Halmillawewa • Situated in Palugawewa DS division of Anuradapuara district• 550 population • Primary livelihood –farming (paddy, corn)• Primary needs -Water, Electricity ,Education and livelihood

Mangalagama • Situated in Eravur Pattu DS division of Ampara District• 2250 population • Primary livelihood- Agriculture (cashew, paddy)• Primary needs -water, cashew market
Objectives• Enhance the education level of the students• Rebuild the paddy cultivation• Motivate home gardeners • Identify the technical problems of street solar lamps
• Educate people about chronic kidney disease• Improve the personality of the young generation• Renovate the dam at the Halmillawewa tank• Identify the issue affecting the cashew farmers in
Mangalagama
Health awareness program • Anuradhapura is prone for chronic kidney disease• Ten villagers were kidney patients• Conduct a awareness program on the following topics
How to spend a healthy life
Important of the balance diet
Recognize the hidden killer chronic kidney disease
Check the functionality of street solar lamps
• JKF had placed 22 street solar lamps
• But Only four of them were working• Get technician from wisdom solar to inspect issues

Personal development and positive thinking workshop • Main focus The younger generation of the Halmillawewa• Villagers showed us the importance of such a program• Interactive session with boys and girls
Check the suitability to establish a water filter • Previous year service learning teams checked about water
hardness and pH levels
• Proposed to JKF to conduct proper chemical analysis on heavy metals in drinking
• Contacted NARA and took a quotation for heavy metal testing
• JKF agreed to pay attention about this matter
Renovation of the dam • The dam constructed by JKF was damaged due to heavy rains
two years ago• Arrange a meeting with Agrarian service department
Got permission to renovate the dam
Conducting supplementary classes • Main request from there parent for conduct supplementary
classes for grade two to ten student• Grade five student were train for scholarship exam• Model papers were given and discussed the answers with
them
Rerun home gardeningcompetition
• Not only a competition also motivation for women
• Registration, Instruction and condition forms were distributed
• After 3 inspections winners will be identified from the total marks
Conducting mathematics seminar for O/L students • distribute special modal paper and three consecutive
mathematics past papers
Identify the issue affecting cashew farmers• Cashew farmers had agreed with CCS to supply cashew for fixed
price • Last two years farmers unable to supply cashew products to CCS• Fixed price given by CCS was not sufficient
ConclusionDistribute seed paddy for farmers

• Difficult to contact them because of communication difficulties
• Difficult to gather people during day time
• Unable to travel during night due to elephant attacks

• Bad weather(Flood and drought)
• The delays to get permission from authorities
