________________________________________________________________________________________DBRTbatchinACTION1) Bamboo furniture project : In continuation of our experimentation with Work centered educationmethodology, bamboofurniture project wasundertaken by Engineerswithout border (EWB)volunteers Ms Emma andJenny.Assignmentgivenwasto make a bamboo chair.Whilemanufacturingofchairdifferent curriculum topicswere introduced to studentsasshowninthefig.Emma and Jenny madepowerpointsoneachlesson.All DBRT students weredividedinto4groups.Surveywas undertaken in Pabalvillage to know customerneed and preferences. Eachgroupcameupwithadesignof a chair and gavepresentation about featuresoftheirbamboochair.Theypreparedasmallprototypeusingwoodensticks.Finallyweshortlistedtwobestdesignformanufacturing.Studentsmadethechairsintheworkshop.Chairswerefinallyputupfordisplayinvillagebazzar.Studentsgottwomoreordersfromvillagers!Theexercisewentonforabout15days.The process of conducting lesson is getting documented in the form of OER and will be available onINDUSAPTIwebsite.

INDUSAPTI1)SecondworkshoptodevelopOpenEducationResources(OER)onruraltechnologywasheldfrom1113thAugatSNDTB.Edcollege.TheworkshopwasorganisedbyNIOS.VAactedas resourcepersonand IBTcoordinators from different schoolsworked on different topics to developOER.OER developed in the firstworkshopwere submitted toNIOS and draft of secondOERwas prepared by each participant.About 20

participant participated in the workshop.NIOSwillmake them available online afterqualitycheckandgraphicupgradation.2)Engineerswithboarder(EWB)volunteersEmmaandJeenyareworkingoncompletingnine units of OER. It includes low costhousing, plumbing, electrical wiring,sanitation, agricultural tools, biogas, solardevices,ferrocementetc.

IntroductiontoBasicTechnology(IBT)PLAN100update(SupportedbyLendahandIndia,Suzlonfoundation,HemendraKothariFoundation)1)Wewere invited tomake presentation of IBT program and its concept in ameeting of Chairman anddivisionaldirectorofRayatshikshansansthaon17thAug.Theywantedtostarttheprogramintheirschools.Advt.Raosaheb Shinde chaired themeeting. They formed a committee to submit the budget and suitableschoolstotheirmanagement.2) IBT program is at peak in thismonth. Hence all team is visitingdifferent school to give themdirectionandnewideas.

Yogesh and vishal visitedNagaj, Walsang, kharshingschools inSanglidistricton9th 10th Aug. They also visitedjalihalschoolinJat.ThisschoolisrunbyYeralaprojectsocietyandtheyareconductingIBTonselffinancedbasis. Yogesh and vishal also

visited Thangaon andBargaon pimpri IBT schoolinSinnaron31stAug.

3) Omkar visited Dantewad andBijapurdistfrom23rd27thAug.Ameetingofinstructorswasheldon26thAugandallpracticaldifficultieswerediscussed.4)DantewadacollectorgavesanctionorderforIBTprogramin3schoolsandtrainingmonitoringsupport.5)Omkarconductedoneday Workcentriceducationworkshopat Jalnaon30thAug.2012.Theworkshopwas organized by Gandhi Adhyayan Kendra, Jalna. 75 high school teachers / HM / sanstha chairmanparticipatedinthisworkshop.6)OmkarattendedmeetinginSSCboardto10thstdIBTcurriculumdevelopmentandbookwritingon9th/10thand31stAug.7)VAteammeetingon IBTreviewandvisitplanningwasheldon15thand16thAugatPabal.Visitplanandthrustactivitiesaredecided.8)OmkarvisitedHKFprojectschoolon21st22ndAug.

summer vacation. They have earned Rs.35000.00 and out of whichRs.7000.00waspureprofit for students.Allelectrical fittingsaredoneandmaintainedbystudents.Veryrecentlytheyhavefixed5ceilingfansin the school.Schoolhascultivated20guntasof ricebyadvanced ricecultivationmethod.TheSchoolhavepoultryand4buffalosinIBTanimalhusbandrysectionwhichisusedintheirdailymeal.

3)Kaledhon Kaledhon School has planted 1 guntha areawith Brinjal /Merry goldplants. One of the school alumni have donated RS.1.00 lakh for IBTprogramme.

4)TilaliandShanimandal On the occasion of 15th August Independence day, Tillali andShanimandal schools have conducted blood testing camp. Dor.LateshPatel from Suzlon foundation guided the student. 33 villagers fromShanimandal and 52 from Tilali tested their blood group by payingRs.10/pertest.

5)Amkhelschool Amkhelschoolhasmanufacturedaround22 treeguard.TheycollecteddonationofRs.4400fromvillagers.School invitedvillagersfordonationandhaveputnameofdonoronrespectivetreeguard.

6)Ashramshala,Sakri IBTagriculturesectioninBabaAmteAshramShala,Sakrihascultivated 5000 sq ft ( 5Guntas )of redpumpkin fortheirschoolkitchen.

7)Dhamarischool 200 Acacia seedling plants are received as donation from Dhamari IBT School. They have developed it under Dyanrai project of Praj Foundation.

6]DSTCoreSupportProjects:A)FAB8conferenceAmitrajrepresentedVAinFab8conferenceheldatMasseyUniversitysCreativeCampusinWellington,NewZealandfrom22nd28thAug.MITsupportedtravelandlodgingboardingcostandwearethankfultothem.Itgivesusopportunity toconnectwithother labs.Amitrajgavepresentationofprojects inVAfab lab. ItwasgoodlearningexperienceandwillhelpinimprovingfunctioningofourlabatPabal.AmitrajandPawanworkedhardtocompleteprojectsfordemonstrationduringfab8.Wecoulddemonstrateleaf wetness sensor during the conference beside other projects. Pawan joined conference via videoconferencingfromPune/Pabal.B)OleoresinProject1)Development of the unit is in progress. Trials onmint oil extractionwas discontinuedwhen observedleakage. It was primarily due top back pressure. A non return valve is being fixed under guidance ofMr.Ghatpande.2)DryerAmbienttemperaturedryer ismodifiedbyreducing itsdryingchambervolumeby50%.Wewereexpectingreduction indryingtime.Trialson45betroot leavesfailedtoprovethis.Werealizefollowingmodificationsarefurtherneeded

C)PrajAnimalHusbandryProject GoatshedworkWork isinprogress.Sofarfabricationworkof internalpatricianwall,flooringwork

andsidewallworkiscompleted.Targetistofinishworkby15thofSeptember. Poultry shedworkSite forpoultry is finalisedafterconsideringdifferentavailable sites incampus.

Thissiteisjustbehindgoatshedonthewaydowntovillage.(photoattached).

D]FoddermakingmachineWehave initiatednewproject tomanufacture foddermakingmachine.Due to less rainfall,we are facingdrought like situation at Pabal. Farm tank is almost dry and situationwill becomeworse during summer.Situation for fodder isworrying.Our friendsatSGSwealthcreator (Mr.SunilKulkarni,RajubhaiGandhiandMr.Ghatpande) introduced us to the foddermakingmachine.
