Happy New Year to all residents and business owners, hard to believe it’s already 2019. Let’s make sure we continue the successes in Thornton for all of 2019. Eve-ryone please be safe in this unpredictable weather! Thank you to Public Works for keeping our streets as safe as possible considering the weather conditions.
I would like to give thanks and recognize Village staff, local businesses, and the entire Holiday Happenings Committee for another well planned Holiday Happen-ings Weekend. The weekend was filled with many activities and events, starting with the official Village Christmas Tree Lighting and Candy Cane Hunt. It was great to see the many families welcome Santa Claus as he arrived to sing Christ-mas Carols and kicked off the tree lighting countdown. At the conclusion of the tree lighting, everyone enjoyed the Fire Station’s hot chocolate, cookies and visit with Santa. It is always great to see the increased family participation in Holiday Happenings every year.
I would like to highlight 2018 major improvements and accomplishments made possible by the Administrator, Dept. Heads, Staff, Committee Members, Volunteers and The Village Board: Bo Kaye, Joe Pisarzewski, Kim Atkinson, David Hudson, Debra Paris and Maxine Reynolds.:

Memorial Brick Program
The Village of Thornton Memorial Brick Program is a great way to honor a loved one that has passed by engraving a brick with their name. Brick requests may be made all year however, brick placement will take place only twice per year; Spring and Fall. The standard 4″ x 8″ brick is attractively engraved with your message and placed in the Memorial Park Patio at the corner of Williams and Eleanor. Each brick cost $75.00 and includes three lines of content. Each line only allows for 13 characters, including spaces, and other punctuation.
