From the Minister
HALLELUJAH HARVEST ~ a year of
engagement in Food, Faith & Farm Mission
We will seek to connect international farm
mission, with our Sunday School and local farmer’s market through the Food, Faith &
Farming Network ministry.
Acts of the Apostles 2:46-47: “Day by day, as
they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food
with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day
by day the Lord added to their number those
who were being saved.”
Special Mission Seed Donation received: $5,000

Presbyterian Church (USA) World Mission
(Togo Agricultural Ministry) Appointed as a PC(USA) mission co-worker in
October 2009, the Rev. Josh Hekkila is regional liaison for West Africa. He facilitates support for
the programs, relationships and activities of
PC(USA) partners. He also provides support to PC(USA) mission personnel and helps connect
partner churches with PC(USA) churches that want to be involved in ministry in the region.
Our Togo mission project is to honor our
connection with Togo members in our congregation by supporting agricultural ministry
of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Togo
which has its offices in the capital Lomé. We will donate $4,000 in support of the Notsé’
agricultural facility: aquaculture, vegetable farming, and pineapple farming. Our support
will be used to expand these projects.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Togo has its agricultural development office and a large
agricultural facility in Notsé.
Notsé is a town in the Plateau Region of
Togo. It is the capital of Haho
Prefecture and is situated 95 km north
of the capital Lomé. The town was
formed around 1600 by the Ewe people.
Today it is the center of agriculture for
the region.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of
Togo was begun in 1893 by German
Reformed missionaries of the Bremen
Mission. Later it was supported by the
Paris Missionary Society. Today it
includes English-speaking and French-
speaking congregations. In Togo, as in
almost all the countries of West Africa,
Christians are a minority. In Togo, for
example, those who practice African
traditional religion are about 40 percent
of the population, and Muslims 20
percent.
The Evangelical Presbyterian Church of
Togo has 200,000–300,000 members,
516 congregations, and 516 house
fellowships, as well as hospitals, clinics
and schools. The church is a member of
the World Communion of Reformed
Churches.
West Granville Sunday School Year-Long Initiative
$500 will be used to support these activities
Pentecost Sunday, May 20, 2018
Member Care & Landscape Committees & Sunday School
Acts of the Apostles 2:17 “In the last days it will
be, God declares, I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams.
Hallelujah Harvest: Our Food, Faith and
Farm Mission will become a year-long theme
for the West Granville Sunday School. Pentecost
celebrates the gift of God’s Spirit poured out on
all humanity. On this Sunday, the whole Sunday school will learn about the gift of planting and
creation.
Mark 4: 1-20 “A Sower went out to sow some
seeds…”
We hope to engage the children and congregation in planting the new West Granville
Memorial Prayer Garden. Children will make potting plants to take home and to share with
our Homebound Families.
The congregation will be invited to a Pot-Luck
Salad Bar Luncheon following worship. Congregation is invited to bring a “Harvest” of
salads of any variety or any contributions to a
green salad bar, to share as a meal for the congregation.
Our Vacation Bible School will be at Homestead Farm, Hwy 83, in North Lake, WI.
http://www.homesteadanimalfarm.com/
Homestead farm is located in Southeastern Wisconsin, two miles north of North Lake
Wisconsin on Highway 83. It has been a family farm for over 140 years. Today the farm has
miniature donkeys, alpacas, pygmy goats, dairy
goats, sheep, turkeys, peacocks, pheasants, potbellied pigs, rabbits, ducks, geese, chickens,
cats, and a dog. It has a grass-roofed barn for the donkeys and goats and in 2000 the grass-
roofed chicken coop was built. The goats and
chickens can be seen on the grass roofs all year long.
The goal is to connect the children to learn about farming, the source of our food, and to
give thanks to God.
Rally Day September 9, 2018
Open Circle & Sunday School Mark 6:30-44 Feeding the Five Thousand
Hallelujah Harvest: Our Food, Faith and Farm Mission will continue as the theme for
our fall curriculum.
An interactive Bulletin Board Display will be
created in Perseverance Hall to learn about faith and farming. It will also engage the children in
incentive activities.
World Communion Sunday October 7, 2018
Sunday School, Choir, Mission and Worship Committees
Matthew 28:16-20 “Go out into all the world…”
The Great Commission
World Communion Sunday will honor the church in Togo. We will learn about the mission of the
Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Togo. We will sing Togo hymns and have readers from our
Togo Community. During Sunday School the
children will help make “Puff-Puff”, Togo fried bread, that we will serve for Holy Communion.
Advent Breakfast & Workshop
December 2, 2018 Member Care and Sunday School
Luke 2:7 “And she, Mary, brought forth her firstborn son; and she wrapped him in swaddling
clothes, and laid him in a manger, because there
was no room for them in the inn.”
Advent Workshop will bring our Faith & Farming Theme to the Story of the Nativity. An arts and
crafts project will highlight the animals of the Nativity in retelling the story of Jesus’ birth.
Figures of the animals will be made as gifts to
be included with the Homebound Poinsettia Delivery.

the sacred connections between land and people. The Network fosters rural and urban
relationships and promotes earth stewardship,
community, spirituality and economic justice through healthy food and sustainable farming
practices by collaborating with individuals, organizations and faith communities that share
this vision.
The Network links food, faith and farming
through educational, spiritual and community building events and brings a spiritual perspective
to the conversation in addressing food and farming issues. The Network also connects
consumers and growers, urban and rural,
through activities such as Winter Farmers’ Markets; advocates for a just food system and
food security for all, and promotes a land ethic of stewardship and care for our common home -

Hallelujah Harvest Celebration Sunday
May 19, 2019 Luke 10:2 “"The harvest is plentiful, but the
workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest
field.”
Our year-long Faith and Farming theme will be
celebrated and concluded on May 19, 2019. Pictures, stories, a possible second mission gift
can all be part of our celebration. It ends with a life-long mission commission to “Go out into the
fields”.
Peace, Pastor Dee

Trip to Israel and Palestinian Territories April 16-25, 2018
Many of you know that I have been involved
for over 30 years in interfaith dialogue. I have
served two terms on the Greater Milwaukee Interfaith Conference and have chaired the
Urban/Suburban dialogue committee. Over the years we have been dedicated and privileged to
forge interfaith friends in the community like Masjid Al-Quran and Congregation Emanu-El
B’ne Jeshurun.
Whenever we talk about Israel and Palestine, two themes repeatedly arise: hopes for peace
and justice. Rabbi Marc Berkson of Congregation Emanu-El B’ne Jeshurun has
invited me as a partner and guest clergy on a
Peacemaking Tour of Israel and the Palestinian Territories. The trip is sponsored by Interfaith
Partners for Peace. Interfaith Partners for Peace journeys to the
Holy Land with Jewish and Christian clergy to experience the land and its people as they do
themselves. We will open our hearts and minds
to one another and to the amazing people we will meet along the way, including Christian,
Jewish, and Muslim religious leaders, Israeli and Palestinian officials, journalists, scholars, civic
leaders, and next-generation social
entrepreneurs. We will encounter the many narratives of
Israelis and Palestinians and we will hear from partners there who are working to build a more
peaceful and secure future for both peoples.
We will travel to both Christian and Jewish holy sites within the Holy Land. We make sure to
travel both sides of the Green Zone in order to get all sides of the narrative. Along the way we
will study the sacred texts that make the land so special.
I am grateful for this remarkable opportunity.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING The One Great Hour of Sharing is one of the most popular offerings of the Presbyterian
Church. It began over a half century ago, in response to war-torn Europe and Asia.
Protestant churches had gotten together to
sponsor a nationwide hour-long broadcast on Saturday, March 26, 1949. During the recent
disasters around the world, your gifts to the One Great Hour of Sharing from last Easter have
allowed mission and aid workers to rapidly respond to the need.
Today ten denominations continue to
cooperate in this wider witness. Ministry is carried out in over 60 countries around the
world. Through this sense of partnership, we know that our gifts will continue to be used
effectively and efficiently.
We will be receiving the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering on Easter Sunday, April 1.
Please give generously.
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING On Easter Sunday we will collect for the One
Great Hour of Sharing. Sunday School children will be collecting with their fish boxes. In this
generous way we respond to a world of need in
the name of Jesus Christ. Our gifts will support those who are hungry, victims of natural
disasters and people learning to help themselves.
Since 1949 Presbyterians have joined with
millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with those
in need. Your generous gifts assist those affected by natural disasters, provide food to the
hungry, and help build strong communities.
Thank you for your generosity!

THANK YOU NOTES
Hello,
I would like to thank WGPC for shepherding
the Perseverance Fund on our behalf. This gift
of $1400 supports the ongoing mission of
Sherman Park/Northwest Neighborhood
Outreach Program in assisting seniors in our
community.
The need for assistance to seniors to help them
stay in their home continues to grow. The needs
of the seniors in the community vary widely and
fortunately we are able to assist them or we are
able to refer them to a program that will assist.
Your support is invaluable in our mission of
helping seniors stay in their home.
We are involved in a more focused community
connections project in Sherman Park with local
churches, Safe and Sound, Sherman Park
Community Associations, and others to try to get
neighbors connected with each other. There are
many benefits for seniors when there is more
neighbor interaction. Additionally, we are
exploring ways to do intergenerational
programming with older adults and children and
teens in 2018.
Thank you again for your support and
commitment to Sherman Park/Northwest
Interfaith.
Sincerely,
Niedra North, Director,
Sherman Park/Northwest Interfaith
Neighborhood Outreach Program
Dear Pastor Anderson,
Thanks to your congregation, Milwaukee
families in need of affordable housing will
have a safe and stable place to sleep at
night. Your gift of $500 will be a part of
the Presbyterian Church Coalition fund
for their 2018 home.
Your support is not only helping a
family afford a decent place to live. Crime
is down 48% where we’ve built in the
Washington Park neighborhood. 87% of
Milwaukee Habitat homeowners’ children
have graduated from high school, nearly
30% higher than the average graduation
rate of Milwaukee Public School students.
And 50% of Milwaukee Habitat
homeowners reported experiencing fewer
housing-related illnesses, such as asthma,
after moving into their Habitat home.
We couldn’t do this without you! Thank
you for helping to build a world where
everyone has a decent place to live.
With much gratitude,
Brian Sonderman, Executive Development
