Findings and Facts

• Women sole bread earners in many families and mostly work as

labourers.

• Lack of awareness about different government schemes and social

assistance schemes like Indira Gandhi Pension scheme or social

security schemes among women.

• Literacy level is poor among women.

• Majority of the women still use the traditional ‘Chulha’ for cooking

meals and use the residual part for oral hygiene.

Villagers’ Opinion • 65% of the people in the village are not satisfied with the health care facilities in the

village.

• 85% people are aware about ‘ASHA’.

• 63% people are not satisfied with the hygienic conditions of the village.

• 85% people have saving bank account in the post office or bank.

• 58% people are aware about the Jan-Dhanyojana.

• 69% have reported Unemployment as the major problem in the village while 21% have reported sanitation as the major problem.

• Those who have worked under MGNREGS, reported about the regular payment of the wages.

• Domination of one family and monopoly over resources needs to be checked.

• Responsibility needs to be fixed on Panchayat and Gram Sevak for absence of

sanitation staff from work.

• A canal needs to be built so that water can be made available to Kuntur and other

nearby villages in case of drought like situation as this year.

• School needs upgrade and number of teachers needs to be increased.

• New employment generation schemes need to be initiated, utilising the unique tri-

junction location of the village.

• Awareness among people regarding government schemes needs to be increased,

especially among BPL families.
