiver partially with uniforms, backpack, shoes, school supplies, some medical/dental assistance. Through this program, hope has entered the heart of each sponsored child.

Please understand, that we help kids that wouldn’t

have a chance to attend school. Some sponsors have come and visited their child. Won’t you allow you heart to involve a needy child?

In 2002, the Lord opened doors for a second church to be founded. Aida, a native Filipino and I are devoted to reaching the unwanted and forgotten in Asia. The ministry outreach is held outside under a tin roof. In 2003, ‘love gifts’ from folks like you allowed the purchase of about 1/2 acre, and putting in a well and electricity. The land has been cleared and replanted with fruit trees and vegetables. These help to feed the poor farming and mountainside raised children. Our hope soon is to build a ‘HOME for Orphaned & Abandoned Kids’, and a Multi-Purpose Center (this would be used for church, eating, school assistance, etc.). We are contacted often to take kids, but have no more space to house them. Currently we have 4 abandoned girls living with us, one has cerebral palsy.

Several of the kids need a monthly sponsor. For only $25.00 a month you can give hope to the heart of a child! Concerning the HOME, local workers are available for hire. We just need the materials and funding. We are asking if you’ll Pray and ask Jesus for direction. You may email us at: [email protected] or call: 208-888-2779 or write:

CONCERT REVIEW

Casting CrownsBy Jeff Eastman, Boise

Less than a year ago, Casting Crowns appeared at the Taco Bell Arena as the opening act for Steven Curtis Chapman. To anyone who saw that concert, it should come as no surprise that they are already out on their own tour, and they’re changing lives in the process.

The change came to Boise on October 10, 2005 as Casting Crowns appeared with Josh Bates, Building 429 and evangelist Tony Nolan. Lead singer Mark Hall, who writes the songs for Casting Crowns, shared some of the experiences from which his songs were born. Some of them are based on his experience as a youth pastor. Some of them are based on his outlook in certain areas of life. But all of them contain the passion that Casting Crowns has become known for.

As the audience sang along, Hall delivered messages about praising God in the midst of our storms, the importance of family, overcoming the fear of witnessing to loved ones, and many other areas Christians struggle with. One very poignant song entitled “Love them Like Jesus” shared the message that when people are hurting, they don’t need someone with all the answers. They just need someone who will just love them and be there for them. Song after song contained similar message about very relevant topics.

Still, despite all the great music from Casting Crowns, as well as opening acts Josh Bates and Building 429, the best was yet to come. Evangelist Tony Nolan took the stage and delivered a powerful, no-nonsense message about the fact that all of us will spend eternity in either heaven or hell. Nolan held no punches as he shared with the audience

the need each and every one of us has for a Savior. After the message, he asked the audience to bow for a word of prayer and led many people to the Lord. After the prayer, he asked those who had prayed the prayer to stand. All around me people began standing up, and a loud applause broke out from the rest of us as we welcomed the newcomers into the family. The celebration continued as Casting Crowns came back out and finished up the evening with more wonderful, inspiring music, including one encore.

For those of us who were there, the memories will never fade. For those who weren’t there...well, you’ll just have to wait until the next time Casting Crowns comes to Boise.
