    INTRODUCTION

    The responsibility of a Structural Engineer lies in notmerely designing the structure based on safety and

    serviceability considerations but he also has to consider

    the functional requirements based on the use to which

    the structure is intended.

    LITERATURE REVIEW

    As reported by Bower 1968, Redwood and 1968,Lawson 1987; Darwin 1990; Redwood and Cho

    1993; Bradford 1995, the presence of web

    openings may have a severe penalty on the load

    carrying capacities of structural members,depending on the shapes of the web openings.

    In the latter case, the web-post buckling failure

    modes will dominate (Tsavdaridis and DMello

    2011).
