Homework Week 4 – Due October 13 Grade 2 TLC The homework program includes 15 – 20 minutes of daily reading. It should include some discussion time with your child to ensure understanding of the text. Please complete spelling in the notebook provided. The TLC program uses the resource Literacy MAP to teach phoneme awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Weekly spelling words are used to teach children to apply their phoneme awareness skills and phonics to spelling and reading. In class we will work on 8 list words. For homework each night, the children are expected to review the words for their homework level and practice any words they have not mastered. Attached is the list of spelling words for this week. We ask that the children date their homework, write each spelling word with markings as many times as possible in one row of print, using finger spaces between words, and finally, on the row below, write one sentence to show they understand the correct use of the word. Literacy MAP emphasizes the correct formation of the letters with upper case letters taking one full line of print and lower case letters half a line. Please leave one empty line between spaces of print and ensure all homework is carefully done in pencil.
